I was reading around these forums, mostly pertaining to Wrestlemania 28. I went from Team CeNation to Team Bring It posts, to arguments about Daniel Bryan holding the MiTB until Wrestlemania. Now, this got me thinking about what Wrestlemania 28 could look like. Here is what I've thought up:
The Rock vs. John Cena
Probably the main event. A very anticipated match. A dream match for many wrestling fans. We all look at this match as a "passing of the torch," in the same way that we looked at Rock vs. Hogan. Now, we still don't know if the WWE Championship will be up for grabs, but I don't believe so. This match already has the star power alone, the championship doesn't add any value to it. Besides, if the title was on the line, we all know the Rock isn't going to win, because he probably isn't going to be staying after WM. Anyway, the main event is already set.
Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk
Recently on Twitter, Jericho "bashed" Punk. According to reports, this is just for a story, and there ins't any real heat between these two. Obviously, this match has Match of the Year candidate written all over it. Both are amazing on the mic, as well as in the ring. The promo's and the build-up to this match would be phenomenal. This is a legitimate WRESTLING match.
Daniel Bryan and the Money in the Bank
So, he stated that he is cashing it in at Wrestlemania 28. Let's see, what happened to the last guy who claimed he was going to cash it in a year later. Oh yeah, he lost his briefcase before he had the chance to cash it in. Many people fear the same with have to DB. Even if he cashes it in at WM, again, people fear he will not cash it in successfully. This clearly means that the fans do not have a lot of faith in DB becoming WHC... yet. What I see happening is, they are going to build him up in these 8 months, that way when 'Mania comes along, a lot of people feel differently about Bryan.
The Royal Rumble Winner
Since Bryan states he is going to cash it in at 28, the RR winner look's like Raw will be his option. BUT, it doesn't mean he HAS to choose Raw. If whoever it is chooses Smackdown, the WHC will be defended in a Triple Threat. RR Winner vs. WHC vs. Daniel Bryan. Now, if he chooses Raw, I see it that he will be facing the Miz. The Miz is the only main superstar on Raw is big enough to hold it. Unless they push someone MAJORLY in these 6 months and have that man go into WM with the WWE Title. I doubt Cena will hold it, so this is possible. Another unpredictable factor here.
The Streak
This looks like 'Taker's last WM. He is going to retire with a 20-0 record at WM. Now, the question is, who will face him? After 27, Triple H said that he is waiting for the Undertaker, and he will be ready if the Undertaker comes back. Now that Triple H is the COO, I don't think he is going to face him. We also have Mick Foley, who has been teasing a WWE return ever since he left TNA. Never happened at WM, so it's a possibility. But, we can also see a rising star face him. For me, there are 3 young talents that I see have a chance to face 'Taker. 1. Del Rio. One year into the company, and he has already won RR and MiTB. I guess the E has faith in him, so I wouldnt be suprised if he tried to break his streak. 2. Wade Barrett. On Bragging Rights '10, we saw Barrett lead the Nexus into helping Kane to bury the Undertaker. When the rumors of Undertaker returning at Vengeance, which will be a year and a day after BR, we can possibly see 'Taker get his vengeance on Barrett, leading up to their bout at WM. But again, if there is a pro, there is a con. I don't see how they can hold Barrett/Taker for 5 months. and 3. Sheamus. A lot of people wanted to see him face Taker this year, but I thought it was still too early. Now that Sheamus will be one year older in the company, and he is on Smackdown, I don't see why the Celtic Warrior wouldn't want to break the streak. Again, a lot of possibilities here.
Well, these are my thoughts on Wrestlemania. There is a lot of time between now and 'Mania, so only time can tell what will happen. Maybe I'll do another one of these when WM is closer, maybe around Royal Rumble, just to see how the E has progressed and if my theories were correct. Constructive criticism is appreciated, I'm kind of new to forums, and thoughts as well.
