MMA January - Johny Hendricks Beard Appreciation Society

Have you guys been watching UFC Primetime on FX? If not, you really need to download these last two episodes; it's easily the best production the UFC has ever put out.

The last 5 minutes in tonight's episode in particular with GSP was fucking intense. If Diaz loses to Condit, I think the UFC is going to miss out on a bunch of $$$ because after tonight, I don't know how anyone could not want to see Diaz vs. GSP.

George Sotiropoulos is out of the Gomi fight due to injury and is being replaced by Eiji Mitsuoka.

Gomi's definitely getting back in the win column now. Eiji is no bum, but he's not, nor has he ever been, anywhere near Gomi's level.

I hope you're right. Coincidentally I am glad G Sot pulled out. I hated that fight seeing as I don't want either guy to lose.

I hope this is real so badly......

Fucking Mark Hunt, LOL. Also, the UFC has stepped their game up in every regard for the Fox deal. The fact that theae Primetime episodes are so damn good so early in the deal is fantastic.

Remember when I said that we're going to see a different GSP than we've ever seen against Diaz? Just wait, JMT ;)

Nah, GSP will still jab and go straight for the takedown. Whether it works for 5 Rounds, we'll see. :)

But, I did love GSP's intensity on Primetime. It definitely got me pretty pumped to see him fight Diaz, lol.

At least it was for free  .

Also, I was pretty in to the Sonnen fight, and the main event wasn't all that terrible. The Weidman vs. Maia fight though was terrible. Overall though, I'm not that disappointed by the card, but 2 of the 4 guys I was pulling for won (Chael and Rashad.)

I really enjoyed the Bisping/Chael fight too. However, Maia/Weidman was terrible due to Maia thinking he's a kickboxer, and I just expected the Rashad that we saw against Tito. Davis was gassed after the second, Rashad should have finished him.

I don't know. If I were a person who wanted to check out the UFC and see what it was all about tonight, I don't think I would be too inclined to keep checking it out.

Yeah that's true. I guess it was a card that only intense fans could enjoy, and people exploring the sport probably wouldn't like it.

Watching Maia stand up is frustrating. Him and Rousimar Palhares are probably the only 2 guys in the UFC that are better off just pulling guard during a fight.

Yeah you guys summed it up pretty well, the Weidman-Maia fight was shit, the Chael-Bisping fight was interesting for the guys like us who had a vested interest but probably didnt do much for casual/first time viewers and Rashad-Davis was lame. I like Guy was expecting the beastly Rashad from the Tito fight but no luck there, Phil didn't threaten at all on the feet, if Rashad werent so worried about lasting 5 rounds he could have unleashed and gotten a TKO/KO easily.

Really wish they could have shown Johnson-Beltran, Dunham-Lentz or Oliveira-Wisely after the main event like they do at PPV's but they obviously don't have the time to do so.

It's funny because although he's obviously better on the ground I loved seeing him be confident and have success with his stand up when he fought Munoz, this go around he looked like a slightly modified version of the guy we saw fight Marquardt. He was way to predictable, even though he occasionally mixed it up we saw way too much pawing with the right and throwing the left haymaker, it was plain ugly mixed in with him and Weidman both being gassed as fuck.

I know Maia wants to be a good well rounded fighter but you work on all facets of your game, it's like Joe said about Koscheck working striking without keeping up his wrestling abilities. He focused to much on improving one other area of his game and ignored what made him good in the first place, with Maia it's what made him one of the most dangerous sub specialists to ever step in the octagon. The guy wants to be a well rounded fighter, but the old one dimensional Maia had a hell of alot more success. I just hope this one was a fluke where he was sick or nursing some injury that make him gas and next time he'll come in with a better game plan.

Honestly, if I were booking the next UFC on Fox card...

Main Event:
BJ Penn vs. Josh Koscheck (BJ has stated he wants to unretire)

Co-Main:
Thiago Silva vs. Stephan Bonnar

Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz (already announced)

You need big names and exciting fights to draw in casual fans and keep them tuned in.

I like it, and those are all fights that would have to try hard to not be entertaining. Only thing would be making sure that Kos comes out of his fight next week without getting too banged up.

Also idk if this is old news but I havent heard about it, G Sots is out of the Gomi fight. He's being replaced by Eiji Mitsuoka, who holds wins over Joachim Hansen and Gleison Tibau.

The UFC should definitely concentrate on producing entartaining fights for the Fox cards.

And I really have to appluad the UFC for stepping up their game for the production on Fox. The production made it feel like the show belonged at the centre of national attention. Everything felt right, it was professional but honest at the same time.

Turns out that Chael's post fight promo last night was a rip-off of the one below...

Badr Hari may be the most stupid human being on the planet. He DESTROYED a healthy, 100% Gokhan Saki way worse than Overeem, even though Overeem beat a Saki that was functioning at maybe 50%. He then proceeds to retire from Kickboxing. It pisses me off because in my mind, he is undoubtedly the best Kickboxer in the world right now. Who knows what could have been if he didn't retire...

THE SUFFERING HAS BEEN ENDED.

Tonight, UFC President Dana White revealed exclusively to the Underground that the opening sequence for it's PPV broadcast has been redone and the new introduction will be revealed this Saturday for UFC 143. The event will feature Nick Diaz fighting Carlos Condit for the interim welterweight championship in the main event.

Yeah, Saki was fucking Overeem up even with a debilitating injury. I wouldn't be suprrised if Hari goes into boxing for the cash though.

Hari is without a doubt the best current(i know he's retiring)kickboxer on the planet and the idea of him stopping pisses me off. He's talking about boxing but I really hope he realizes where he belongs and gets back to it.

And I don't wanna get rid of the gladiator opener!!! :disappointed:

Well, there's no more competition in kickboxing for Badr, so why stay there when he could come to boxing, make some serious $$$, and become a much bigger star than he is?

Heavyweight Boxing needs a new superstar, and Badr Hari is just what the doctor ordered. I couldn't be more excited about it.

Now, if only Masato would try out boxing...

Badr is easily the most gifted Kickboxer of all time and he's leaving, in his prime, without a GP(which he would have won in 2010). It sucks
