NFL Week 10

The Falcons just got fucked by the refs. They seriously just won this game but they didn't call one of the most blatant pass interferences I've ever seen.

I coulda used a Roddy White TD... fucking refs, how about a little constancy when calling PI penalties

I don't know if I'd say much easier.

Throwing out the San Diego game as both of them played in it, both had one game that Denver flat out wasn't going to win (Green Bay/Detroit), both had a middle of the road team (Tennessee/Kansas City), both played Oakland, and then Orton played Cinci while Tebow played Miami. It's comparable until the last game I mentioend.

Green Bay is better then Detroit and they were more competitive in that game then they were against the Lions. Tennessee is easily better then the Chiefs. The Titans are 5-4 and have a win over the Ravens. The Chiefs are 4-5 and only have one win over a team with a winning record and that was the Kyle Boller led Raiders. The Raiders team that Tebow played was without their best player in Run DMC. Cinci obviously shits all over Miami. The schedules are no way near comparable.

And uh, who won that game?

Obviously the Broncos but it had nothing to do with Tebow being the starter.

I didn't realize there was a stat for competitive games.

When I typed that, they had the same record. It's changed a bit since then.

Still says Raiders on their jerseys I believe.

I think I said that wasn't a comparable pairing.

Actually they are but you couldn't admit Tebow did anything well if someone put a gun to your head so I'll be ignoring your opinion on him as I had been previously.

Orton loses to them, Tebow beats them. Sounds like an improvement when you have both QBs playing the same team. "But player A and player B weren't playing!" Still says Raiders on their jerseys and still counts as a win, which means more than every other stat combined.

I disagree with the analyst there. I'd have at least thought about running something other than straight up the middle. It's exactly what the Saints are ready for so why play straight at them?

I actually complimented Tebow's deep pass today. Unlike some people, however, I don't look at things as just black and white. You have to analyze the play of the teams, the players, and their opponents. Orton lost to the Raiders and Tebow beat them but they were two different teams at different times in the season. Different qbs, different running backs, etc. If every team was consistently the same throughout the season then there would be no reason to play 16 games, you could just start the playoffs after 4 games.

And after all that analysis, I've come to a conclusion:

Tebow: 3-1
Orton: 1-4

I'll rest my case here.

Tebow's an awful passer, that's not really debatable. I honestly can't remember the last time I've seen a QB throw the ball as terribly as he has. Maybe JaMarcus Russell. But he finds ways to win games, and for that reason alone he deserves to be where he is. A lot of Denver's recent success has been because of Tebow's ability to run the ball. If it was Orton in place of Tebow throughout these last 4 games, they wouldn't have had that run threat and I highly doubt they would have won any of them.

And I'll rest my case when the Broncos actually play teams that are worth a damn and Tebow looks like the career back up he is destined to be as an NFL qb.

You mean the one that everyone destined him to be before he won 3/4 games? I'd take that very happily for a quarter of the season.

I disagree with that. I actually think they would have won the same three, at the very least two of three. The Oakland game was really the only one where Tebow's rushing was a major factor. He only had 9 rushes for 43 yards today and against Miami Orton would have been able to put up enough points against that secondary. The Broncos defense was the biggest difference maker against Miami and KC and the play of the qb has no effect on that.

Last year, The Holy One and I got in a big argument because I said the Falcons were lucky to have defeated the Saints that day (and they were). Well, to show I'm not a hypocrite, the Saints were lucky to have won today. Really fucking lucky.

Gregg Williams and Mike Smith need to be the leads whenever Dumb and Dumber gets remade. They are the two biggest morons in football right now. Luckily for the Saints, though, Smith's stupidity cost the Falcons more than Williams' stupidty cost the Saints.

Also, Nate... there were some HORRIBLE calls made against the Saints (take that holding against Graham on the field goal, for example). And that was way worse of a call that that so-called pass interference, where Roddy clearly just let the ball go through his hands and the "contact" had nothing to do with it.

The last four games have done absolutely nothing to show me he is more then a career back up. Just like the wild cat in Miami, defenses are going to figure out the option and their rushing attack. Tebow sooner rather then later will have to win games with his arm and he is not capable of doing that on a consistent basis. He also hasn't shown he can beat a good team yet.

I'm confused. Are we discussing if Tebow is good, or if he's better than Orton?

One thing about Tebow cannot be denied... he's interesting to follow. Fans and haters alike keep a close eye on him. I don't think an NFL player has gotten that much attention from the media and fans perhaps ever.

But yeah... very happy to see Tebow pick up another win, as ugly as it was. Hopefully he can pull off some miracles in this tough schedule he has ahead of him.

Also, props to Reggie Bush. I'm very pleased to see he's coming around in Miami.

And when he stops winning/keeping them in games, you'll be right. Until then, you're speaking in theory rather than fact. The fact is, Tebow has won three times as many games as Orton this year and has 1/4 of the losses. That's probably not going to last, but for now he's done far better this season.

I'd say it's too early in his career to tell how good he is/can be, however, you cannot deny that, up to this point, he's been a winner.

That's my big thing with people that have declared him a career backup: he has 7 career starts. He hasn't even played half a season as a starter yet and his career is somehow set in stone. In those 7 starts, he's 4-3, which is a lot better than most quarterbacks. That's what we know. Now will that go down? Probably, but for less than half a season under his belt as a starter, I'd say he's done pretty well.

Up to this point yes, but again I want to see him do it against good competition. The only good team he has faced beat the Broncos 45-10. Let's see what happens after the next 5 weeks.

It's pretty damn hard to catch a ball when the defender has his hand under your damn helmet, pulling it in the opposite direction.
