Road to Wrestlemania 28 - KEEP ALL WM28 GENERAL DISCUSSION IN HERE!!

I personally would love to see this match. If the WWE really does want Miz to be the future face of the company (which I really think they do, he beat Cena at Mania!!!) then what better way to have someone like Stone Cold put him over at Mania? Even though it wasn't clean, Cena did put him over at Mania, and even gave him props tonight on Raw.

But if this match was to happen, Miz would HAVE to win. Because what could the WWE gain from Austin winning? And why would Austin need the win? Better off to let Austin put the Miz over to cement him at the top of the WWE with Cena and Orton etc.

I am by no means a Miz fan, and if I hear about a match he's gunna have I disregard it. Beforehand, I didn't give shit about his match with Cena at Mania, even if Rocky was to be involved.

However, I think this could really be a great match. I've always thought that Miz could become one of the great 'brawlers', and that all he needs is a feud with a high-level brawler. Even if he battles Triple H 3 weeks in a row on RAW, he could gain confidence and learn a lot.
And if he can learn to make a WWE fist-fight look good, he can vs Stone Cold.

So yeah, I'd love for this match to happen.

The WWE sorely needs to push younger talent. With an entire year to go and Wrestlemania now being built around Rock / Cena, there is plenty of time to build up some of that younger talent and phase out some of the older talent. How about a new push for Chris Masters who has been underutilized since the Master Lock Challenge days. Reunite the Harts. Push Jack Swagger back into the title scene. The man is huge and has an awesome presence. Push Sheamus again. Ted DiBiase Jr is nearly forgotten about after they seemed to give him a push against Orton before that group broke up. Face turn and give him a push.

So we have Rock / Cena. How about adding:
*New Hart Foundation vs Corre (C) for the Tag Titles
*Daniel Bryan vs Ted DiBiase (C) for the U.S. Title (stipulation, if DiBiase wins he retains title and gets Gail Kim for 24 hours....shades of Rick Flair / Baby Doll).
*Undertaker vs Jack Swagger for the Streak and it ends here, the torch is passed to a new generation.
*Sheamus vs Wade Barrett in a grudge match. Sheamus cowers to Corre the same way he did to Nexus and Barrett calls him out for being a coward. Instant feud / rivalry.
*Christian vs Punk. Just seems like this could be a good feud, pretty evenly matched. Best of 3 falls.

Can probably come up with more match ideas or ways to push a youth movement instead of burying the youth under old talent.

One of two things need to happen and I mean NEED to happen, with one thing remaining the same. The Miz should be WWE Champion going into WrestleMania 28.

Chris Jericho is the last big Attitude Era star who hasnt returned yet with all the others who have came back on The Road to WrestleMania so expect to see him return the only way I can see a third return working...

where else in WWE do you see a count down?

THE ROYAL RUMBLE

Have him come out as number 1 or 10, with a ten count countdown clock but a special one have the RR clock go then stop then nothing happens then HIS clock appears and the crowd will erupt

bottom line is either Jericho or Morrison (a face for the first time in a long time) should win the Royal Rumble and I guarantee the RR will beat Miz, now Morrison needs this win, but if it's not him then definately Y2J who already hinted at a feud with Miz saying he sees himself on Raw, but realized he wasnt that ugly and needs to go get his gimmick back and sue for gimmick infringement

anyway if he faces Miz he'll be a face and upon return would get cheered anyway and let's face it, that's a dream match too, either one works

so I officially call Y2J/Miz or Miz/Morrison

as for the World Championship... I see Sheamus heading to SD! this Draft so I'll say Sheamus vs Edge, Sheamus vs Wade Barrett (I'll be honest not sure right now, but some way some how I see Sheamus in the World title bout on SD!'s main event @ Mania)

There could be Orton heading to SD! to carry it to bigger numbers now that The Rock is back, then he'd be in, but we could very well get a Orton/Austin or Punk/Austin bout

it's very up in the air

we could have Y2J/Punk for the World title & Miz/Morrison for the WWE title who knows

I atleast hope we get Miz/Morrison or Y2J/Miz

That could be an exciting match. I hope they don't set it soon if they are going to do that however, we already have a year to wait with Rock/Cena. But it could definitely cement him as a top level guy. Especially if he does really well over the course of the next year, which he only seems to be getting better day in and day out. However, at this point, I wouldn't be surpised if he still was champ next year. I thought for sure he wasn't gonna get out of Mania as champ. And then when Del Rio lost (which was totally ridiculous, but thats for another thread), I thought for sure Cena would win, with no other title match on the card (which again was ridiculous, again another thread), I thought at least one of the titles would have changed hands. So they are doing a good job at keeping me guessing. And I think an Austin/Miz fued would be a really good way to put him over, he's already beaten Cena and Orton in the same title run, at the Rumble AND mania, to beat Austin as well, even if not as champ, would really help put him over.

I don't see Austin returning - regardless if he wins or loses should this situation occur. The man has said over and over that his last match was with The Rock at WMXIX, no if's and's or but's.

Glad he walked out and didn't job to Coach all those years ago....

Could you imagine this card?

Cena vs Rock
Austin vs Miz
Taker going for 20-0
Raw champ (if not the Miz) vs #1 contender
World heavyweight champ vs #1 contender

Discuss.

*Cena vs Rock is set as it stands now but with an entire year (way too much time) anything can happen and matches can get scrapped. You never know what might happen. Contract issue, injury, storyline changes.

* Austin vs Miz. Yawn!! Austin showed last night he can still rumble. But I lack interest in this matchup. If Miz is the future of the WWE then he needs to get something going with another future character of the WWE. Build for the long term.

*Taker going for 20-0. As I stated in another thread, use this to pass the torch to a new generation. Taker was the catalyst for the passing of the Hogan era. Let him be pass his era on. Jack Swagger vs Taker to end the streak and usher in a new era. The longer guys like Taker are around, the worse shape WWE is in for the future with young talent being buried.

*WWE and World champions vs #1 contender. First you have to have a ranking system to even have a #1 contender. Enough of these stupid #1 contender matches. Start ranking them now and create the old "climb the ladder" system of the past. Personally though, I believe the two titles should be unified at the next Wrestlemania. Champ vs Champ.

*No Tag Championship at WM27. Re-establish the tag division in 2011 and make sure there is a tag title match in 2012.

*US and Intercontinental titles should be on the line as should the Diva's title.

*I stated in another thread, Sheamus vs Barrett who calls out Sheamus for being a coward during the original Nexus push. Steel Cage maybe?

Austin would need some serious conditioning. He looked really out of shape on Raw and you could tell when he was waiting for the stunner it was obvious he had blown out.

I dont think The Miz would be a good fit for Austin. CM Punk would be amazing, I think most want Orton for Austin but I hate Orton so I would like to see CM Punk.

If you had asked me this question before today, I would have said that there was no fucking chance of this happening. But after what has transpired today with The Rock, I am not exactly sure. Austin and Rock have always had a healthy rivalry with each other backstage. Rock's success does sput Austin on. Maybe Austin is having second thoughts about retirement after seeing that The Rock is back. He didn't do too badly on Monday either when he hit all his signature moves on Riley.

Anyhow if Austin does decide to have a match at WrestleMania, I would want it to happen against CM Punk. Not that Miz is a bad choice but Punk as the straight edge messiah would be the perfect antagonist for the beer drinking redneck.

So I am still going with no but there is a slight chance that this may happen. Say about 5% chance.

I do not think that we will see a second dream match and the only one I think that a suitable dream match would be between punk and austin, definitely not orton, but we have heard over and over again that austin does not want to wrestle full time, but if he were to wrestle I think that him vs cm punk would be a great match and could have a great feud because they are both practically opposites in this business.

Austin vs. The Miz sounds terrible, definitely not a worth buying match, well maybe because austin is on it, but you could place him with someone like cm punk and now thats a match people will look forward to, this match has to guys who have made Dave Meltzer's 5 Star Match rating list, and The Miz's highest rated match was 3 and a half and that was him being carried by Daniel Bryan.

I was honestly thinking similar thoughts to you, MJS. Not quite the Summerslam thing but the ramifications of it being announced now rather than later.

Any WWE/WHC match involving Cena towards the end of the year is pretty much pointless now because "Oh, wait, he has to drop the title before Wrestlemania otherwise it's Rock Vs Cena for the belt and the challenger is having one match only."

Cena should have made the challenge and had Rock do EVERYTHING to avoid it. Throughout the year the WWE should bring up almost every reference that the media makes in regards to the Rock and had Cena go out of his mind nuts about it.

Comes time for the Royal Rumble. Cena gets screwed out of the Royal Rumble by The Rock. The following night on RAW, Rock officially accepts Cena's challenge.

This? I don't like it because of the title picture towards the end of the year and Cena's natural involvement in it as one of the leading guys in the company.

I dont think there was really anything to Miz and Austins confrontation last night. Miz came out during the Tough Enough segment because he is a former TE runner-up (should've been winner but thats what happens when fans vote). Austin wasn't doing TE during his time so he was trying to prove a point of "how can Austin train when he has been gone from the game for so long" and Austin beat on Riley. Had Miz and Austin gone at it THEN I would say something is being built.

On the other side of that...Miz needed something to gain heat back on him. Since Cena was being booed at Mania, Miz was starting to gain SOME cheers. WWE might have been scared that fans would start cheering Miz and they aren't ready for that...yet. Miz could spend another 6 months as a heel, but Austin vs Miz at WM 28 will not happen.

Besides...Austins body is so beaten and broken that he himself said he will not wrestle anymore.

*Undertaker vs Jack Swagger for the Streak and it ends here, the torch is passed to a new generation.

The streak ending to Jack Swagger?

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously, stop planning a year's ahead. I'd love to see Austin/Punk but Austin is done in the ring. He's had chances to come back and consistently declines. I think he's happy with his last match being a headliner at WM19 against The Rock.

What I would like to see though at next year's WrestleMania is a young gunner challenging Undertaker for 20-0. Having someone like CM Punk, John Morrison, Sheamus, Ted Dibiase, etc. taking Undertaker to the limit at WrestleMania can catapult their career just like it did with Randy Orton. Please for the love of God not another Triple H match.

Better yet, I'd like to see a Triple Threat between Taker and two of those younger guys.

I think you got it wrong there....

The Rock vs John Cena is
No. 2 of Attitude Era vs No. 1 of PG Era

Steve Austin vs Randy Orton will be
No. 1 of Attitude Era vs No. 2 of PG Era.

All those who want to see Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker, please don't forget that he is a MMA fighter now. No, I am not saying it from the perspective that he has a UFC contract or that he is done with wrestling....I am saying it from a different perspective.

Imagine if during the match, Brock just forgets that he is in a wrestling match and applies some real MMA submission move, or beats up 'Taker real hard...we can't risk the health of the poor old man!

The Miz layed his hands on Steve Austin with a cheap shot on RAW. There will be pay back for that surely? Otherwise that makes Austin look extremely weak. I don't know about you guys but he looked in good shape on RAW and WWE could still sell an Austin vs Miz match around the whole Tough Enough scenario, which financially would make sense for all parties. People talk about Austin like he's a cripple! From what I can tell he's far from it!

I do not want to see Orton Vs Austin. I don't see the rivalry in that anywhere.

They are both the antihero. That's it.

Now straight edge cultist Punk Vs beer drinking legend Austin - that has epic build all over it.

Punk could get the win but then Austin stunners Punk at the end of the match and we get the beerfest all over Punk. We get Austin putting over Punk and then the Wrestlemania moment - that's epic.

I love this thread- hopefully it stays there the whole year and we can update it. However, I would suggest that we change the thread name to "PREDICT Wrestlemania XXVIII"

Here's my card.

Attitude Era Vs Now: The Rock Vs John Cena

Man, oh man they could have made it a bigger build than this. I'm disappointed that they announced it so early. They should have made Cena chase The Rock for a match all year. It would have given it a much bigger build. Rock keeps turning Cena down all throughout the year only to screw him at the Royal Rumble.

Imagine Cena on movie sets chasing down The Rock only to bump into Rock's co-stars who either have nice things to say about The Rock or are supportive of Cena's plans. Have it start with the promotion for Fast and Furious -- imagine, Vin Diesel on RAW stopping Cena from getting to The Rock, etc, etc. It would have given the WWE a lot of major mainstream publicity. It would have cemented Cena's name on a lot of the gossip/TMZ/Hollywood glamor shows.

Cena has a down year title wise because he's always got his mind on The Rock. It consumes him. He gets shots but constantly loses. We occasionally get The Rock's music being hit only for Cena to be distracted and turn right into the finisher -- such as the Skull Crushing Finale at Extreme Rules in their rematch.

It's going to be big regardless but they let the cat out of the bag. Now I hope Rock doesn't suffer a freak injury on a movie set. With the types of movies that he does it's always a distinct possibility.[/B]

Straight Edge Vs Stone Cold Drinker: CM Punk Vs Stone Cold Steve Austin

I don't give a rats ass about an Orton Vs Austin match. So Orton's a legend killer (as a heel) and an antihero. Big Woop! It's a Who Gives a F' match. However, Punk Vs Austin has already had a build start - via twitter - for the IWC and Punk has more than sufficient wrestling ability to carry Austin through a classic while protecting him. [/B]

WWE Championship: The Miz Vs John Morrison

This is the championship match that I want to see next Wrestlemania. Both guys are the future and with the aforementioned matches taking place would have the protection that the WWE may believe it requires to cover the buy rate. We get a boyhood dream type story with Morrison winning the Royal Rumble up against the Miz who is determined to make JoMo the Marty Jannetty of the tag-team without a shadow of a doubt.

The Undertaker Vs Chris Jericho

Now that Cena is in a match with Rock this is the one "dream match" containing Taker that I have left for him to do. Whenever these two have been in the ring together, admittedly rarely, they've illustrated that they would have incredible chemistry. It'd do very well for a 20-0 match. Jericho is a viable threat for Taker as well.

WWE Extreme Championship: Rey Mysterio Vs Sin Cara

Throughout the year I would merge the IC and the US titles into one belt (retaining the IC title) and introduce an Extreme Championship - an anything goes belt similar to the hardcore title and the TNA X-Division. The obvious match for mine would be a Mysterio Vs Sin Cara match at Wrestlemania XXVIII where both guys are given the opportunity to go balls to the wall. Would be a match of the year contender.

Retirement Match: Triple H Vs Wade Barrett

If Triple H loses (and he does) he retires (I haven't seen RAW so don't know what he did, if anything, on it). What a way for Triple H to bow out of his WWE career against the man who I feel can become the "next" Triple H of the WWE in Wade Barrett. What a way to legitimize Barrett as a main event caliber star on the WWE roster.

World Heavyweight Championship - Triple Threat Match: Randy Orton (c) Vs Edge Vs Christian

Build it similarly to Wrestlemania XX's triple threat championship match only having Christian win a #1 contender's elimination chamber match with Orton beating Edge in the other chamber match (Orton defends, Edge gets his rematch, Christian gets his #1 contenders slot) in so far as Christian as built as the "hard luck story" of someone who constantly gets up there but hasn't got what it takes to win the big one. Christian wins the title in this match.

Money in the Bank: Alberto Del Rio Vs Sheamus Vs Daniel Bryan Vs Dolph Ziggler Vs Cody Rhodes Vs Big Show Vs Kane Vs Jack Swagger Vs Kofi Kingston Vs Evan Bourne Vs Drew McIntyre

The WWE made a bad mistake in my opinion when they removed MITB from Wrestlemania. While it is true that it has its own pay-per-view it is something that adds a lot to Wrestlemania and this year it felt as though it was lacking to me. This should be the opening bout. Who wins? Whoever is hottest/most ready at the time.

am I the only one who doesnt care about the Rock vs Cena the match should be subtitled "the attitude era's most overated vs the PG era's most overrated. and it should be at SummerSlam the WWE screwed this up.and as far as Austin vs Miz rumors what, is wrestlemania 28 gonna be wwe Allstars come to life? BUILD YOUR FUTURE TALENT!, WWE! Thou I would love to see one more run for Austin maybe a even a short WWE title reign but not a year build up with the Miz.

i'm gonna go with

WWE Title

John Morrisson vs Chris Jericho(c) - Everyone seems convinced it will be The Miz in the title picture next year, however i need to say that The Miz won't be carrying around a title come this time next year. I expect a Miz face turn at some point when Jericho returns and a feud between the two at either Summerslam or a little later at Survivor Series. Expect Miz to drop the belt and Jericho to go into the program with Morrisson to help elevate his career. These 2 can put on an incredible match

World Title

Wade Barrett vs. The Undertaker - I was expecting Cena/Taker next year but with Cena out of the picture its the chance for a young up and comer to take on the streak. Its pretty obvious to the IWC that if The Undertaker were to lose at Wrestlemania it would be to elevate a younger star to superstardom. The Undertaker's match at Wrestlemania would be a lot less predictable if he is facing someone that truely needs the win.

The only other match, besides Rock/Cena, that I get a strong feeling is going to happen is Taker/HHH III. Now, that could be a good or a bad thing. If they both stay in decent physical condition, I think they could definitely top their match this year. On the other hand, the constant Undertaker rematches at WrestleMania are getting a little repetitive, and it could be more productive to have him face someone who he either hasn't faced in a while, or someone who he's never faced. But who knows what could happen between now and then, or if another good option could emerge.

The same could be said for the rest of the card. I feel it's difficult to predict what will happen in a year; for example, who knew that The Miz and Alberto Del Rio would be main eventing this year's WrestleMania? It depeds on where they're at with each feud, and whether certain feuds have been done by then. I would love to see Edge vs. Christian, for example, but I have a feeling that it will be done long before then.

Yeah that's true too. Aside from Brock being under contract with the UFC and Dana White publicly saying that he would not let Brock do such a thing, the neurons in Brock's brain are programmed differently now. If he were in a match he might not even think about hurting Taker with a real MMA move and just "react" that way.

Two reasons why this match wouldn't and shouldn't happen. Taker should fight someone like CM Punk or Sheamus next year and catapult one of those younger stars to a new level like he did with Orton.

Stone Cold is never wrestling again. He has made this clear on numerous occasions, and I don't see his point of view on it changing anytime soon, especially with him only getting more up there in age by the year.

With that said, if he were to get back in the ring, and he couldn't face Cena because he's occupied with Rock... the best possible feud, to me, would be with CM Punk. Punk's character is such a perfectly direct contrast with Austin's, and the storyline of the straight edge guy against the constant beer drinker just writes itself. They could even throw in a stipulation relating to the lifestyles; for example, if Austin wins, Punk has to drink a beer. It would be great television to see the two of them go at it on the mic, as I feel that Punk would be able to hold his own.

As many said before this is really hard to call with a full year until Wrestlemania 28 but if I had to predict the two world titles matches I would say:

WWE Title: The Miz(c) vs. John Morrison. I expect Miz to drop this title in the coming year but regain it for Mania, Morrison needs big wins in the coming year to solidify his main event status but we seen these two guys can put an exciting title match and by next year I hope Miz evolves more into a wrestler not a brawler.

World Heavyweight Title: Either Edge(c) vs. Randy Orton or C.M. Punk(c) vs Wade Barrett. I know two completely different match ups and fueds but Edge/Orton are big stars who have no faced on the grand stage yet and Punk/Barrett can run a television program and are golden on the mic. We want Punk in the main event at Mania and most of us feel Barrett is WHC material when he drops The Corrrre

I hope W.M. 28 doesn't turn into another gimmick W.M. like this past one was. Old stars trying to make a comeback one...more...time...I just don't wanna see it all happen. I'm sure i'm not the only one here who thinks this but I really don't think its wise to book W.M. 28 almost a year in advance. Ok they made one match, and even thats risky so they shouldn't be adding more matches for a PPV thats next April. I'm a fan of the Rock and Austin but come on, there time is up and they don't need to do anything else so how about WWE actually follows up with the youth movement? I know i'll get the whole "none of these guys are as good!" well thats because WWE hasn't even given these guys a chance. They have a little feud with a main eventer, lose the match, and thats the last we see of them (morrison, swagger, ziggler.) No more A.E. people, please. Again, this is my opinion on the whole Wrestlemania 28 thing.
