WWE RAW LD 7/25/2011 - The King is Dead, Long Live the King

Mysterio is similar to X-Pac in my eyes. Fun to watch against small/normal sized guys, but when he does the giant killer thing it drives me completely insane.

This was the only thing I didn't much care for. Having Rey do a hurricarana to Cena just seemed kind of silly. John Cena is 6'2", 250 pounds and built like a tank. Rey is 5'5" 160 pounds and chubby. Watching Cena have to do a flip for a Rey hurricarana just looked kind of silly.

The rest of the match was good.

Sly, go ahead and bust out one your favorite lines for me, and one ofmy favorites you have always said....

Who is wrestling mostely catered to?

That's what I mean: when he's fighting someone like Kane, he does that to them. Kane can take a shoulder from Big Show and go back a step but when Rey, a guy the size of one of Show's legs, tries a rana Kane goes flying around the ring. makes no sense.

The rest of the match was quite good.

Finishing up watching the show right now. I marked like a little fucking bitch the second that Cult of Personality played. That is so fucking awesome that they used that. Oh god man, SO AWESOME. That moment when Punk just lifted his title up....god that was magic.

Holy FUCK what an ending. So awesome that he used that music. I can't wait to see what other cues they're going to take from the ROH Summer of Punk angle now.

Main event was really good too, another ***1/4 ish match.

In storyline terms, why would Punk come back if he didn't have a contract? The WWE already has their new champion, they don't need him, so why put him on their show (again, in storyline terms) if they didn't have him under contract?

In storyline terms, he has to be under contract, otherwise things don't make sense.

A loser leaves WWE title vs title match would sum things up fairly nicely. Punk came back to say he's the real champion, Cena challenges to a match where both titles are on the line and the loser leaves.

God, did the WWE really just hotshot the Punk angle. I really have doubts about this now. I'll see how it plays out, but man oh man I think they gave up on it already.

I think you're getting ahead of yourself there. We don't know what surrounds this Punk return. He could have been smuggled in the back door by Vince before he left for all we know. Let it play out first. And besides, Punk is supposedly one of the people booking this feud.

Why do I always manage to miss watching the best Raws live? It's becoming a thing with me. It's fucking ludicrous. I need two burly men, a crowbar and a chisel. You're to cripple me. I will never leave my sofa, my skin will slowly bond with the fabric and I will never miss another good Raw again.

That ending was just magical. I was pretty sore that Cena won. Remember, I'm Team Mysterio and if there was a pretender to Punk's throne I'd rather it be him. Little did I know that the real deal was going to show up - and with some ridiculously awesome new theme music to boot. My hands were on my head in shock, and the WWE continues in its quest to make me an eight-year-old mark again. When Punk raised up his belt and - I've watched this three times now - outpopped Cena, I nearly lost my god damn mind. Would watch again. I am, in fact.

Remember to leave that replica with the gift shop girl, John.

So did nobody who was in this LD last night ever watch ROH during the Summer of Punk I? As soon as I heard Cult I knew what was happening and marked like a little girl.

As soon as Punk declares that he is officially back to defend his title Cena should trash his title or give it to a little fan and declare he wants the real deal. It fits his honorable character.

Why would HHH book two title matches if he had already resigned his champion? Because he likes controversy? Are we supposed to believe that CM Punk showed up on his own without some type of contract? Did he sign a contract during the main event? I don't know, this doesn't make sense to me. I hope it is explained well next week. Again, great show.

Haha

Wrestling caters to children and idiots.

Cena has already been in one of those matches though, in the PPV previous to Summerslam. He lost and is still there. There would be no drama to that. That's not really an angle you want to shoot two months in a row.

Sly, either your ears suck...or you are full of shit.
Watch the video. Nearly everyone in the place cheers for Cena when he raises the title, and then when Punk raises the title, you barely see anyone move. And the only voices you hear are male.

You don't even have to listen to it, just watch the Youtube video I posted. It's quite clear. It's amazing how blind Punk supporters are to the truth.

Rey Mysterio is the fucking bomb and anyone who says otherwise is a tasteless douchebag. Yeah, I said it.

The unification gimmick puts a new spin on things though. And it may not be a "loser leaves WWE" match. Punk said after the return that he was back, and he may have just signed a new deal.

As Lance Storm says, perception is reality.

So you're acting surprised that an angle clearly meant to cater towards adult males is getting a reaction from adult males?

From the video on wwe.com:

The cameras never did shoot each person from the same vantage point, but it seems pretty clear to me Cena has more interest than Punk.

Especially if you start to get down and differentiate between how many people support Punk and how many people support anyone but Cena.
