Road to Wrestlemania 28 - KEEP ALL WM28 GENERAL DISCUSSION IN HERE!!

I'm just amped up for the main event (Cena/Rock). It's undoubtedly going to be one of the most historic matches of the century. It'll be one entertaining feud, no doubt.

Other matches I think will be on the card:
Miz vs. Stone Cold - they hinted at a feud a handful of times. That's my justification.
HHH vs. Taker II - HHH said that he's not done with Taker the following raw after Mania (or something it that extent).

That's all I predict. It doesn't matter anyway. Everyone and their mom will be purchasing this solely based on the main event.

Does anyone else see the recent angle with CM Punk and the money in the bank eventually leading to a Heel Miz (c) vs a returning face CM Punk at next years Wrestlemania.

In a nut shell. The Miz wins money in the bank again early on at this years money in the bank. Later that night in some kind of screw job Cena beats CM Punk with the help of Vince McMahon. Cena flips out at McMahon but remains in the company as champion. Meanwhile Punk rides off into the sunset.

The Miz down the line, possibly at survivor series with the involvement of the Rock, comes out and cashes his money in the bank on Cena at the end of the night. At the next months rematch The Miz retains again with the help of the Rock, building a fire to the rock vs cena fued.

The Miz faces someone like rey mysterio or Alex Riley and gets a good clean win. Cena vows to win the royal rumble and use it to get the title beforehand and go on to Wrestlemania to face The Rock as champion. However, a returning CM Punk is the surprise number 30 entrant and wins at the end by throwing out Cena. The fans go bat shit for his return as a face, similiar to Y2J, hes back to save us from the WWE programming.

And there you go. You have the Miz vs. CM Punk for the championship. CM punk gets his wrestlemania moment and beats Miz for the title completing the ultimate face turn and cementing himself at the top. .

I dont understand how in the hell ppl have Del Rio in any World title match cause that aint happenin, and a 8 man tag for the titles? really? ...really?

I understand ppl can dream, but damn, this is Mania, can we be real? We all can bet our homes Del Rio isnt headed to SD! to fight Orton. With Rock/Cena being for the title Orton will DEFINATELY be in the World title match, as champ I predict, that leave SD! guys open like Sheamus and Christian but they wont fight him, no... that'd be stupid

You dont have a World title match headlining Mania as SD's main event on the card when you've had the Orton/Christian feud most of 2011 and Sheamus/Orton overdone since Sheamus' first title defense, so the only logical explanation for an opponent for Orton, the champion, at Mania is Cody Rhodes, who has history with Orton... who would do well to be put over by Orton at WM as Orton has won his last two and can lose and put someone over next year. Orton vs Rhodes for the World title with decent storyline potential and history etc from Legacy is the way to go with Cody saying that one on one at Mania not in some triple threat like two years ago, it's his time to shine and Orton will burn in his light.

But people are being unrealistic here, Sheamus and Christian are being thrown in with Orton now because they are saving Rhodes who'll win the Royal Rumble after saying how he was forced to have to miss the rumble last year after being disfigured by Rey, it really all is there to be used by WWE when the time comes, it's all in place.

Miz is getting pushed too but he wont be in a title match for a World title and neither will Del Rio or Sheamus, ppl can get pushed without titles ya know. Miz vs Y2J is a nice one someone pointed out as well as Miz vs Morrison, history behind that too but that to me would be better headlining SummerSlam one day for the WWE title not that it wouldnt be nice at Mania

Del Rio, will also be in a nice undercard match with a decent story but that'll be overshadowed by Miz's match, Rey vs Cara and who knows they could have Riley vs Del Rio or Kofi vs Del Rio, maybe for the US title as a Rey vs Cara feud doesnt need the belt being interpromotional it wouldnt be and Miz/Y2J's mic work wouldnt need a belt in the feud. Del Rio may have a midcard title next year, he doesnt deserve the big one yet. Think about it. Why rush it? If anyone think he should have the strap now then Drew shouldve been had it.

We'll have likely some interpromotional Divas bout, but really they should just let a few shine like back in the day, a Triple Threat would be nice between Kelly Kelly, Melina and Natalya or a Kelly Kelly and a returning Layla going at it with their history that could be a great story and title match in a long while for Divas at Mania since Trish vs Mickie @ WM22, but nothing will rival that story. Kharma wont be back in time for Mania, that's dumb, she's not popping the baby out and returning immediately, she'll be back in time for SummerSlam which is what they were gonna do this year anyway, build to something big at the biggest party of the summer with her after all these attacks.

On the Smackdown! side you have Sheamus vs Barrett as someone said being a very good brawl on the undercard for the blue brand as well as some match with Drew and Ziggler maybe fighting each other or fighting Gabriel and Slater for tag gold, who knows, really I think we'll have a lot of decent undercard rivalries, as there's no MITB match (who knows what ppl who listed that were thinking)

Del Rio will NOT be in a World title match though, it wont happen

Hopefully CM Punk is back and does fight HHH, I'd love to see that as some have mentioned, and I know Y2J vs Taker is rumored, HHH vs Taker III (not 2) isnt worthy of a third go at Mania like Rock/Austin was and Taker vs Foley in HIAC (a decent one) actually is a very good idea to the guy a few posts above who recommended that, nice thinking for a final match to be his greatest hardcore bout at Mania

but really, I think wrestlers should give the fans what they want and show us they care to treat us to what's in popular demand, Sting should just do it for us, I know he doesnt owe us, but damnit even a short term deal just with him wrestling Undertaker only in one match... I think that's the only real way to have Taker's last match at Mania with him winning obviously before he loses his final match to Ted DiBiase Jr. with his dad in his corner, putting him out at Survivor Series later in the year 2012 (taking out what his dad brought in, the only way to end the legacy)

Now, I know that is a long shot, but it should happen and Sting could get a few wins on PPV before his inevitable loss. Imagine Sting vs Chris Jericho @ Elimination Chamber, Sting vs HBK wouldve been awesome but... anyway we could see Sting vs Kane, Sting vs HHH, Sting face to face with Stone Cold, The Rock in various backstage promos, Vince McMahon, Bret Hart, moments waiting to happen.

I think Vince's pockets are deep enough, and Sting could do it, there's no reason why he cant. It's WrestleMania. I hate the fact that wrestlers and promoters have let so much fly out the window on the dream match tip, like I appreciate the ones we've gotten: Rock vs Hogan, Hogan vs HBK, soon Rock vs Cena

but it would really be great to see Hogan leave TNA and face Austin at WM30 where it should be the attraction match headlining alongside what can only be the obvious choice for the WWE title match, John Cena vs Randy Orton, the two main faces. And that match couldve happened anywhere from 2002-2003

The Rock vs Shawn Michaels, that's another that couldve happened in The Attitude Era, before it in 96 and 97 and even after Shawn came back he couldve fought The Rock who fought Brock at the PPV Shawn returned at, how do you not have Rock vs HBK, the promo work wouldve been amazing between the two.

The fact that we never got those two matches outrages me and another would be a huge let down when HHH was being pressured to join nWo (the only member of the Kliq in DX not to go black and white) and they never did have a DX vs nWo match at Survivor Series or any conclusion to that whole HHH join or be foe thing

And here we are, sure we have Rock vs Cena the main event, but Taker's last match along with that also sells this huge and the one guy that is more fitting to be that last opponent over any other is the one main guy that hasnt fought him that could leave TNA late this year and sign with WWE, give the fans what they want and do the job and have a classic match with The Undertaker. I mean I would pick that over getting some botched win over a no sell by a drugged out Jeff Hardy on a PPV, but that's just me.

If I were Sting I'd give the fans what they want and of all the longshot ideas for a match at Mania this one needs to happen, because they are both running out of time in their careers and who else is gonna do it? Sure Jericho would be nice, Foley too, but Sting vs Taker, first time ever, on that stage, anticipated for years is money, as much as Rock/Cena draws on its own, that will up that insurance of beating out the $1,000,040 buys this year's Mania drew.

That's what your Mania card next year should be anyway.

A few things I wanna say first. I've just seen a Thread saying that Randy Orton should be the man to end The Undertakers streak. Never in a million years. Randy has had his match against Undertaker and as proven with Michaels, HHH & Kane, second chances don't seem to do any good for them. Well anyway, when I was watching Monday Night Raw, with Punk discussing contract negotiations with VKM, he mentioned how he didn't care about Cena/Rock, but he would be in the Main Event of Wrestlemania. Now, firstly, that was obviously part of the Contract that Punk tore to shreds, but I still believe that, as it's Punk, he's going to manage to worm his way through it somehow. I wanna go through a couple of ways I think it's going to go down.

1) The "I'm The Best or WWE Championship Route".
So, at MiTB this coming Sunday, Punk does manage to beat John Cena, in any way possible. He then becomes the WWE Champion, possibly in screwjob fashion, so he has worked out a way to settle with VKM. Then, on Raw the next day, or maybe in the future, McMahon comes out to announce that CM Punk WILL have the Main Event spot at Wrestlemania, no matter what. He also says it will be in the WWE Title Match, whether he is Champion or someone else is. However, he set Cena/Rock in stone, so he says Cena can come back on the terms that at WM, he MUST win or never come back again. Also, if Cena's champ by Wrestlemania, Punk will be in that Match. However, Cena will NOT be the WWE Champion by Wrestlemania. Hopefully, Punk will win it, with Cena obviously retaining it in the near future. I would then like to see Alberto Del Rio win it and hold it up until Mania. As per usual, the WWE Championship Match headlines Wrestlemania, with Del Rio & Punk taking the helm. It'd be different as they've not headlined Mania before, so it's fresh and possibly exciting. How it would end up, I don't know.

2) The "Royal Rumble" Route.
So, again, with Punk winning the Title at MiTB, then losing it to Cena in the future, Punk is extremely pissed off at Cena getting it back and vows one day he will win it back for himself. Like everyone who loses their Title, they get a rematch. Punk uses it sooner rather than later, but still doesn't manage to win the Title. I'd like to see him hit a new feud for a while at this point, while we ever more closely approach the Royal Rumble. As always, different men come out, making Promos in which they vow to win the Rumble and be the last of 40 men standing. The one man who never makes a Promo? CM Punk. Considering how great he is with them, he never speaks about the Rumble. Then, 39 men later, Punk wins it. Then his Promos arrive on the scene and he talks about which Title he's going to use his shot on. Obviously, it's the WWE Championship and the Champion is NOT Cena, again. It may be Del Rio, Miz, Riley, Morrison, or whoever holds it, but after the Main Event of Mania, CM Punk is the NEW WWE Champion.

3) The "Undertaker Streak" Route.
So, the whole Punk/Cena/VKM/MiTB thing happens, as I've said now, twice over. Then, Punk loses the rematch, as I've also said. So what next for Punk? He believes that to cement what he knows of "him being the best" is to go after the streak of the Deadman, The Undertaker. He challenges the Deadman to a Wrestlemania Match and eventually, he accepts it. The two men play their mindgames, week after week, with Punk pulling A* Promos every Raw and Taker bringing himself out on Smackdown. Eventually, the two men face off at Wrestlemania, it what could most likely be match of the year. It's most likely Taker wins here, but anything would be amazing.

So tell me, what do you think?

If CM Punk does stay with WWE, I'd love to see him main event WM 28 against The Undertaker. If WWE ever does intend to end The Streak, then it needs to be ended by someone that's ultimately going to benefit from it. Guys like John Cena and Randy Orton simply do not need to end The Streak. When you're a 10 and 7 time World Champion respectively and have been as big a stars in the WWE as Orton & Cena have been, breaking The Streak isn't going to elevate you all that much.

CM Punk is the most talked about wrestler in the world right now and is the hottest. It could easily be built up as a clash between "the best" of the current generation and "the best" of the previous generation. I know "the best" is always subjective but I don't think anyone that's ever wrestled in WWE has as much universal respect from wrestlers and fans as The Undertaker. The Streak has become a central part of WrestleMania in and of itself and the WWE has really made an efford the past several years to make the Taker match at WM an epic encounter. Punk doesn't carry the weight of legends like HBK or Triple H, but he's white hot and if WWE can keep that momentum going, then an Undertaker vs. CM Punk match at WrestleMania can still generate as much excitement, buzz and interest as those previous matches.

Wow for one thing i dont wanna see HHH vs taker 3 no no please creative no!! Their wm match was one for the books no doubt!! But Punk if it would happen would be the guy to go over!! I cant think of anyone else!! Punk is so hot right now he makes hell look like anartica (sorry i misspelled that one its early) why not have punk continue this until WM!! i would be very intersted in the storyline if punk does stay in wwe

CM Punk vs. Triple H w/ Stephanie McMahon

Punk already called out Triple H for being a doofus who will ultimately be running the company in the future. Triple H and Stephanie could be revealed as the Anonymous Raw GMs and feud with Punk. Assuming Punk just spent a few months feuding with McMahon, the feud is then transitioned onto Triple H and Stephanie so Punk can actually have someone to face at Mania. Punk goes over obviously. They need to set up Punk as a STAR! Beating Triple H would make that happen.

Facing Undertaker wouldn't work because Punk can't go over, and losing to the Deadman and becoming another mark on the list really does nothing for his career.

Facing Cena could work, but I'd prefer Punk face a heel.

Facing Mr. McMahon would definitely be a high-profile match, but McMahon isn't in the shape he used to be and its not like they'll put on a classic. Facing his son-in-law works better.

Facing Alberto Del Rio is the only other one that could definitely work, but I feel that Del Rio isn't an established talent yet and therefore can't put over Punk and establish him as a STAR like Triple H can.

Steve Austin is the only other best opponent out there for Punk, but too bad that won't happen.

the way i truely see it is with rock being back into things for next years wrestlemania, the logic thing in my mind is having 2 main events with the 2 top former stars. i see rock/cena and punk/austin. punk wearing austins t-shirt and the staredown they had, i just see one match left in austin. before you start saying how crazy i am, dont you think vince truely wants the best wrestlemania for once. last years was not too good.

Is it just me or would this match be worth watching at WM28. I would have to say it would be one Epic match and one of the highlights of the night, In my opinion.. But we all know The Rock vs John Cena is going to be the Main Event of the night and might be the best match of this year.. But back to the Cm Punk vs HHH match, Yes HHH isn't in his prime anymore and he's a (41) year old veteran, and he is very injury proned but I still think when the cerebral assassin is fully fit and a 100% up the match, he still can pull off a really good match. For me I hope this match happens because last years Wrestlemania was a serious let down there was only 3 good matches ( Edge vs Alberto Del Rio, Cm Punk vs Randy Orton, Undertaker vs HHH) Wrestlemania is the one night of the year where dreams come true and it's where dream matches happen. Im not saying Cm Punk vs HHH is a dream match but I think it would be a seriously good match to watch at next years WM28.

I would like your thoughts and opinions on what I just said

Thanks:lmao:

This would be a great match, but I think if HHH is going to make an appearance at WM, he should make an appearance to put someone over, like the Miz. CM Punk is making a whole lot of noise right now and is pulling off the best mic work of his life. Like I said, I wouldn't be against it at all if it happened. Would love to see HHH help someone out for the first time in his career.

I expect we will see CM Punk in a huge WM match this year but I have no idea who it will be. HHH would be an obvious candidate after what Punk said about him in his now notorious promo.

I think it would be a great match, HHH always delivers on the big stage which is why he has been as successful as he has been throughout his career and Punk is one of the best wrestlers in the world today, so I fully expect that if the two of them locked up that it would be a quality match

I just want Triple H back in the ring, he is still one of the very best in the business and his return would bring back some much needed star power to the WWE. The fans love him, he is a legend in the business and I would MTFO to see him announce his full-time return again.

Who knows if that ever will happen though, I dont think it will unless he craves the spotlight again which doesnt seem to be the case at the moment.

Can we please stop talking about ending the streak? No one deserves to end the streak, there is no man greater than the streak and the fact that you even think CM Punk should be that man is a slap in the face to Jake Roberts, Ric Flair, Edge, Kane, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Batista, and Randy Orton. As for the Rumble, I'd love to see Punk win the Rumble (if Chris Jericho isn't in the company) and he does deserve it so hopefully that happens. The first option doesn't even make sense to me so I can't even address it.

It wouldn't be too far stretched, the way Punk has been going on the will be plenty of seeds for a legit feud with HHH. But the are 2 things to put in question, will HHH face the Undertaker and will they sustain they keep the build going for long enough without making it boring? Perhaps have Punk go on the odd offensive against the McMahons for ages before HHH comes out around Royal Rumble time.

I know HHH has had 2 different quad injuries but I wouldn't say he's injury prone and 41 isn't old in wrestling (Hogan, HBK, Flair, Sting, Jericho, Bret Hart are some of the many examples of this fact). That being said, a HHH vs Punk match at WM28 would be legendary. Triple H has had trouble recently creating classics with the likes of Orton and Sheamus but he proved his worth at WM27 and I think he can do it again at WM28 with a great in-ring worker like Punk. My only issue is that I'd love for HHH to come back as a monster heel, so Punk would have to turn face in order for this to truly be my dream match.

I can't see the WWE dragging this CM Punk/Cena thing out much longer...Summerslam will probably be the last match of the angle. I've been thinking about this, and you hit it spot on with Punk ending Undertakers WM streak. It all depends how the Undertaker would feel about that. That would really boost CM Punk to elite status. What if Rock beats Cena at WM, becomes champion and CM Punk faces Rock the next month? Maybe Cena goes on a kayfabe injury leave or something. Just a thought, and a damn good one, but probably too good to be true.

Would love to see HHH help someone out for the first time in his career.

Triple H put over Batista at WM 21 and Cena at WM 22 but on to the topic, I would love to see HHH vs Punk. With Punk calling him a doofus and all the other stuff he's been saying theres not a better opponent for Punk except.... Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The war of words between these two are still going on, With punk wearing the SCSA shirt during his worked shoot, possibly Austin not liking everything he's been saying about the WWE and the fans, Austin would be the perfect guy to shut Punk up.

Punk is doing the best mic work of his career, and with Punk being excellent in the ring either one of those guys would work great ring psychology with him and would steal thee show away from Cena vs Rock.

I was hoping Punk would say he wanted Taker at Wrestlemania. The roof would have blown off that place if he said that.
I really doubt he'll be in the main event unless it's a title match. Rock and Cena will have the spotlight that night. Unfortunately, Punk won't be.

Do any of you realize Punk saying he wantd the main event at WM was only part of the storyline right? Punk MIGHT have a mania match, but it will probably be shared ME. No it wont be against Undertaker

I think this Wrestlemania looks very good but i just dont get why Vince wouldnt want to capitilize on as many big matches as he can. If they make Rock vs Cena the wwe championship match, you are screwing themselves over with making new stars. if they had Rock vs Cena, both title matches and undertakers streak, thats 4 main event matches you have. you could make undertaker vs punk/orton/ADR and then have 4 young up and comers compete for the world titles.
i think the card should look:
Rock vs Cena

Undertaker vs ADR

WWE Title Match
Miz vs Jericho

CM Punk vs Triple H

World Heavyweight title
Barrett vs Orton

i think that looks like i pretty good uppercard for wrestlemania. there would still be plenty of great undercard matches and no doubt this would be a memorable wrestlemania.

I hope that the WWE Champion is not on the line for Cena vs. The Rock. Unless The Rock plans on sticking around for a while. It would be a huge waste to have the belt tied up in a main event that doesn't need it.

For all of those who saw one of the most awesome PPV's in a long long time, John Cena received probably the largest amount of boos in his career. Even the most dastardly of heels never got booed that much. And the pop that CM Punk received... It was pretty much just as loud as the pop the rock received when he returned. maybe even louder (this isnt a rock bashing thread. im just trying to make a point)

I want to ask two questions.

1. Firstly will John Cena be booed just as much at Wrestlemania 28 in front of 60000 people at Miami which is the Rocks home town as he was at MITB.

2. If he is. Then would the WWE want to risk possible rioting, thousands of unhappy fans and immense booing when Cena wins. Nobody wants to see their hometown hero lose at a stage like that.

Your thoughts.

Yes he will be booed just as loud. Thats whats awesome about Cena. He created a love/hate character. Rock will lose similar too Hogan losing too the rock.

1. Yes. Infact, because hes going up against THE ROCK I think he'll get booed even more.

2. This is a very good question. They did the same idea at Mania 18 with Hogan/ Rock (though fair enough, rock wasn't booed HALF as much as Cena normally is on that night). The simple answer is... I don't know.

But a way to remove these problems is to turn Cena heel. He's going to get booed anyway so why not amplify it? Before anyone says, I know he sells a lot of t shirts.

No he won't. I see it more split 50/50 like it was for Rock vs. Hogan. When it comes to professional wrestling, Miami isn't a passionate fanbase compared to Chicago, NYC, Philly, or Boston. Will the crowd be hot? Absolutely. It's WrestleMania and quite possibly the highest drawing match ever. But it won't be HOSTILE like the Chicago fans were last night.

And if fans riot over a scripted show, then what the hell has this world come to?

On WrestleZone's main page, there's a story regarding a possible development between Punk & Jericho. Yesterday, it's reported that Jericho "blasted" Punk for mentioning him on Raw. According to the WZ source, Jericho is pitching a program for himself & Punk for next year's WrestleMania and that there's no bad blood between the two. Jericho's comments were storyline oriented.

I would absolutely love to see this come about. From promos to matches, I think this has great written all over it. Ideally, at least for me that is, I'd love to see these two feud over the WWE Championship come WrestleMania. I'd like to see Punk get a long reign with the title and for Jericho to return in order to "save the WWE" from CM Punk. With Daniel Bryan having announced that he intends to cash in his MITB, and assuming WWE doesn't do something to screw him out of it between now and then, so the WHC for WM is set. Jericho could return as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble, there's always at least one each year, win the thing and go after Punk at WrestleMania.

Even if the title isn't involved, which I personaly would hope it'd be as it would give the angle more sizzle and would keep it at the forefront of one of the biggest feuds in WWE, it could still be a great feud.
