MMA March - Never Leave it in the Hands of the Guy Who Calculates the Scorecards

Bendo made a great point about Pettis:

"Of course he's going to go out and say that stuff because he wants his guy to fight for the belt," Henderson tensely responded. "What did you have Jeremy Stephens ranked before the Anthony Pettis fight? Not in the top ten. What did you have Joe Lauzon ranked before his fight?

"Does someone who has a split-decision over someone who is not ranked, and then has a pretty good win against the No. 10 guy, is he deserving of a title shot because of those two wins? Or is he deserving of a title shot because he beat me last?"

"Do I want to face Pettis again? Absolutely," Henderson explained. "We will see each other again. Before I retire, before I die, I'm going to see Anthony Pettis again. But it's not my job to give him a title shot. It's not up to me be like, ‘oh hey, I want to fight this guy. Lets go see this guy.' It's his job to work his way up to me.

"I can't jump the line and not fight the No. 1 contender, and then go fight the No. 4 guy or No. 3 guy or No. 10 guy."

"Hopefully people will start to realize and understand, I will fight anybody. I don't care. I'm going to smash them."

People will say that's him "ducking" Pettis, but to me there's nothing he said that wasn't true.

As much as I like Frankie, i'm sick and fucking tired of seeing the same fights. The division is so stacked and we're stuck watching the same shit over and over again. It's fucking repetitive.

Yeah, I think Edgar should have done what's right for the company and go down to 145. It's what everyone wanted to see, but he's being very selfish. I mean, it's his career and he can do whatever he wants, but for the fans and for the company that's backed him 100% (let's not forget him receiving a LW shot against BJ in the first place was a gift), I think he should have dropped to 145.

Frankie dropping down to 145 is what's best for Dana; certainly not best for Frankie. All Dana cares about is making money, and he knows that Aldo vs. Frankie would be a massive money maker, and that's the only reason he wants Frankie to move down. Also, Frankie fighting Aldo would be nearly the exact same thing as fighting Bendo. Jose cuts a lot of weight for 145 (I heard he walks around 180, but please correct me if I'm wrong) and is a lot better skill wise than Bendo. Honestly, if people say that Bendo will go through Frankie in the second fight, than there is no reason not to say that Aldo would destroy Frankie. When you think about it, facing Aldo is a lot worse of a choice for Frankie than facing Bendo again.

I think Frankie beats Bendo in the rematch, unfortunately. He'll come in with a safer game plan, and I don't think Bendo will land the shots he was able to in the first fight.

Edgar/Aldo is impossible to call, which is why I and everyone else want to see that fight.

But oh well. If Aldo vs. Hioki gets set-up then I'm not complaining about anything. I also think Nate Diaz stands a much better chance against Frankie than he does Bendo, so if Nate gets a title shot, I'd much rather it'd be against Edgar.

WAIT WHAT THE HELL

“Anderson, over the last several months, I’ve disparaged your name in attempt to garner respect and attention for my own. That was wrong and I apologize. My actions were unsportsmanlike, they were uncalled for.”

In sane news...

On Tuesday, MMA Fighting began to ask company president Dana White if he was reconsidering his decision to shut the door on a Sylvia return, but he didn't even need to wait for the question to be finished before giving an emphatic response.

"Hell no," he said. "Hell no."

Yea, fuck Chael. Back to the Frankie situation, i dont see how dropping to Featherweight is in any way a bad move. H'ed get an automatic title shot and likely a hefty raise for helping out the company. It's a win-win and a much better scenerio than him whining his way into a rematch. Him dropping to Featherweight is certaintly better for him and the company.

Edgar is light years ahead of anyone in the featherweight division barring Jose Aldo, very disappointed that fight won't go down but you know this is a great match up too.

Even though I'ma big fan Jim Miller, I'm crossing my fingers for Diaz to win and we see Diaz vs Pettis, what a fucking fight.

Frankie will actually do something with the caught legs kicks instead of jabbing off of them this time. Like kicking out the back leg and putting Bendo on his back. He'll land a G n' P shot or two, then back up and let Bendo up. Rinse/wash/repeat on his way to a decision victory.

Mr. Chael is realizing that he doesn't want to poke The Spider. A pissed off Anderson looking for the KO instead of the sub murders Chael every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Chael ended the video by telling Anderson he changed his mind and that he can kiss his ass

Big Foot Silva vs. Roy Nelson is on for UFC 146.

Good fight, though a very tough one to call. Nelson very well may be one of the worst possible match-ups for Big Foot in the Heavyweight Division.

I'm thinking Roy wins this. He's a more complete fighter and has (amazingly) better cardio and athleticism.

Supposedly this is Tim Sylvia attempting to show off so the UFC will sign him. The description of the video is "beast mode"

Alan Belcher confirms why Palhares is stuck fighting cans like Massenzio.

Belcher also probably made the second worst decision of his life by taking this fight..

They offered me someone else that I didn't think was, I don't know, the right fight for me. Joe was kind of like, 'Well, there's nobody else unless you want to fight Palhares, and nobody wants to fight him.' To me, that made perfect sense. I know it's a dangerous fight, but I knew it would put me where I wanted to be. I really want a challenge.

Werdum vs. Russow is on for the Brazil June card.

This means only one thing. We're getting Mark Hunt vs. Stefan Struve. I am so excited.

Also on the topic of Russow, I can't stop watching this gif and I don't remember it being as funny as it is now as it was back then.

Did anything notable happen on the last couple of TUF preliminary fights? I fell asleep on the eighth fight. Should've recorded it.

So Rampage has been bitching and moaning about the UFC ruining him and that he wants to be released. I've lost all respect for the guy, he's pathetic.

Well, Cro Cop and Sefo fought today and Cro Cop won by decision. Both guys looked pretty bad and the fight wasn't really exciting.
