**Merged** Raw Power To The People Discussion (KEEP IT ALL IN HERE!)

I'm not a big Ryder fan myself, but what's up with all the ryder hate. He works as hard if not harder than other WWE Stars. Ralphie 9198, it's got to be something wrong with your ears case more and more people chant for him each week. There have people with less talent and less charisma who have been pushed over the years, so why not give him a shot. It's not like he's gonna get a WWE title shot right off the bat.

I don't hate him, I am annoyed by a small group of people who are trying to push the idea that he is some mega star who is being held back. He will likely get his chance someday, but just because he makes a funny youtube vid that doesn't mean he should be on TV. This is going to backfire in their faces tomorrow night when WWE specifically puts him in a poll to humiliate him.

i dont know man. ryder is horrible, whether he is cheered or not (and somehow i think not). and somehow i figure if ryder does get onto raw he will most likely lose cause he isnt a talented wrestler. though the peoples choice raw should be good and if ryder does get a match then more power to him, but i doubt that would elevate him any higher in the wwe then he is now. he only does house shows, thats about it.

If the guy wasn't over he wouldn't be receiving chants on a PPV where he isn't even advertised.

Out of curiosity, when during the ppv was he receiving chants? I'd be interested to see this.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Ryder did get a push starting Monday. But then again, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. Maybe he'll feud with Ziggler over the IC title. I seriously doubt it though.

First though, he needs a real face turn. I'm getting annoyed at WWE's random face and heel turns lately without any explanation (Tamina, the Uso's, and Ted Dibiase's face turn and then back to heel two weeks later). What Zack Ryder did on Superstars should NOT count as a face turn. Mainly because hardly anyone watches Superstars. Then again, the casual viewer probably already assumes he is a face because he's always seen with John Cena.

This might actually be the perfect way for WWE to see just how over Zack can be. If they put him in a poll and he wins, then they should get the message that he needs to be given TV time. In fact, this may have been why they didn't use him last week (despite being in his hometown, so it's kinda dumb, but whatever). Maybe they want us, the fans, to prove that we really want to see him. I don't doubt that if presented as an option for a match, fans will vote him in. Or they could try and fuck him over and put him in a poll with Cena... but maybe he could win that too? Nah, probably not. Either way, they do need to give him the opportunity to prove his worth. The guy's talented; I just wish those in charge would notice.

It was during the Zeke/Barrett match I believe. At first I thought they were saying "We Want Swagger" which made no sense until I realized they were talking about Ryder.

Onto the topic at hand. This would be the best way to get Zack TV time. If the WWE puts him as an option in say an US title match against Ziggler (much like they did with the Raw roster for the IC title against Jericho). If Ryder truly has the support of this many people he could come close in winning the poll or actually winning it. We know him and Ziggler are boys, so it would add that extra spice to the situation. In the end though I'm not sure we will see Ryder in a match or even on the show. If he makes it on the program it will likely be a cameo like most of his appearances.

As a person in the live audience at the show, there were tons of Ryder chants, throughout the arena. There were also numerous signs for Ryder, including Ryder or Riot, Ryder for president, Broski of the week, and of course the Woo Woo Woo's.

They were most common in the Swagger match as well as the Barrett match.

Sidenote: "viewers choice" doesn't matter, the matches are already booked, it's just an example of the WWE giving an illusion of caring about what the fans want. (But of course everyone already knew that.)

Like him or not, there is some popularity to the guy.

Like him or not, his major/minor/insignifacant/overwhelming impact has been previously acknowledged by WWE. Through Ziggler mentioning him, or his 11 seconds with John Cena for a few weeks, to WWE allowing his created championship belt to be viewed while he closes his YouTube show on national tv.

I've seen a lot of Zack Ryder love on this site, but not once have I seen anyone shoot Ryder as far as WMainia/World/WWE Championship status. I only hear that from those who bash him as to what his fans are aspiring for.

I think Ryder can be entertaining at the mid-card level. If given a program where he can work consistently on tv, I feel he can shine. I think as a heel, his gimmick is overplayed and might not work for a mid-title. But as a face, it might be a fun segment of RAW where that rarely happens now.

I'm behind Zack Ryder for a few reasons: he makes me laugh, he hasn't had a bad in-ring performance to my knowledge, and he's something different that WWE hasn't given us. It might not be better, it might not be worse, but damn can we have something DIFFERENT?

I've seen many people complain that WWE is stale, and that they never do anything new. Hell "Nexus" worked last year not because Tarver, Otunga, Gabriel, Slater, Young, and a suspended Bryan were entertaining. Only Wade Barrett looked as if he belonged. They worked mainly because it was different.

And as far as the Santino Marella comparison...I don't think he is funny, his matches don't entertain me much, YET some people like him and so they use him. And he was also Intercontinental Champion being not funny or entertaining.

So if Zack Ryder to some is unfunny and his matches aren't entertaing. He is the opposite to others and they like him. So why not use him?

And even if he's telling his small unimportant fanbase to buy his T-Shirt, and they sell out...then he might have a marketability. If I was Zack I'd test this out buy asking his fans to buy someone who isn't over's T-Shirt (DiBiase, Corre, Goldust)...see what happens. If they sell out you can't deny his influence.

This whole thing reminds me of a poll I once saw on a wrestling board that voted Edge and Christian as the greatest tag team of all time. Anyone in their right mind knows that's not true, but because it was on the internet, and because apparently they were funny, they won. That seems to be the criteria for anyone who internet fans want to see pushed. They make me laugh. I am not taking away that Ryder has a humorous youtube show, or funny catch phrases, whatever. What I want to know is do you actually think this guy is worth anybody's time in the ring? I have not seen one thing that makes me say "Oh wow I have to see this guy wrestle!" He is average at best. There are lots of average guys, this guy just happens to have a funny youtube show. If Kozlov had beat him to it for example and made a funny youtube show first, I would suspect we would see a million push Kozlov threads. That's just my suspicion. I have watched wrestling for 27 years or so. I know jobbers when I see them. Ryder is a jobber. He will not be on Raw tomorrow, you may never see him off of Superstars. If he gets on Raw tomorrow, WWE will prove a point.

LOL.. Now that would be a funny show, I can barely understand Kozlov when he talks.. so imagine if he did have a show like Ryder.. but anyway, Ryder's show is not funny.. I've seen a few of the episodes because everyone on the "internets" is raving about it.. Ryder's Jersey Shore gimmick is annoying.. his catch phrases are irritating.. woo woo woo, you know it? yeah, that's a good one.. even his theme song is ******ed.. if they were to ever make the tag division somewhat good again, i'd say just change Ryder's gimmick and tag him back with Hawkins..

Just like I couldn't figure out what everyone loved about The Miz during his MITB thing (i still don't know why ppl like him), I just can't figure out why everyone loves Ryder.. I'd rather see Chris Masters get pushed as the next Lex Luger

I am a huge Zack Ryder fan! I watch all his videos on youtube, own his t-shirt, brought a Ryder sign to RAW this past monday, like him on facebook, follow on twitter all that fun stuff. I consider him one of my favorite wrestlers right now but sadly I think WWE won't use him tomorrow or the next week or the next. Which upsets me because a lot of people really want to see Zack Ryder on television, even wrestlers like Jericho, Ziggler, Barret, Cena. This guy has a lot of charisma and like Josh Isenberg said, he had the courage to build himself up at the WWE level when nobody else could. I dont understand why WWE won't push this guy, he has the tools to be a great mid card worker

What I also dont understand is why people really dislike him. I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion i respect that, but you have to respect what the kid is doing. Not only did he start his YT show to get his character over, but he also did it to entertain us, because he knows that barely anyone watches superstars and this was the only other way for him to do his job, and thats to entertain, which is what WWE wants to focus on nowadays right? To say his show is lame is fine, but to say that there is nothing funny about it? Thats a little too much. And to those who say that, you're telling me nothing in those 18 episodes have made you laugh? I highly doubt you've barely even watched an episode. If his show was so bad, there wouldnt be Zack Ryder signs, we want Ryder chants and a decent pop when he comes out (as a heel). He's entertained Jericho (yes, the man in my avatar) for christ sakes, a true king of entertainment. How do you argue against that? This guy definitely sells, he's creative and its a shame he isnt able to show what he has to the RAW viewers. Not a lot of people watch Superstars, so those people that think he's shit in the ring probably haven't seen a match of his since he was in the fatal four way match for the US title. That was last year fellas, he's only improved and since hes at a young age, he has time to improve even more.

Oh and btw Trashboy, when was the last time you watched a Zack Ryder match on superstars?

I think there's a pretty good chance, that he may appear on Raw tomorrow. It makes sense to me to have him as a choice in a match voted by fans. If he's chosen and he gets a good reaction from the crowd. The WWE will probably give him a push. I think they are slowly testing the waters by having him appear on Raw.

Even if it's in a short backstage segment or short match. It shows the casual fan and fans that aren't in the IWC that he's around. The internet fans are a very small amount of WWE's fan base. The casual fans aren't aware of his videos or his online popularity. There's definitely some people cheering for him or chanting his name. However most of the fans aren't behind him yet.

The WWE will have no choice but to push him. If his fan base keeps cheering for him and his popularity grows. Tomorrows Raw could very well be the beginning of his push.

90% of the Raw Audience: Who's Zack Ryder? The other 10% won't make up for it. I'd love to see him used a little more, but I don't think he has the popularity or charisma in the long run that the IWC gives him credit for. I would love to eat my words, because I personally find him entertaining, but I don't see him getting over to mainstream audiences like everyone else does. I agree that he should be basically where Santino has been, Ryder has nowhere near world champion in his future, but midcard + backstage hero? sure.

I highly doubt we're going to see Ryder tonight on Raw. It's totally possible, but it's going to be in one of a couple of options.

1) - Ryder accompanies Dolph Ziggler to the Ring, along with Vickie Guererro and the two of them do some Commentary on the Match, or stand at Ringside, where Ryder helps Ziggler to win it.

2) - Ryder has a Match (Shocker!) against a very low carder, what with having 3 Hours to do so. Maybe Primo, or someone along those lines.

3) - Ryder, as said before, is in some kind of Dance Contest or stupid competition on Raw, which has been voted in by the Universe.

4) - He's shown backstage for 10 seconds, saying "Congratulations" to John Cena and that's that.

After surfing through all the posts here, some completley unintelligent. You can see there is a backing for Ryder, and some who just because some of us like him want to troll.

Sorry if you get offended Ryder haters, but honestly you are trolling.

Anyways, I've said before that Ryder is probably being slowly tested by the WWE, and maybe they wanted to see what actual reaction he got if he werent used. If his t-shirt sells out, put another item of stock there. Say his headband for example, if that sells out, he clearly has marketibility. Getting back on topic, to get Ryder in a peoples choice segment is the perfect way to see if people actually want to see him. And to those saying he is totally useless in the ring, you are wrong, he has improved a lot over the last year, and I really enjoyed his match with Kofi, now Im not saying make him WHC, but keep him at the mid card level as most are saying.

And to the people confused or dont know who the WWE has forced down our throats that are totally annoying and crap. Khali is one yes he is big and huge and VKM gets a hardon at big guys. Hornswoggle is another, the divas I mean I fast forward every segment, its no longer decent, Its not the same since, trish, lita and victoria left. Oh and the Michael Cole segments, ok I get it We hate him, but having his big mouth week in week out..I just skipped it.

Those are just a few examples, now I dont know what the crowd chants are like live, but if more and more signs are showing up then surely he does have a good fanbase. All I'm saying is give the guy a chance...hell they did with Cena and look where he is

i watches Ryder vs Primo On Superstars Last Week And Their Match Was A Classic Could Of Gone Either Way They Had A Decent 10-15 match.. I think personally Ryder's Done Enough and Deserves His Place On Raw... Can't Believe Mcintyres Stuck On Superstars Tho..

Alright Im a Ryder mark as most people on this forum know but theres one thing I really want to say. Chris Jericho knows more about the wrestling business than 90 percent of the people in the industry which means he knows more than us fans. If Chris Jericho is backing Ryder its obvious that Ryder has potential. Also the Miz has came up VERY SLOWLY in his career so how do we know the same thing isnt possible for Ryder people said the Miz was a goof and waste of screen time earlier too, I personally think Ryder will be a regular on TV by August.

Couple things......

1. Last night at the PPV there were 2 matches where the crowd chanted WE WANT RYDER loud and clear(not 5 fat guys in the front row). This was in DC, so the haters cannot use the hometown pop arguement.
2. On a normal after ppv night i would say he won't get used......but with tonight being a viewers choice ...........he could sneak in somehow if WWE wants to, but i still think its superstars duty again.
3. There has been at least 1 episode where Ryder asked the fans to buy DZ's shirt......not sure how it turned out, but it has happened.

This is how it will work, Or, When he actually DOES get the push that they feel he ''Deserves'', they'll turn their backs on him, and call him over rated. They did it to Kofi, The Miz, and even Cena.

I NEVER take what people call ''Deserving'' or ''Under rated'' by internet wrestling fans as gospel, they latch onto things or people that are different, just so they don't have to obligated to like Cenas uber push, and then when the person gets some shine, they move onto the next one.

I heard people call Miz/Morrison BOTH the next shawn micheals, yet, when they got pushed, they all crapped on them. The IWC is an acronym for hypocrite.

I think with being a Viewer's Choice Raw (althogh voting is done by phone) I could see him making television today in some way, shape or form. Ideally, for him, I would love to see him in a "Viewers chose partner," Tag match. I would love to see him and Cena vs Truth and (insert name) here. However, logically I think we could see him in a comedy segment which I truly believe will be a "Fist Pump Off." I don't see him getting a match becuse frankly he just isn't at the same level as some others of the WWE.

Here's the thing....

Lately when I go to a WWE event it feels like everyone is sitting on their hands. It's almost like the younger crowd doesn't realize you can be loud and have fun at a wrestling event...

I think the "10%" of fans that like Ryder can INFLUENCE the other 90% into liking him as well. How many little kids will chant "Let's go Ryder" just because everyone else is? Or because he's "friends with Cena" in the backstage segments. I think this could give him the nudge into mainstream wrestling fans slowly learning who he is and him actually getting over.

I guess this is WWE's new take on Cyber Sunday, and I think the idea works a lot better as a three hour raw special then as a PPV. So what are some matches you'd like to see. Personally i'd like to see the following.

*Orton Vs. Christian Rematch for WHC- I'd like to see christian regain the title through some kind of cheap heel finish like a killswitch on the belt, because we know wwe won't give christian a clean win over RKO. This way they can keep smackdown interesting over the next month as the top face chases after the top heel till he "triumphantly" gets the belt back at the next ppv. They've done it a million times with cena so i could see this happening.

*Tag title gauntlet- I always have found these entertaining and it would give them a chance to highlight the tag teams they have brewing. Plus Otunga and Junior Perfect are both individualy good but don't make sense together not to mention the nexus thing flat lined months ago. Otunga would work better as an enforcer to the heel R-truth then in some random tag team. Maybe continue the legacy reunion and have them capture the belts tonight.

*Mysterio Vs. Sin Carra- Not only would it be an amazing treat for the fans but it could lay the ground work for a fued down the road and possibly a wrestlemania match next year.

*Ziggler Vs. Riley Us title match- it would most likely end in The Miz laying out Riley to give dolph the win. But it would work on a few different levels. It continues the Miz/Riley feud because i doubt that ends till Miz gets the final victory, it would give Ziggler a succesful title defence to start off his reign and it would continue the Riley push by putting him in a title match.

what about you guys any thoughts?

I'd love a six pack challenge to determine the number 1 contender (with Punk winning) or maybe one for the US championship. A fatal four-way for the tag titles and i suppose there will be a few matches to determine the participants for the Money in the Bank match. That's about it, I'm not really expecting much.

I would like to see cm punk getting a title shot..i like the idea of the 6pack challenge ...maybe a championship scramble with cena wining obv. something like that..id also LOVe to see christian wining the title back from orton that would be great with a cheap finish credit to 'paging mr ass' on that one lol..love to see ryder in a match maybe a tag team match with hawkins or a decent singles match they will let usvote on some stips too so id like to see a ladder match cuz thats one of my fav types of matches

What do I want to see??? Quite a bit, actually. Things that probably won't happen. First off...the ROH fanboy in me is dying to have Danielson v. Punk. If I can't get that match, I want Regal v. Danielson. Lastly, I want Sin Cara v. Mysterio. Maybe then, it wouldn't be a botch fest. There is a 4-way match I would like to see. Barrett v. McIntyre v. Sheamus v. Mason Ryan. All 4 UK countries would be represented. Or take out Barrett and put in Regal.
