MMA July - Now featuring Heisenberg's tears

I saw Sonnen in the audience of a Monday Night Raw show. It makes sense now; he obviously has been influenced by professional wrestling and his over-the-top persona is definitely a reflection of that. For instance, a lot of the expressions he uses are professional wrestling-esque.

The big question on my mind is if this persona is genuinely Chael Sonnen, or if it's only a guise for ulterior or personal motives.

Either way, professional wrestling has obviously influenced him to some degree.

Yeah he and CM Punk are BFF's, he either did or was going to have Punk walk out with him for his last fight. And I believe it was after the Stann fight that he did the Billy Graham promo, brilliant moment.

And the over the top Chael is definitely small a part of who he is but he's a very different guy in the real world. You can see a little into the real Chael when he was just featured in Matt Serra's video log from last week, he does a little TV Chael but you see a very chill down to earth guy.

Regarding the quality of the big MMA forums, it's sad to see how far the UG has fallen. Shitdog has always been horrendous, but the UG was once the place to be for MMA related talk. Now it's full of the absolute worst type of MMA fans imaginable. It makes me laugh when they rag on Sherdog when they are almost as bad.

Also, fuck Fedor/Cro Cop, Silva/Sonnen II is the biggest MMA fight of all time and I can't wait to see Anderson kick Chael's teeth down his throat. I could not be more pumped for friday. My picks will be up tomorrow. It's been a hella long day and I can't comprehend a thought right now.

The UFC is officially going to China in November. Dana just announced on his twitter the event will be in Macau. Not sure what kind of market that will be but we'll see.

I'm not even going to defend myself as a Sonnen fan to Baconbits. I've been a fan for a long time.

And for the last time, Sonnen was on board to have the fight in Brazil. They logistically couldn't make it work in the 80,000 seat stadium though because of the UN Conference. That staredown yesterday... holy shit, I just want this fight to happen now.

Right here. Silva/Sonnen is gonna be huge, Forrest is the guy who got me into MMA and he may be retiring, Tito is going out. Just too much to not miss

Course I am, no way in hell I'd miss Chael whoopin ass, Tito's last fight and Cote's return. Plus I was gonna go to the event originally so in order to not go into full depression knowing I could have been there I have to watch the PPV. Probly gonna get the boys together and watch on the 65 in screen :D

Well... there is a difference between ordering and watching through other means like I usually do... :). Last one I actually ordered was 134.

The last one I ordered was 133, but I've seen every event since one way or another. Our sports bars are getting scarce, two of our best places just up and stopped showing PPV's. It's become a major pain in the ass.

Also Bisping wants Stann or Belcher some time around 152, but preferably Belcher. Stann wants Bisping so we'll probably be seeing that.

It's funny... you can't even get into a Wild Wings or Hooters around my area and it's literally a 2 minute drive between both places. I think bars showing the events puts a bigger ding in the buyrates than people streaming more than anything else.

I'm on board with either Bisping/Stann or Bisping/Belcher. Both would be great fights. My dream fight for Bisping still is Palhares.

My local Wild Wings is usually packed. We have one sports bar Show-Mes that plays the fights on a giant projector. Its cool until the drunks start standing in front of the projector. At 146 though there was almost no one. They ran out of vanilla vodka though, which put a damper on my drinking. They gave us whipped vodka instead. It was good but I felt like a woman drinking it...though idk why drinking vanilla vodka makes me feel manly

I'd like to see Bisping/Stann. That would be a pretty good fight to headline a Fox card. Bisping/Belcher would be good too and even though I think Belcher is way underrated he isn't a draw like Stann would be.

Our old spot was a sports bar called McCoveys(owned by SF Giant Willie McCovey) but they stopped showing em around 137. Now the nearest place is Hooters 30 minutes away and they charge ya admission even if you buy dinner, wish they'd told us before the event was starting. Worse yet they have some of the nastiest girls there.

I can't drink while watching events otherwise I'll be running to the head and I'm not about to miss any part of the fights for that. Guy next to me at 146 was downin 10 dollar beers the whole time and must've missed 3 fights all together. I drink after either to celebrate or cope with a defeat haha.

That's what fights like Maia/Kim are for :)

I'm hoping Maia remembers that he's a jiu-jitsu wizard for that fight and makes it quick. My god, that has the potential to be a 15 minute shitfest. "Stun Gun" indeed, every time I watch one of his fights I become incapacitated.

I hope so but that's what I was gonna use Volkmann-Sass for at 146 and by the time I got in line for the bathroom Sass was throwing on his triangle :banghead:

I certainly hope Maia remembers the reason he made it so far in this sport in the beginning but I've been wishing that since his first fight after 112 and it ain't happened yet.

I like DHK, not like I like Fitch but I still like him. He did show some improved striking in his last bout but I think he will try to stifle Maia. Hopefully the Maia that showed up against Miranda stays at home and the Maia that took out Chael shows up

Forgot to mention that I just re-watched Sonnen/Bisping. I thought Sonnen clearly took the fight. He did enough to take round 1 as Bisping really didn't do anything and round 3, he dominated. It was definitely a close fight, but for people to say Bisping won, that's pretty ludicrous.

Also, say what you want about Chael being a "boring wrestler", but he was pretty actively looking for the finish in the third against Bisping. And that's the difference between Chael and a guy like Fitch. Chael will always stay active and if he sees an opportunity for a submission, he'll go for it.
