How about 10,000 more yards, 120 more Touchdowns, 800 more completions, a better completion percentage, a lower INT%, a higher QB rating, and sacked half as often (Elway-516, Marino-270), which kind of makes your "more mobile" stat insignificant.

Only if he doesn't take it upon himself and revert back to his gunslinger mode, then you are right. But if he throws 40-50 passes a game, completing like 25-30, and throwing 2 picks a game, I would say he is doing the opposite. So if Favre stays with throwing when necessary, and giving the ball to Peterson, then I would say contenders.

I'll concede the stats argument. However, Marino never won titles. Who cares if they're at the end of his career? He got to Super Bowls with zero talent around him before that. Marino I think (very well could be wrong) got to one with zero talent. Elway got to three with no one to help him then won two of them. Marino can have all the stats he wants. He has zero rings, and that's why you play the game. Marino wins stats, but the titles put Elway over.

But he throws into double coverage, doesn't make the best decisions with the ball. I can criticize him for that, which would be him reverting to gunslinger mode, trying to fit the ball into pockets that are too small for him to throw into.

What an incredibly stupid argument. Dan Marino doesn't get to pick the team he plays with, he just has to make do with what he has. Just because Denver had a very good defense and arguably the best running back in the league and a great running system, suddenly Elway is now a better QB?

I said the titles put Elway over. If Elway was like 10th in yards and TDs etc., then yeah I'd go with Marino also. Elway's stats are way up there (not in Marino's category but good enough), he was successful, he was clutch, and he has rings. Marino has stats. Ring(s) over stats. And to address what you said, of course not. Dilfer was good, but the defense won that title. As for the Redskins QB, Gibbs proved that he could win with just about anyone in that era. Also, based on what I said and not what you made it look like, Kelly did have success: 4 Super Bowl appearences. That's success.
