NFL WEEK 6 LD

I can't wait for Stafford to come back in 2 weeks. I'm sick of watching Shaun Hill and Drew Stanton try and lead our team to a win. Thankfully our bye's up next, so Matt will have an extra week to prepare for Washington (obviously). Very frustrating game, though. Jammed my pinkie punching the floor at their stupidity. Too many mistakes cost us. We still had a shot to win, but we killed ourselves with penalties.

Ugh, 1-5 is still 1-5, but I'm hoping Stafford can lead us to a few wins close, and end this shitty road losing streak that we always seem to have. Hopefully our Line can protect him and he won't get hurt after the first hit. I'd rather see him fall on his own and kill a down instead of taking too much and getting sacked. Manning does the same thing, and look where he is.

We need to be more disciplined. We can't afford to be the most penalized team in the league and expect to win. Just can't. Don't have enough talent yet.

The real problem is we cheer for an organization that has adapted to a losing culture. If anyone expected us to pull out the "big finish," they were out of their fucking minds.

Yeah, because a Quarterback is going to change everything, right? That doesn't happen, not in Detroit. We don't have enough talent. With Peyton Manning, we wouldn't win more than 6 games.

I'd much rather have Stafford then Stanton or Hill. The problem is that they don't target Calvin enough early. 2 catches in the first half? C'mon man. And with Stafford's better arm that should open up the run game for Best since teams won't stack the box against him.

And the D hasn't been bad, they just make too many dumb penalties that extend drives. That can be fixed, and it better be in this 2 week span they have.

We have weapons. Burleson, Megatron, Scheffler, Best, Pettigrew are all good threats. Just need to get them the ball more.

Speaking as a Giants fan we did not deserve to win that game against detroit. We gave them too many short fields on special teams, no blitzing, and that fluke 80 yard TD from Calvin Johnson was unacceptable. Then Coughlin gets extremely conservative and plays to not lose.

If the receiver doesn't fumble the ball, I think that game ends up differently. So much for the Giants having the number one defense, team's definitely going to take a dive in the rankings.

The lions are a good football team. Easily can be 5-1

So, the Jets are ensured of ending the week with the best record in the NFL. Here are my thoughts on the game.

1. Mark Sanchez had his worst game of the season (yes, even including the week 1 loss where he never had a chance to throw down the field). Last year, his bad games were so bad the Jets would have no chance of winning the game. However, this year his bad game he is not only able to give his team a chance to win, but he got the game winning TD drive inside 2 minutes. HUGE improvement over last season. 200 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs isn't as bad as the 3, 4, or 5 INT games from 09.
2. LT is a beast. Nuff said. Thanks San Diego for giving him to us for free.
3. Darelle Revis is still not healthy, and should NOT have played either this week or last week. Hell, he shouldn't even PRACTICE until after the next game.
4. Cromartie had a hell of a game today, which seems to be normal. 1 pass interference (that was iffy), and a few catches.
5. The defensive pass interference on the Jets Game Winning Drive was an obvious call that had to be made. The defender Roethlisbergered Holmes, who still almost came up with it.

In the time it took for me to type all of that, the game started, the Colts punted, McNabb threw a pick, and Manning threw a 57 yard TD to Garcon. 7-0 Mannings.

Great googly moogly SD sucks this year, a team that is suppose to be a SB contender should not be losing to teams like StL. and Oak.:disappointed:

No shit, but that doesn't mean we're a 6 or 8 win team with him. Probably not even a 5 win team.

It's a problem, but it isn't the problem. We have, A. Lack of talent/depth, and B. A total losing mentality. Targeting Calvin Johnson so little is a problem, but we need to be able to run the ball. To win a football game, you use the run to set up the pass, not the other way around. Games are won and lost on the line, and we don't have the offensive line to win ANY of those battles.

Backus and Cherilus are jokes, Raiola is getting old, and our guards are average at best. As long as I've been a Lions fan, we've had a shit offensive line, and it continues today. Not everything is about the skill position players. If it were, we wouldn't be in so much trouble every, single year.

And the D hasn't been bad, they just make too many dumb penalties that extend drives. That can be fixed, and it better be in this 2 week span they have.

We make plays as a defense, I'll give you that. But we can't stop anyone. We are one of the worst defenses in the league, in terms of giving up yards and touchdowns. The penalties are a problem..and have been for years. See a patern here? The Lions are apart of a losing culture, and it hurts them every year.

We have weapons. Burleson, Megatron, Scheffler, Best, Pettigrew are all good threats. Just need to get them the ball more.

Yeah, weapons, and no offensive line. Haven't had one..ever. Not since the 50's. A team can have all of the weapons it wants, but when the Quarterback is on his ass every 3rd play because we can't keep pressure off of him, it doesn't matter. Thinking 'weapons' can solve our problems is why Matt Millen is no longer with the team.

Matt Millen is no longer with the team because he's was and still is a massive fucking ******, possibly the single worse GM in the history of professional sports

nickb is right. The Lions need 2 things to succeed.
1. An offensive line that can keep a QB off his backside. A young QB (hell, most any QB) need a line to give him enough time to make his reads. If he can't get the time, he will get hurt all the time (like he is now).
2. a veteran with a history of winning. If they can somehow wrangle a defensive player from the Stealers, or an aging guy from the Colts or Giants or Saints Super Bowl teams. All it takes is one guy from a winning culture to begin the culture change.

Until they get either one (preferably both), they likely will be a sub .500 team (MAYBE a .500 team).

Right..because he had no clue how to put together a football team, including how to draft/build a team. Does he know more about football than I do? Without a doubt. He was a great player in the pro's for a long time. But that doesn't mean he can jump from the announcing booth into building/running a team. The hire made no sense, and we see where it's gotten the Lions.

...well looks like I'm going to be moving onto a 6-0 record in one of my leagues:D

Still got some work to do in the other
