WWE Raw LD 8/01/11 - The Champs are Here!

Can't miss promo? Yeah right.

I could have missed that. Wouldn't have changed much.

Only valuable line uttered was the one where Punk talked about HHH talking about how guys "don't have what it takes" when he was laying in bed with his wife. Otherwise, status quo.

That mic was a pipe bomb when he threw guys like John Laurenitis under the bus, but that promo was totally average.

Happy to hear some Living Colour though!

Meh. Back to not watching WWE.

Back to the quality programming of TNA huh?

I love how they don't have to be thrown over the top just because they are divas. Real women can throw another one over the top. Hell, Beth just threw two of them.

Why are all diva face to heel turns the same? Heel wins, face goes to congratulate, heel attacks. Well, at least it wasn't pointless.

Slew of red rep coming your way. How dare you question the greatness of CM Punk?

I don't. I question the "can't miss"-ness of that promo. Punk is the only thing that makes me want to even check in on the goings-on of WWE. That promo was easily the weakest of all the ones I've heard since he's gone on this run.

Red rep as I may get, that's still how I feel, regardless of whether anyone else agrees.

TNA got in the same trouble for their "biggest surprise of the year" shit. Same shit, different toilet.

Eh, I don't care, I'm still going to treat Beth Phoenix as a face. I just don't give enough of a shit about Kelly Kelly to suspend my, er, belief.

doesn't that pretty much always happen to the face diva champion going to celebrate with the new #1 contender face only for the #1 contender to turn.

is it me or did beth phoenix instigate prison rulez, she picked the biggest dog in the division and made her her bitch, brillz

True but that's also implying that he's only there because he's married to Stephanie. He's a big shot in WWE and look what's happened since he's been in charge: Punk has risen to power. I'm not sure if that's HHH doing it, but at the same time it happened on his watch, not anyone else's.

I don't mean to insinuate that he didn't achieve anything on his own merits (insofar as anyone in wrestling achieves anything on their own merits, I mean, everyone has to play the game at some time or another). I think we can agree that his mastery of politics got him very far after his talent got the ball rolling for him. And I can concur that what's happening under his watch creatively is very good from where I stand.
