MMA GSD For March - The Michael Bisping Appreciation Station

When I say I'll be watching 130, I mean i'll be buying it and watching it on a big tv with mates.

Of course i'll be seeing 129, its looking great, but it'll probably be on the computer.. With you bastards heh

Guys i'll be seeing it with dont really know many names (not even Couture!) Only Lesnar and Rampage really, so they arent interested in seeing guys they dont know. Hopefully the other fights on the card will get them into a few others. Simply I would pay for UFC 129, but I dont know of anyone willing to split it or watch it for that matter so I might as well just check it out by myself.

Did you just get into MMA? Not trying to be a dick, I'm just asking.

I have been watching for a few months, so yeah I would say so.

It isnt very big in this town, aside from the pro wrestling fans who love Lesnar.

That said, I havent exactly gone out of my way to look for local MMA fans.

Well awesome, dude. Welcome to these Forums, check out the MMA section, too as this is just the general spam discussion.

What town is that, exactly?

Dude who gives a fuck if they don't know names. Better get them used to hearing about Jose Aldo. He is GUARANTEED to have a amazing fight at 129, and I promise he will leave your friends in awe over his ability. Not to mention GSP in his hometown? How much better can you get?!?! This is the absolute perfect card for somebody to get into MMA.

Yes ITGG, JMT is a Tito fan. We are probably the only two on the forum

Shepparton, Australia :p

Rural town, about 30,000 people, lots of no hopers looking for fights.

Just want to clarify that I am not a complete noob to all this, I have been watching since 116 and lurk the MMA section alot, I have watched a few classic fights and will be watching every upcoming card. I am beyond just knowing Lesnar and Rampage obviously :p

The issue is we are all paying for the card together, as a uni student, I'd rather watch it by other means if the alternative is paying for it all by myself. The locals I know as I said, are pro wrestling fans just curious to see Lesnar etc. hardly going to convince these people to put in for a fighter they dont know, hope that makes more sense.

Whatever floats your boat man. I know i'll be watching it on my 50 inch tv in HD. Would hate myself if I didn't.

I wasn't saying that at all. But since you brought it up, I've been watching since UFC 1, haha.

Dude, I completely got you on the University student aspect. I'm working on my Post-Grad. I already have a Masters.

I understand being completely broke and streaming shit. Although, doesn't Australia watch UFC on ESPN?

I'm sadly absent from LDs on PPVs I watch in my living room. No laptop. I'll be here for 128, 130, and 131 though.

Dont know about the rest of the country, but in my state we watch it on a pay channel called 'The Main Event', boxing and pro wrestling pay per views etc.

Yeah, glad you can understand the money issue :p Not that I dont want to, but well I dont want to spend 50 dollars on a card when I can watch it in less ideal circumstances for much less money.

As I said, I am keen to learn everything I can, I watched the first 3 UFC cards.. Commentating was absolutely hilarious in UFC 1, and UFC 3 was a cocktease. I purposefully went in not knowing the results, and that ending was just anticlimactic.

I'll also say it was the Undisputed games that introduced me to MMA, of course I started watching it when I heard Lesnar was involved, after he lost to Mir I lost interest, but then the game came out and I got into it. My main fighters in 2009 were Kongo and Sylvia, I had alot to learn back then :p

Whose your favorite fighters so far, and what is your favorite fights? Here is some advise though. Avoid UFC 9 at all costs. I beg of you.

Kashagi weren't you Steve (something) before? If it is you did you ever check out the fights a few of us suggested for you a few months back when you posted that thread?

Haha, Holy shit, I would never admit to Kongo and Sylvia in public again. That's like saying your two favorite girls are Snooki and Delta Burke.

Yeah, you're right about it being 'Main Event.' I thought it might have been ESPN because that's what the UK uses.

I watch every single UFC, I just don't pay for every single UFC. I can't remember the last time that I missed a UFC. I mean, I've missed them live, but I've recorded them and not let anyone ruin the results until I got to watch them.

I usually catch them all live, though.

I miss them for a family get together, but almost always get back in time to see the main event at least. If I don't see it live I pirate it a few weeks later.

Why is that? (UFC 9)

My favourite list is not very original really.

Reading Armbar's posts about Fedor back before he was beaten really got me into him, I have watched almost all of his fights now, pity I chose such a bad time to start following him.
Hamill, Sotiropoulos, Big Nog, Penn, Hendo.. I have grown to like a fair few fighters, but those are some names I have become a big fan of.

I actually like Bisping as well, though he was a cunt for 127. I just find hes pretty funny usually, and to be honest I really dont give a shit if he wins or loses, even though I like him, seeing him lose is often more satisfying.

Just a few I like, I am still learning about alot of people

Just thought you might be amused at who the first fighters I was exposed to are :p

I cant stand either of them anymore, but they seemed alright at the start of that game haha

I say do not watch UFC 9 because the main event is easily, and quite bluntly the worst fight ever. I shudder thinking about how boring it was. 10 minutes of standing there, followed by 10 minutes of laying on eachother, followed by ten more minutes of staring at each other, followed by five more minutes of laying on eachother.

What about Anderson Silva? His fight against Forrest Griffin is in my opinion the most awesome few moments in UFC history.

I was wondering if anyone would remember that.

I have watched most of what was posted there, thanks for that by the way. I have seen all TUF seasons (and actually wasnt aware of all the love for Griffin/Bonnar, going into that not knowing anything was a treat).

Actually the only show mentioned in that thread I havent seen is Pride 33. I'll have to get onto that.

I like Silva, but I only listed the names I have become a big fan of.

My favorites are

Machida (Obviously)

Munoz

Aldo

Pettis

Roller

Edgar

Guida

Velasquez

Schaub

Sonnen

GSP

Actually you might want to add Edgar to the list of names I am really liking, his Rocky style comeback was the second holy shit moment I have had in MMA so far (the first being Brocks dethroning)

Scratch what I said about the Anderson-Forrest fight being the most amazing few moments ever for me. When Pettis kicked Bendo I almost shit my pants. That is far and away the most awesome thing I have ever seen in a sporting event.

I was about to say. Showtime's kick to Bendo was fucking brilliant. Only other move that counters that was Imada's inverted triangle on Masvidal at Bellator 5
