NFL Week 10

In that last 20 years, only 5 teams have won a Super Bowl without having an elite level quarterback (Hostetler, Rypien, Dilfer, Gannon, Eli Manning). All five of THOSE quarterbacks made it to the Pro Bowl at least once, with Rypien and Gannon doing it in the year they won the Super Bowl.

The other quarterbacks are Hall of Famers (Aikman, Young, Elway), future Hall of Famers (Favre, Warner, Brady, Manning) or likely future Hall of Famers (Roethlisberger, Brees, Rodgers).

If you want to win a championship, you need an elite QB.

Brady, Manning, Toethisberger, Brees and Elway all had great offensive Linemen in front of them. If a team needs an elite Quarterback to win a Championship then a team needs an Elite Offensive Line if they want an elite Quarterback.

:lmao:

I named you 10 different players with Hall of Fame ties, and you give me 5 in response. Try again, Sparky.

Actually, on second thought, don't. Because offensive line is not a position.

Hardly, the Steelers had a solid Oline in 05. A bad line in 09 and a poor line in 2011...

You need a elite quarterback...

No one would argue against the importance of a strong offensive line. But obviously, for a team to be successful, they have to have an elite quarterback. I cannot imagine anyone would argue that the offensive line carries more importance than the man they protect.

Without a strong quarterback receiving the snaps, there will ultimately be no eventual team success and no Superbowl. Unfortunately, the Detroit Lions fans are about to learn this lesson the hard way :)

The 1985 Bears had Joe McMahon as their starting Quarterback and went on to 15-1 and win the Superbowl.

The 2005 Steelers didn't relay on Big Ben to win games. He had an average season with 2,500 yards and 17 touchdowns. Yet they managed to win a Superbowl And in 2008 Big Ben improved only a tad bit with a 3,000 yard season and 17 touchdowns. Not until recently when Big Ben stepped up his game Pittsburgh hasn't seen a Superbowl.

The 2001 Ravens won a Superbowl with Trent Difler was their QB.

The 2008 Giants won a Superbowl with Eli Manning as their QB.

You don't need an elite QB to win a Championship.

Matt Stafford has been a top 5 qb all year long. One bad game does not a season make. Don't be mad they have a better record then the Patriots at least for a few more hours.

In 2005 Big Ben won games when he needed too. He played well against Denver and Indianapolis. Eli in 2008 won games when he needed too. He played the best games of his career during that stretch...

The NFC North is the best division in football. The Packers are the best team in the NFL and the Lions (despite today's performance) and Bears are both very good teams who I believe will get the two wild card spots in the NFC

Correct, but never did the Steelers need Big Ben to throw 300 yards and 4 touchdown to win games. He came in the clutch and did his part, but in no way would you put him on the same level as Peyton Manning or Tom Brady (At least back in 2005)

Teams can win without an elite Quarterback. And teams can win games with an elite Quarterback.

The Ravens are the definition of playing to the level of their competition. Two wins over the Steelers, a win over the Texans, and a win over the Jets. They also have lost to the Titans, Jaguars, and Seahawks.

Niners go 8-1. It was a really close game tonight but such an entertaining one. Alex Smith suprising everybody this year

Completely different era of football. Interesting you had to go back nearly thirty years to make a point though.

The 2001 Ravens won a Superbowl with Trent Difler was their QB.

You just said everything I did earlier. What point are you trying to make?

15 Super Bowl champions in the last 20 years have had QBs with Hall of Fame ties. You cannot go to any other position and say the same thing.

QB is the most important position. Offensive line is not a position. You're wrong in just about every way imaginable right now.

He was still throwing td's and was still executing game winning drives...Don't criticize Ben...

You don't NEED an elite anything to win a championship. Even if you are arguing which is more important it is apples and oranges. There is only one QB, an offensive line consists of 5 guys. Each are measured on completely different metrics, QBs get so much more attention, offensive linemen are not media darlings that are used to sell the game and most importantly it's JIM McMahon.

Well everything that could've went wrong today did. Too many turnovers and stafford was flat out awful. They better take it to the Panthers next week because thats one of the few games left where they look like a decent favorite. Better have gotten all that shit play out this week and move on.
