MMA July - Now featuring Heisenberg's tears

I hope so but that's what I was gonna use Volkmann-Sass for at 146 and by the time I got in line for the bathroom Sass was throwing on his triangle :banghead:

I certainly hope Maia remembers the reason he made it so far in this sport in the beginning but I've been wishing that since his first fight after 112 and it ain't happened yet.

I can't stand Volkmann, I jumped out of my chair when Sass got that triangle. It was like when Mir submit Nog, I was that excited

As long as the Maia who fought Weidman doesn't show up I'll be happy, that wasn't fun to watch.

The absolute worst was being there in person for Maia vs. that scrub Mario Miranda. That was an absolute gimme fight for Maia (who I was such a huge fan of at the time), and it was an absolute crowd killer... which was pretty amazing to pull off as we were all deflated after Gray dominated Kenny.

Oh I was pumped when Sass got it too, I've been a fan since his UFC debut but I didn't think he could sub a guy like Volkmann. I was very happy to admit I was wrong in that fight. But I don think any sub will ever get me as pumped as I was when Frank locked up the Kimura.

And Guy I didn't know you were there for that one, that must've sucked. I expected Maia to end him fast, no such luck. I was actually just watching that fight, really wish he'd gotten that armbar so we wouldn't have to see any more.

I think I'm gonna start spelling Forrest's last name Griffen so it matches my AV. Man I hate seeing the number of misspelled AVs on the site

Speaking of Forrest I just read an interview he gave about he and Tito this weekend

“I’m very motivated. I tried to be nice and say nice things about Mr. Ortiz and talk about he’s a legend and he just said I’m kind of a p–sy, so f–k him.”

That entire day ruled, and without a doubt, one of the most fun days I've ever had. Fan expo, so met a bunch of fighters was during the day, and then at the event, as I was getting my first beer of the night, my brother and I accosted Rashad Evans as he was getting a hot dog (he was hosting MMA Live and they were set up a few sections down from us), and he took a picture with us.

And during the "Baba O'Reilly" montage they showed, when they showed Griffin/Bonnar at the end, Bonnar (also hosting MMA Live that night) was looking on with the biggest smile on his face, which I thought was extremely cool.

Oh shit you got a fan expo too? Lucky SOB.....that all sounds awesome dude. I was crushed when going to 148 fell through because I was mostly amped for the fan expo and actually being in Vegas for International Fight Week. Next time I suppose, I'm still extremely happy I went to 146 and met all the guys I did, Brad Pickett is still the coolest fighter I've ever met. Plus when I go to Fox 4 I'm gonna be stalking Brian Stann big time.

They are supposed to be back here in Indiana in September. I didn't get a chance to go to 119, but I heard the crowd was horrible and Shitdog was constantly referring to all Indiana resident as hicks and going on about how we never deserved another UFC card again. I cried a little

Yeah, I'm really PO'ed that I wasn't able to pull off a trip to Vegas for this card. I'd love to go to another fan expo, and maybe I'll be able to do it next year.

Well, when you have the greatest fight of all time like Mir/Cro Cop was, and a complete barnburner like Bader/Nogueira was, and a fight that wasn't a complete letdown at all like Guillard/Stephens was, I mean come on!

The Indiana card sucked anyways. Hopefully if the one in September does materialize it'll be better then that snorfest of a fight between Mir and CroCop.

I was so excited at first. Mir/Nog 2, Bader/Lil Nog, Lytle/Serra 2, then Nog dropped out, Cro Cop and Mir danced for 13 minutes, Bader sort of laid on Nog, Sherk was gifted a win over Dunham and I was glad I couldn't go.

Lylte/Serra turned out decent, Serra forgot to show up and Mittrione/Beltran was good and Mark Hunt was arm barred by McCorkle, but those wouldn't have made up for it. So yeah in retrospect it was good I caught it at Bdubs instead

I keep forgetting the massive mismatch that is Chad Mendes/Cody McKenzie is on the card too. I like Faber and I love me some Benavidez and the rest of the Alpha Male guys are ok but I dislike Mendes. I'd love to see him choked out though I can't help but feel like Mendes will lay on him for 15 minutes and do that flip thing he does

Cody was the absolute best for the way he clowned Koscheck every time Kos tried talking smack to him on TUF, and his pre-fight interview before the Marc Stevens fight...

"He's probably got better cardio than me. Probably a better wrestler, got more KO power, better scrambles, better overhand right..."

"So, what do you bring to the table?"

"Well, I'm gonna win."

I could definitely see the scenario where Mendes gets caught in a guillotine. Let's not forget too that Cody trains with the Cesar Gracie camp now, and has probably picked up a thing or two from the Diaz Brothers.

Cody was my favorite part of that season of TUF, he was the only guy with a real personality on that show. I think this will be his fight to prove he belongs and I expect Mendes to come into this with a boatload of confidence and little respect for Cody. Hopefully Cody's time finally training with a real team will have him set to tear Chad apart. Odds are if he does win he'll get bullied a while and then slap a sub on. I'll be praying during his fight.

Nothin like a good sub video. Babalu showin Heath a lesson in respect will always be one of my favorite UFC moments. Sure it was illegal and dangerous but c'mon, who aside from David Heath didnt enjoy that a little? Go to sleep bitch.

One of the guys in this picture doesn't belong. Brendan Schaub, I can't stand that guy

Nick Diaz picks Chael Sonnen to beat Anderson... makes it much easier to deal with if Sonnen wins Saturday, lol (plus I genuinely would be happy for Guy as a friend if he got to see his favorite fighter win such a huge bout).

And I doubt that weight thing ends up being much of a problem. If Thiago can cut 30 pounds, then a wrestler like Chael should be able to cut 20.

Though, that might end up being a huge factor if the fights makes it to the later rounds. With that kind of cut I don't think Chael will have the same kind of cardio we're used to seeing from him.

Earlier in the thread there was a discussion about who the "real" Chael Sonnen was... I think this interview shows his true colors and not him playing a role to cause a stir. Classy stuff from Chael here.

Awesome video, there's something any who bashes Chael for being a dick needs to see, gotta realize there's the promotional marketing Chael and the genuine nice guy Chael who is the guy I became a fan of so long ago.

Fuel TV here in Australia just aired Silva vs. Sonnen 1. After seeing that I could not be more excited to see this fight come Sunday.

Mike Dolce is overseeing Chael's weightcut and everything is apparently going to plan. I trust his judgment.
