The {Original} Wrestlezone Tournament

OverniteCelebrityLM i was looking on the tournament bracket page and you put it that hall beat jeff i was just pointing that out for you and good job on the bracket

Hi. Sorry i've been gone for a couple of days, but i'm diving right back in with this: Prax is almost as smart as Shockmaster himself. How, in the blue hell, how on earth, just plain HOW DID CAGE BEAT MURACO??? Sure, Cage is good, and i've voted for him in evey round except round 3, but come on. The Magnificent One had to win. Nowrich City beat The Boys in Royal Blue for the 2nd time in one season, and Christian Cage beats Don Muraco? The End Times are approaching...

BTW, the Wikipedia brackets look great, but it's true Overnite, you did put that Scott Hall beat Jeff Hardy.

Oh, and also: what a shame. Ron Simmons, the world's greatest random gimmick as of late, goes out this early. DAMN! Raw's one with Ashley holding up her Playboy was great, one of the 3 best, along with the first one and the one at the rumble.

What about Matt Hardy coming back and interfering with the Raven vs Jeff hardy match? Wouldn't this be a legit possibility?

I only have one disagreement with everyone...Jeff Hardy is taking down Raven...Sure Raven has the match advantage, but Jeff's arial stuff has not been snuffed out as has been stated before, I'm sure there will be a ladder...Secondly, Matt was taken out the of the tournament, and rightfully so by Steamboat, but he's going to be there in Jeff's corner and that's going to make all the difference: Jeff Hardy just barley...

hello, they're in a Clockwork Orange House Of Fun? Contained inside a cage, so Matt (unfortunatly) can't get in there! However, with that said, i still voted for Jeff. Jeff can go just as well as Raven can. They had a stellar Tables-in-a-cage match at Lockdown 05 and I'm sure they'd put up such a good performance again here. But Jeff knows how to handle weapons, and could do some seriously high-flying stuff off the cage. Plus, ok they're in a cage, but the ropes are still there. He can still leg drop, still whisper in the wind and still swanton. Would be an amazing match in r/l, and i think that Jeff would come out winner.

And now for my :twocents:. People aren't voting on the stipulations? What's the point in having them if you don't vote on them. Shockmaster put the stips in as a part of this masterpiece of a tourney, respect and acknowledge them. Thank you, and now here's Jill with the weather...

Hopefully it will be raining copies of April's issue of Playboy and expect hailstorms of Rock fans, rumours, spoilers and posibly some nutjobs claiming he will win every title ever invented at Wrestlemania 23, but with sunny clouds of Triple H eventually returning to face Ric Flair, HBK and the Undertaker in a free-entry-into-a-retirement-home-on-a-walking-stick match somewhere on the horizon

Yes Matt Hardy can interfere, if he can get into the cage. If you're not familiar with ECW Raven, he always had a group of men, or his Flock, protetcing him at ringside. The flock was mostly made up of jobbers though, so never a serious group, but they would protect him. If Matt can make the ring, sure he can interfere.

Like I said before, any match is designed to favor the higher seed, but it's not a lock by any stretch of the imagination. I'm personally not a Hardy fan, but i won't be shocked if he takes down Raven, it's wrestling, anything can happen.

Okay, first things first, this needs to be said.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ALL OF YOU?!

Dude, how in god's name can anybody be picking Cena over Owen fucking Hart. Owen was just as good if not better (IMO he is) than Bret was, and how you're going to go with Mr. 5 Move Cena? I don't mean to be insulting anyone's opinion and all, but you people are ******ed. Owen will literally eat Cena alive. If Cena wins this match you all hate wrestling and hope that top rope bans come back to the WWE.

Anyways, now that thats out of me, here are my picks.

ECW Region - ECW Arena, Philly
Triple Threat Elimination Street Fight
Harley Race vs. Dusty Rhodes vs. The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith - This is a classic match here. A straight up dream match. Don't expect anything short as this one goes into the thiry minute mark with still not a man eliminated. Finally, Rhodes & Race will team up to eliminate Bulldog, and then SURPRISE Dustin Rhodes will run out and help his pops get the win over the King Harley Race. Shocker.
Winner: Dusty Rhodes

Clockwork Orange House of Fun Match
Raven vs. Jeff Hardy - I believe people are counting Hardy out in this one far too early. Raven, although having some of the best promos of all time in ECW, I was never too impressed with his in ring work. However I'm a big fan of Jeff Hardy, the guys got boatloads of talent and if given some serious technical training, could be the next big guy. Hardy takes this one, resulting in a tweny minute riot by the ECW fans.
Winner: Jeff Hardy

Last Man Standing Match
John Cena vs. Owen Hart - Cena doesn't stand a god damn chance in this match, he's in the freakin ECW ARENA! Jesus he'll be lucky to get five minutes into the match before a crowd of ECW fans jump in the ring and start kicking his ass. Owen sends em back and locks on the Sharpshooter so hard he breaks Cena's legs.
Winner: Owen Hart

Handcuff Match
Dustin Rhodes vs. Kane - Kane has overcome the handcuff thing tons of times before, and I see Dusty being too tired after his brawl to be able to come out and return the favor for his sun. Kane chokeslams Rhodes through a flaming table for the win.
Winner: Kane

Dog Collar Match
Shane Douglas vs. Christopher Daniels - Again, I think people are counting Daniels out. Shane was great back in the day, but I still don't think he ever had the ammount of talent that I see in Daniels. I think in another riot causing match, Daniels gets the upset and the win.
Winner: Christopher Daniels

Submission Match
Taz vs. Rhino - This is going to be another long battle here. Lots of hardcore action with this fantastic match being enough to satisfy the fans after the upsets earlier. After a long match however, Taz will be able to wrap himself around Rhino with the Tazmission and make him pass out.
Winner: Taz

Ladder Match
Shawn Michaels vs. Ron Simmons - People again dissin' Simmons here, this match will be alot closer than you think. If all you know of Simmons is his Farooq days, than go check out his NWA/WCW days, guy was a god damn monster. However, Michaels will take this one rather easily in the match he pretty much invented.
Winner: Shawn Michaels

Tables Match
Kevin Nash vs. Lance Storm - Another fantastic match, Storm will put on a hellacious battle to Nash. However, after a good fifteen minutes or so I see Nash just getting the upperhand and gettin' the jacknife powerbomb through a table or two.
Winner: Kevin Nash

So we've got
Dusty Rhodes vs. Jeff Hardy (Oddest match, ever)
Owen Hart vs. Kane (Classic Attitude era match)
Christopher Daniels vs. Taz (Dream match)
Shawn Michaels vs. Kevin Nash (Weren't we all just waiting for this one? Helluva match)

haha i know xfear. I said i proably have a spot reserved in hell for picking john cena to beat owen. I dispise John Cena with every ounce of wrestling fan that i have, but for some reason I can not see Owen winning that match. I want to, and if it was straight wrestling, Owen kills him. I know it's going to be a riot and everything if Cena wins, but in my minds eye I can't see it happening as much as I want to.

Whoever wins the triple threat match will be the one with more then 33% of the vote. I missed some other questions, grrr.

Okay random thing for gimmick matches. Agree or disagree with these
1. Steel Cage
2. Ladder Match
3. Clockwork Orange
4. First Blood
5. Something on a pole, (pinata, pinata, pinata)
6. Biker Chain
7. Ambulance/Last Ride match
8. No Holds Barred
9. 2 out of 3 Falls
10. I Quit Match
11. 30 Minute Iron Man Match
12. Ultimate Submission Match
13. 3 Stages of Hell
14. Casket/Stretcher Match
15. Blindfold Match
16. Inferno Match
17. Tables Match
18. Sadistic Madness
19. Regular Wrestling match.

Remember 16 matches in round 4, but 3 of these matches will be placed inside the unlucky bastards that draw 3 stages of Hell.

Do these look okay? Which ones are locks and which ones need to be tossed out.

Looks good Shockmaster. I'm satisfied with those brackets.

And just to further this Cena discussion, truth be told, we all know how Cena matches operate. He's constantly the underdog. If anyone has a chance at winning in the ECW arena it's Cena!

People hate him and he's cool with that, that's why i kinda like him. It doesn't bother him (most of the time) that he gets these kind of reactions. He's the type to overcome the odds.

And for the record The Rock had 4 moves, so that's 1 less than Cena.

I am begging everyone in here not to vote for John Cena to beat Owen hart. I know this is everyone's opinion but xfear was right on the many with his evaluation of Raw's champion.

Fair point XFear. However, The Rock was a huge fan favourite, whereas Cena has haters. Proud to be a member... I mean, did you watch Raw? If so, just listen to the pop when you hear Finally... the paper come down and FINALLY (with every damned person in the crowd joining in) THE ROCK HAS COME BACK TO MONDAY NIGHT RAW!!! I would love to see Rock come back in a wrestling capacity, even though it probably won't happen.

That said, i hope they welcome me in hell if Cena wins by one vote...

IF YA SMELLLLLAAAOOWW, WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING!

And now here's Bob with the sports...

Well, on the road to wrestlemania it's Smackdown 4, Raw 3, ECW 1, which begs the question: how come superstars from the worst brand of WWE make up half the MITB ladder match? Stay tuned to WM23 to find out. And, when polled, 98% of the IWC said The Rock would never appear on WWE television again. Looks like me and the rest of the 2% just got this victory. This is Bob on the sports signing out...

First and foremost i do not want to make this a John Cena thread but in regards to his match it is a freaking last man standing match...NOT a technical wrestling love fest its a flat out anything goes street fight basically till you cant get up and Cena has all the ability in this type of match to win regardless of who he is against and i mean anybody in this entire tournament.
Thats why i am picking JOHN CENA.

Oh boy, this ship is starting to sink and sink fast, lol. The Cena war is on.

Results from Madison Square Garden.
Match 1: Hulk Hogan vs. Sabu.
Even with rules restrictions against him, the Death Defying Sabu puts up a valiant effort. Nethertheless, the odds are just too stacked against Sabu as Hogan lands the Leg Drop and advances. Hey, if HBK has to do the J.O.B., then anyone can. Hogan goes on with 74% of the vote.

Match 2: Carlito vs. AJ Styles
This one kinda shocked me on the outcome of it. I expected a more even match, but AJ Styles just dominates Carlito and climbs the ladder to the next round. Memo to Carlito, maybe ya outta want to bust your ass in the ring with all that talent you have. AJ goes on with an impressive 86%.

Match 3: Sting v. Rey Misterio Jr.
Sting jumps out to a huge advantage early, but Misterios suprisingly does not give in and fights his way back. In the end, the Scorpion Deathlock is just too much for Rey Rey to handle as he is forced to tap out. Sting with 81%.

Match 4: Terry Funk v. Samoa Joe.
A brutal match, nothing else could be said about it. Joe and Funk beat the holy hell out of each other and both men bust each other wide open. Joe takes an advantage and grabs the Branding Iron, but a moments hesitation cost him a lowblow. Funk takes the Iron and slams it into joes exposed back and makes it to the next round. Funk advanced with 69% of the vote.

Match 5: Helms vs. Hart.
Helms jumps off the top rope, only to get his legs caught by the Hitman. Like that, this match is over, and a very fresh Bret Hart is going to face the winner of the next match...Hart with 100%.

Match 6: Kurt Angle vs. Dean Malenko
Technical Masterpiece. This match goes on forever it seems like with both men refusing to say the words "I Quit." Finally, Kurt Angle locks the anklelock onto Dean Malenko and there is simply no way to escape. Malenko utters those two words and Angle advances to face Bret Hart with 67%.

Match 7: Foley v. Undertaker.
One huge name has to go home this round. Given the match stipulation, it favored the Undertaker. After a long grueling match, the Deadman finally buries his long time nemesis and heads to the field of 32. Undertaker with 67%.

Match 8: Bam Bam Bigelow v. Ted DiBiase.
The barbed wire cage is lowered. DiBiase and Bigelow begin with a stare off, but all of a sudden the Million Dollar man turns away and has a huge smile on his face. DiBiase turns back around for the most dreaded move in wrestling history. Yes it's the fingerpoke of doom, as Bigelow has taken a buy out. This time however, Bigelow grabs the arm of DiBiase and smashes him into the cage. Bigelow ends the match with the biggest moonsault crashing threw the ring and Bigelow crawls under the ring to be the winner with 55% of the vote.

So here are the matches for round 4: All matches depend on random gimmick types.
Hulk Hogan vs. AJ Styles (Forget Andre/Raven, Forget JBL/Samoa Joe, forget Cena/Hart, this one match right here is going to cause a riot in this forum)
Sting vs. Terry Funk (Wowsa. An NWA physique Funk with his ECW mentality, against the Stinger, holy poop)
Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle (Maybe one of the 3 most dreamed match in the history of the business, crosses fingers for Ultimate Submission)
Undertaker vs. Bam Bam Bigelow (Two men that innovated the position of the big man in this business).

And let the wars begin.
and yes Colamania, the sports broadcaster is suprisingly right. The most boring of the WWE is featured in its biggest spotfest match. actually not boring, but wrestlers that should be in one on one matches. That drives me nuts with guys like booker, Edge, Orton, and Finlay. Guys simply there to play catch as Kennedy crawls up the ladder, booo. who booked this crap?

Probably saturday or sunday night. I'm a college basketball tournament time couch potato. Like i said earlier, i'm going to be useless for the next 4 days. Plus i gotta milk this thing out until the night before Mania, I guess I started earlier then I needed to.

So this is how I see it playing out. Round 4 starts up this sunday till tuesday, then round 5 will be tuesday to thursday of next week. And then next weekend we end this bad boy. Round 6 sunday to tuesday, round 7 tuesday to thursday, and the Finals from thursday to saturday.

I am begging everyone in here not to vote for John Cena to beat Owen hart. I know this is everyone's opinion but xfear was right on the many with his evaluation of Raw's champion.

Nope, sorry. People are letting their blind hatred for Cena get in the way of what actually makes sense in this scenario.

The Rock had A LOT of haters early on in his career, just like Cena.

And the Rock won't come back to wrestle, I doubt he's in wrestling shape.

Ok, I need help, I'm thinking about it, and I don't like the idea of Inferno Match, so I need a new one in there. I think it's just way too gimmicky, and won't work unless Kane is in it somehow. If you want I can do the Generator for the round 4 matchups tonight, and let everyone know, or just keep it a suprise.

So Inferno match is out, i need something else.

Awww... I think you should keep inferno match :D

To be fair there are a lot of matches that are way to gimmicky, and I don't think the Inferno matches is the most gimmicky.

Instead of Inferno do First Blood. I think its a great replacement.
