Way to state the obvious.
And yet, the first you've acknowledged it. Probably says more about you than me.
Sure you are.
I give credit to a teams success to the components that are successful.
Like the Broncos QB, right? He's been successful.
With Denver the defense has been greatly improved since the start of the season
Coincidentally, they started playing better around the same time the Broncos started winning.
Of course, the Broncos, coincidentally, started winning when Tebow was inserted as QB. But I'm sure it was totally a coincidence. The Broncos defense just magically got much better the moment Tebow entered the game.
I couldn't see the Packers being any better then 8-8 without Rodgers and the same goes for New Orleans. That record doesn't get you in the playoffs. Just look at the Colts. I'd say Manning is more important to the Colts then arguably any qb has ever been to his team but no one saw a 0-12 start happening.
Wonderful, I was hoping you'd say that. So you agree then, the quarterback can make all the difference in the world in the winning or losing of a team, correct? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you disputed that before, but now that you do agree with it, it gets one of the potential arguments against Tebow out of the way.
So where does that leave us? That leaves us a team that was 1-4 before Tebow and 6-1 after. You chalk this up to this magical ability of the Broncos defense to suddenly get better. I, and many others, chalk this up to change in quarterback, and the system which evolved to accommodate this change. Basically what I'm saying is that on one side, we have your argument of magic and on my side the argument of a quarterback (a position you agree can make all the difference in the world in the fortunes of a team) who has always been a winner being inserted in the lineup.
Magic or the insertion of a winner...which one seems more believable...
Once you understand this is the same defense that went 1-4, you'll understand why Tebow has been so valuable to this team. At which point, once you recognize Tebow has been the difference between a 1-4 team and a 6-1 team, you'll understand why some people would be willing to consider him as a Most Valuable Player. Because, much like the Colts and Peyton whom you've mentioned earlier, without Tebow the Broncos wouldn't be sniffing the playoffs right now. Hell, you yourself agreed Orton wasn't a playoff quarterback, and yet Tebow has them on pace for a playoff spot.
Sounds pretty valuable to me.
