I found it hard to explain so i just got the Wikipedia definition..

Independent wrestling refers to a professional wrestling organization that is smaller in size of the promotion and have a smaller target population than a larger national organization like World Wrestling Entertainment. Normally their shows largely use lesser known wrestling talent, sometimes in concert with more known talent formerly from larger organizations like Total Nonstop Action Wrestling or WWE.

An Indy promotion is a wrestling promotion, (a real one, not an e-fed), where wrestlers usually get trained for the big leagues, and can sometimes get scouted by the big promotions to train with them as a prospect.

So, basically, if you're just starting wrestling, you would most-likely be wrestling in an indy (independant) promotion as a starting-out point.

Sometimes, you can have a parent company, (like TNA or WWE), who recruit wrestlers from their lower promotion onto the main roster. For example: TNA is the parent company to Ring Of Honor Wrestling, and WWE is the parent company to Ohio Valley Wrestling. Both of those big companies also semi-share another indy promotion called Combat Zone Wrestling (Hardcore/Garbage fed).

Wikipedia can be edited by anyone. I could go into Lita's page and edit it to say she's married to Triple H. The same with IMDB, although that does take a while to get things processed. Basically neither are very reliable when it comes to biographies.

Funny passages on WWE profiles: It was listed at one time that Melina is a huge fan of death metal, especially Cannibal Corpse. That would have been awesome, but I highly doubt it - it's no longer listed there, proving my speculation correct.

Another funny moment: On the Wikipedia profile for Ashley, someone had written in one paragraph "Ashley is really hot and I would like to have sex with her all night long". No joke. I go to the webpage often and it's very informative and often amusing for the reasons listed above, but sometimes you have to take what you see with a grain of salt.

a babyface is the same thing as a face. a face is just a good guy in wrestling, and a heel is a bad guy
