MMA August - Where Frankie Edgar Needs 10 Rounds For A Title Defense

I agree on Danzig, funny how he was such a hot ticket on TUF and coming off the show but since then he's struggled to stay alive. His brightest moment since UFC 83 was the Stevenson KO, talk about another sad fall from grace. But yeah if Gomi stays out of those positions he'll be fine and probably knock Mac out.

I'm just praying they re do Hendo-Jones because I'm probably going to 155 and I dont want to see Machida lose again. If I saw Hendo fight live I'd about shit myself and it's an intriguing fight. But as much as I want that I agree with you on having to fight your way back to contendership.

If Schaub has a brain in that thick skull he'll try to get the fight to the ground instead of proving he can striking, then again I don't think he will and I dont want to see him do that. Lavar ftw

The way I look at it is this: Machida could have had his shot and he decided against it. Therefore, Dana will likely force him to the back of the line, especially given the fact that Jones already beat him.

Hendo deserves his shot and I hope he gets it.

That's a good point, the two guys who would fight instead of Dan turned down the shot so if he really wants it and the fans do as well then lets do it.

If they do go that route I highly doubt they put the fight at 155, unfortunately. The only way they would is if JDS/Cain got scrapped due to one of them getting injured.

And if/when Chael beats Forrest, I don't see any scenario where he doesn't get the next crack at Jones. Chael vs. Jones is big $$$. Jones vs. Hendo was drawing horribly from what I read.

Imagine Jones vs. Chael for Super Bowl weekend, with Nick Diaz co-headlining on top of that? I just don't see the UFC risking away that kind of payday.

To be fair though, Jones/Hendo was likely trending poorly due to the fact that the rest of the card was a steaming pile of shit and Jake Ellenberger vs. Jay Hieron was co-maining. Don't get me wrong, I like Ellenberger, and still think he has potential, at the same time, he has no clout with casual fans, and Hieron is a virtual unknown to casual fans and is a horrifically boring fighter.

I think if Jon puts away Vitor soundly(which he should) and still wants to get in as many fights as he can then 155 is plausible considering Dana said that the UFC owes Vegas for 151, stacking up a new years card may be just the way he does it.

I do believe there were one or two that got put on PPVs Yaz, but they were undercard. I believe Noke-Brenneman was put on 152's undercard.

Oh shit, did you guys read Jones tweet where he said he was "carrying the cross for the company." I don't think he was comparing himself to Kimo Leopoldo

Clearly comparing himself to his teammate who paved the way for him to get the title in the first place :)

Hendo vs. Machida is the right way to go IMO. Rashad had to fight his way back to a title shot after missing the initial one due to injury... I think Hendo deserves the same treatment.

I don't know, Hendo did choose to wait almost an entire year for a fight with Jones, during which he ducked Machida, so I wouldn't put it past him to say "I won't fight anybody besides Jones."

Jones needs to embrace the heel roll now.

I know he's a good dude deep down and the thought of him being resented makes him uncomfortable, but he has to realize that in the long run it will pay off big time. Not just money wise, either, but the fans will eventually come to love him.

Since you're going to be at the show, I'll hope that you're right so you can experience that in person, lol.

If he did embrace it there would be a lot less people calling him fake.

I think it was rumored that Hendo ducked Lil' Nog during his wait. I can't say I blame him for that, that win doesn't do much for him

Lol... good point, but it wouldn't be his choice at this point I don't think. Hendo has already said he'd take a fight against someone other than Jones for his return bout, and I think that's because he knows he's part of the blame for UFC 151 getting canceled. The guy waited 3 weeks to report his injury. I know he wanted to work through it, but that was still really irresponsible.

I don't think Hendo is in any position to demand anything at this point. He rejected fights with Machida and Little Nog (which either one could have helped the UFC while they struggled with all these injuries happening left and right), and like I said above, he's part of the blame for the 151 debacle. Hopefully he has some integrity and doesn't throw a bitch fit if the UFC matches him up with someone other than Jones.

He didn't need a fight to "do something for him." Whether he fought Lil Nog or Machida, all he had to do was win and he would be guaranteed a title shot. Instead he chose to sit out for an entire year, only to get injured right before the title shot he chose to wait for.

He could have helped the UFC out and fought Nog or Machida, but chose not to. He could have helped the UFC out by reporting his injury three weeks ago when it was sustained. But he chose not to and yet, Jones is the one who "isn't a company man" :icon_rolleyes:

I think both guys are at fault. Yes Hendo should have reported his injury three weeks ago when he first hurt himself, but Jones turning down a short notice fight wasn't good for business either. You can also blame the higher ups for having so many cards that it was too watered down to hold without that main event

Jon Jones is a fucking BABY, take #44098292

Jones was very upset after Chael began calling him out and mocking him on Twitter, going as far as to contact White and ask him to tell Chael to stop

What Sonnen has said about Jones is NOTHING compared to how badly he went to town on Silva, Machida, the Nogueiras, Wanderlei, and the entire country of Brazil. It's well known that I'm not Anderson Silva's biggest fan, but even he never went to the point of going to Dana White and asking Chael to stop.

Yeah I read that earlier and I don't buy it. The Wrestling Observer has been embarrassing themselves lately with some of their stories.

If it is true, then yeah... Jones doesn't look good at all. But I don't think it's fair to make the assumption that this is fact just because a dirtsheet pro wrestling website says it is, while also not citing a source. I'm sure Jones and maybe even Dana will deny it within the next couple of days.

Cast of the newest season of TUF was revealed today. Haven't checked it out myself but it will be fun to see two big HWs in Carwin and Nelson coaching guys at 170
