I'd like to respectfully dispute an infraction I recently received.
I used a term that could be construed as being "prejudiced or hurtful" to a certain demographic of people, but I did not do so in a hurtful or mean-spirited way. If you'd like me to explain further, I can do so, I just didn't want to use it again in case of another infraction.
The context in which I posted it is my defense. It was in the LD thread, as I watching the NFL Draft. The crowd broke out into a chant, using the term. I simply stated it in my post, surprised by the crowd a bit. I didn't (and probably should have) used quotation marks around the term, as I was quoting the crowd. I'm guessing the Mod who infracted me didn't see the context of the situation and just thought I was using the term out of the blue. If I was, then I'd have no qualms with the infraction. However, it wasn't out of the blue and was not mean-spirited or meant to be prejudiced in any way. I always try to be careful about not crossing the line in terms of what could be considered prejudiced remarks and I don't believe I've ever gotten a warning/infraction for one ever in the past.
I hope I adequately explained the situation, and I'm hoping my infraction can be reconsidered. Thanks.
