MMA GSD for April: The Countdown to GSP Beating a Dead Horse

I wasn't that thrilled with TUF premiere. Doesn't look like it's going to be a very exciting season to be honest, outside of maybe a few Lesnar blow-ups. Dos Santos seems like way too nice and humble of a guy to bring the lulz like past coaches like Rampage did. Speaking of Rampage, god damn was he the worst coach in TUF history or what?

I'm looking forward to the Lesnar-Dos Santos fight itself much more than watching this season.

Oh and I just watched Akiyama vs. Belcher from UFC 100, that was a great little fight, really enjoyed that one.

The only way I will go though is if Gomi fights, which is definitely possible for a UFN card like that.

Did you agree with the decision? There was a lot of "controversy" around it, but I thought it was clear as day Sexyama won that fight 2 Rounds to 1.
 
Akiyama definitely won that fight, that's the impression I got. First round was a bit of a toss up, but he soundly won the second round and controlled him on the ground pretty much throughout it all and I'd say he won the third round as well, though that was pretty close when Belcher started throwing hands towards the end of the fight, trying to score some points back. Sexyama definitely won though, not sure what the controversy there was. It's not like Rampage vs. Lyoto or something where the wrong guy won pretty obviously.
 
I thought Akiyama landed the more powerful shots. Belcher just used distance and range, but outside of the shot where he closed Akiyama's eye, I don't really feel he landed much of anything with substance.

I can't believe nobody commented on the fact that Fedor is considering a move to 205.

I did a few page's back... it's just hard to give an opinion on it when it's just speculation at this point. When his next fight is announced (which should be in the next few days), then I'm sure everyone will chime in with what they think.
 
It just makes me want to streamline the MMA forum forum into something that allows for something other than this type of news into something other than the GSD.

You can, but you just have to make sure you state your opinion on the topic in the OP. Even if it's just one or two sentences that's fine, but that's how this forum has been set-up (not just the MMA Section, but the entire forum outside of the spam sections).

Oh man, I'm so fucking stoked for Saturday's Strikeforce card. Seems like I haven't been this excited for a complete show in quite some time.

Sonnen's sentencing is tomorrow. He'll likely get a slap on the wrist. Fuck TUF, make Sonnen/Bisping the co-main of 132.

Edit: Nevermind, 132 is in Las Vegas. Dammit Chael.

Hey guys, here are the changes that I proposed to JMT about our MMA section. Since we're small, but tight-knit, JMT suggest I post them in here and we see how you all feel about it.

Rather than have ONE gigantic News section, I propose the following

UFC/StrikeForce News

Bellator/TPF News

Other Organizations (DREAM, M-1, K-1, etc..)

Boxing News

These should be stickied. If you have to sort through all the news and tidbits it gets a bit ridiculous.

It would also be cool to have an MMA Lounge of sorts where we can discuss possible cross-promotional match-ups, dream match-ups, and other MMA related things that aren't spam, but don't quite need to be in the GSD thread.

I'm all for some changes in the section, but the only thing is that the UFC/Strikeforce stickied would get the most traffic, just be like what the mma news/tidbits is now. Dream and others hardly get mentioned except for their 2-3 big shows they have a year, except for Bellator.

Instead, why not have one stickied thread for all upcoming fights announced no matter what organization.

One for fighter's in the news, like Silva being suspended, Chael's legal troubles, or whatever the news tidbit is, doesn't have to be negative news.

Definitely a boxing one, Calderownz has been keeping boxing alive here, it would basically be JMT and myself posting something boxing related every once in a while.

The Lounge sounds good, be a good place to insert good interviews and such, that we can discuss, and match ups we would like to see as you mentioned.
 
Sonnen was sentenced to two years probation and a 10k fine, on the one charge of money laundering. Good, now get him and Bisping tapped as the next coaches, and a fight booked between the two, now that this is behind Sonnen.
 
Pretty sure Sonnen can't be a coach without a license in Nevada. You need to be licensed to corner fighters. From what i've read it isn't looking good for him being on TUF.
 
Don't agree with that. Let's throw a guy into a championship fight who is coming off two straight losses, and is cutting to 205 for the first time in his entire career. Can't blame them though. They have no depth at all in the LHW division. I was hoping they'd see if Gegard would beat Jardine, then have him fight for the title. Whatever. I'll watch it, but I don't agree with it.
 
That card is also rumored to be a pay-per-view card. Fuck that shit. That was another reason why I don't fucking like Zuffa buying up Strikeforce.
