MMA July - Now featuring Heisenberg's tears

After watching this press conference and an interview Chael did with Helwani, I harbor absolutely no ill will towards Chael. He is an extremely classy, intelligent, witty guy and I have come to respect him.

In honor of all the steak talk after the fight and during the presser, Guy's new name will be MediumRare. I don't want to disrespect Chael anymore than I have and Guy has been a great sport after the fight.

Anderson Silva is $4 on Twitter trends, Chael is #5, UFC 148 is the top trend for Brazil and the UK. This was huge.

Had to cool down after the fights because tonight really didn't go my way. But hats off to Anderson, he fought like a champ and showed why he's the best champ ever. The knee had me losing it at first but the replay showed it was good, fair shot. I'm honestly more pissed about the Tito-Forrest fight because although both looked pretty bad and Forrest landed more I thought the damage he did and the TD's were enough to get a draw at the very least, but the judges went with forrest and he did well. Is it just me or did the majority of this card not live up to the hype, I mean the undercard sucked!

I'm going to the Sox game tonight with tickets from work with a girl who models. I'm playing with the house money at this point, Chael winning would have been nothing but a nice bonus. I pretty much let out all my rage right after the fight ended.

Thanks for letting me off the hook, brother. I don't like Silva as a person at all still, but as it's clear fights like the Maia one are well behind him, I sure as hell respect him as a fighter and appreciate that he is, indeed, the best in the world.

Finally watched the press conference and I've got to say that Chael took the loss really well. Still disappointed about the result but moments like these are what caused me to become a fan of the sport. I would love to see Chael move up to Light Heavyweight as he isn't going to be getting another title shot in the near future. I'd pay to see Sonnen vs. Rampage.

Major congratulations to Anderson Silva for the performance he put in. I was wondering about the knee at first but once the replay was shown it was clear that it was legal. Smart move from Anderson and an impressive victory.

Still got a lot of love for the American Gangster though.

There was talk of Anderson going to LH after Jones' last fight wasn't there? Both divisions are going to be cleaned out at this rate. Both champions are just too good.

Just going to reply about it here instead of the LD, but Rashad would be ******ed to have his first fight at 185 against Anderson Silva. He should take a tune up fight at 185 before taking a fight against the champ. I know it's hard to be patient in this sport, but in this case it's more than necessary, otherwise I guarantee 'Shad will gas early on and Silva will murder him.

Whatever, though. If that's what 'Shad wants, then it's his funeral. I like Rashad, but Anderson is one of the my favorites and Rashad would be a great name to add to his resume.

When you think about the knee Silva hit Sonnen with, you realize how great of a striker Anderson Silva really is. Chael was in a sitting position, and any normal fighter probably would have hit Chael in the face. That knee shows how pin-point Silva's striking is, and how well he controls he strikes. Also, looking at his jiu-jitsu in that fight, and how well he controlled Sonnen while he was on the bottom and while his face was being smashed in by Sonnen, and how calm he seemed, and he wouldn't let Chael pass, Silva really is the top pound for pound all around fighter.

I just realized that I had the same reaction to Breakdancing Brock that I did to Sonnen's errant spinning back fist.

Basically this:

I think Boetsch is underrated a bit. He won't ever hold a belt but he is resilient and has good enough grappling skills that he could grind out a boring decision. I think Lombard wins but if he loses I won't be like OMGWTF!?!? surprised

And now my mind goes into MMA hibernation til 150 haha. So much anticipation for 148 and now it's over.

Man you aren't kidding. There's nothing to look forward to in a LONG time. I don't even care about 150; that card is shit IMO. And BJ looking so fucking chubby is making me less hyped for his fight, though that is the fight I'm still most looking forward to.

However, boxing has some good fights coming, Breaking Bad starts next week, football season is right around the corner, and WWE has been very good this summer (at least Bryan/AJ/Punk have kept me heavily interested in the company, anyway), so last night was the perfect time to have that huge fight and then not have to get my hopes up for another for quite a while.

There are some interesting fights between here and 150 but they are scattered between cards. This is the first time I have a legit gripe about too many cards since the Fox deal.

BTW, can they find a date for JDS/Cain 2 already? I like to watch JDS fight because he just brings in each time and is in my opinion the most powerful puncher in MMA.

JDS vs. Cain is going to be a much better fight this time around I'm sure, but I wish at least one of them had a shred of personality in them. They're so fucking boring outside the cage, and neither carry that 'mystique' guys like Anderson and Fedor have.

No man, neither have much of a personality. 90% of the reason people talk about Cain outside the cage is his chest tat. A lot of casual fans I know don't even know who JDS is.

150 pretty much sucks, It's a boring ass card with not one interesting fight on it. I thought Benson clearly won the first fight and think he will do so again. Plus, i'm tired of seeing Frankie Edgar in title fights. Yea, the guy has heart, but fuck he is as bland as they come.

After that though, the UFC has some exceptional fights going for it with Hendo/Jones at 151, Penn/Rory and Cain/JDS at 152, and GSP/Condit at 154. September through December is shaping up to be a huge couple months especially if Overeem gets his wish to fight at the year end card.

F4Wonline.com is reporting WWE is interested in working with UFC fighter Chael Sonnen.

Sonnen, who suffered a loss to Anderson Silva on Saturday night, is being targeted by WWE to get involved in some fashion. There is no indication if WWE wants the 35 year-old fighter to wrestle or have another role.

Chael Sonnen is Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Interim Raw General Manager.

Chael Sonnen vs. Brock Lesnar at 'Mania would be fucking huge.

Chael could come in as a lifelong, die-hard fan of WWE (and friend of CM Punk's... maybe Brock injures Punk at some point) and explains how he's sick of seeing Brock disrespect the business and promises to embarrass him so bad he'll never enter a wrestling ring again.

Glover Texiera vs Rampage is booked for 153. Well, Rampage gets his wish, he isn't fighting a wrestler. This is going to be a destruction, Glover is going to destroy Page.

BJ Penn is fat? You don't say! ;)

The next couple of cards are going to suck, but I am legitimately looking forward to Faber/Barao (Faber's one of my favorites) and I really want to see how Lombard fares in the UFC. Munoz/Weidman should be decent. Plus, we're a month away from the next Fox card, which should feature a decent main card, which will be capped off by the public execution of Brandon Vera. If you can't get behind that, you don't have a pulse as an MMA fan.

Frankie Edgar is proof that you can bitch your way to a title fight. Benson definitively won the first and he'll win this fight.

Ehh... I like Glover a lot, but Rampage is still a huge step up in competition for him. At least it won't be boring, that's for sure.

Question is, does Rampage even give a shit and will he make weight?
