Last time for the cheap seats.
I don't agree that Cena is as great as most of his supporters think he is. Which puts me on one side of a big wall. Some of you believe he is the second coming. Which puts you on the other side of said wall. Somewhere in the middle is the truth. He's not as bad as one person may think he is.
He's the top face of the company, deservedly so.
He worked his butt off to get over and he has a ridiculously loyal fan base.
He's dedicated to the business and overall, seems to be a genuinely nice guy.
That's my opinion of him, from my side of the wall. (guaranteed to be respected.)
I respect him as a wrestler and as person, and I can understand why you all love him.

But I, as a long time wrestling fan, in my opinion and solely, MY opinion, have seen better.
Hogan was better. Rock & Stone Cold were better. IMO, Shawn Michaels was the greatest in ring performer of all time. Thats debatable to some but hey thats MY opinion.
I'm not here to war with anyone. It WAS a John Cena complaints forum, and now its a discussion forum. I have discussed, at length my opinion agree or disagree. It is what it is.
I haven't bashed him and I won't. When i say to me he's just Ok...I mean just that. I don't mean "he sucks and all of you who love him are stupid women and children who dont know no better and you can all suck it!"....
Thats not what im saying at all.
I'm saying he deserves all that he's got, worked very hard to get it and is keeping WWE relevant. But in my opinion, he's just ok.
And that my friends, is all.

Not a long time ago I read here at WZ that CM Punk is at the top at merch sales.Last night at Vengeance Cena debuted a new attire. So do you think this is to let Cena go back as being N1 at merch sales or it was that time where a superstar just has to change his attire

That question presents the idea that WWE wants Cena to be number one in merchandise sales. The fact is, they couldn't care less who's number one as long as the company is making money. So there's that idea out of the window.

Now let's look at the real reason why Cena debuted a new attire: he changes his attire sometimes. About twice a year, to be exact. How many times has/will he change this year? Two times.

this is exactly what I was thinking last night when he came out for his match. Cena has been the #1 in merch sales because he changes his color & or sayings on his shirts/bands/hats 3 to 4 times a year. as I was thinking after his entrance last night. I bet 100 to 1 that he debuts a new color scheme/layout of his gear again at either the R.R. or E.C PPVs.

I think personally that the change is made regularly when the Cenashirts are on more than about 50 percent of a givin area they change it so that his sales don't drop

Well I do know people who are Cena fanatics and have his shirt in every colour he's released so far. Yeah, I know. Anyway, I think it could possibly be another move to sell Cena merchandise. I can guarantee that the people I know will buy it, and I'm sure thousands of other people will too. As for bringing Cena back to #1 though, I don't think it really matters. Most people aren't aware of the fact that Punk is now #1 anyway.

Like Superhero said Cena always debuts new merchandise at least twice a year. I doubt it has anything at all to do with the WWE wanting Cena to be top seller. Their going to make the same amount of money regardless of who is the top seller.

It its probably partially both reason. They probably saw CM Punk had high sales and realized Cena could probably use a new T.

I'm sure Cena is "super" happy to have a new shirt... because he knows changing the color and t-shirt design is :

1. Just as good as putting in the effort to keep one's persona captivating for the audience.

2. A substitute for putting in the work to learn new wrestling moves and style.

3. An ingenious way to disguise the fact that he has been stale and unchanged for over 7 years.

Cena was due for a new shirt. He usually gets another one every 6-9 months. He debuted the red one at WrestleMania, seven months before this one. Now let's stop over analyzing the merchandising department's standard procedure and using it as yet another way to complain about WWE holding down a guy who has been a major focus of Raw for months.

For the record, the shirt is awesome and may be the best shirt he's ever released.

For those who saw RAW yesterday (or today) mustve noticed Cena was no longer wearing his '1992' jean shorts and Red Shirt making him look like a 'transvestite wonder woman'....

Could that be leading to something or is it just so that Rock doesnt have anything about Cena's attire to criticize cuz hes made it well known that he hates the way Cena dresses (kayfabe or course)....

Or as someone posted elsewhere. Could it be the 'heel turn' fans clamor for day in and day out.

personally i hope its the former.... Cuz as much as I want Cena to turn heel 'at some point' Id rather rock and cena go in at Wrestlemania as faces.

You must have some glasses on that allows u to see some disturbing images if thats what u see. I don't see how a change of attire would mean that he was about to turn heel eitha? and I ain't that interested in him turning heel eitha. the 1st though would make more sense to allow it to remain how it is... friction in the team no matter how childish or immature is still friction and that makes interesting television.

who cares how he dresses? big deal, he just changed up his look a little. Hell, he'll probably go back to the jean shorts again. Besides, what's wrong with jean shorts? I wear jean shorts :(

anyway, I'm wondering though, is there a heel turn in the works for either Rock or Cena during their tag match against Awesome Truth? i can almost see it happening where Cena gets beat down, The Rock jumps in to make the save, Cena stumbles to his feet, The Rock turns around, bam, Rock Bottom, Awesome Truth run back in to make the cover and win the match, while The Rock is walking up the entry ramp. But it doesn't necessarily mean that The Rock would have turned heel. It'd be just a way to fuel the fire that is leading into their WM match. :)

I think it's what everything is...

for Survivor Series!

Not just that, but think... they are playing on this BIG. They want people buying the DVD that highlights the biggest event at Survivor Series, the first of many installments of WWE Greatest Rivalries: Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart

Cena is a big merch getter, so why not have new gear around this time?
Rock too, CM Punk and DX, watch it!

I expect new Taker merch as well.

On the specifics of his new attire, I love this. It's the best thing he's worn since he was truly The Dr. of Thuganomics

Black being the base color is refreshing and then subtle coloring of light colors on it

I actually want to get that shirt and hat... after my I Bring It shirt of course

I'm so glad he's done wearing the jorts. I was legitimately afraid for ADR at Vengeance when I saw Cena had a new shirt, a new hat, AND new shorts. New gear for Cena is like the sun to Superman. I thought he might actually kill ADR.

God knows how many threads ive read now about how people want John Cena to make a heel turn and be a villian.Cena is way better off being a cocky heel/Anti-hero.....heres what I mean.

John Cena has been the face of the company for the last few years now, I rekon that he should make a heel turn in which he starts taking that position for granted and starts becoming real cocky about the fact that hes the face of the company and basically starts doing whatever he wants whenever he wants and starts cutting promos telling the audience how honoured they should be because they are seeing him and cuts promos against other wrestlers saying that they should strive to be like him/ or he can tell them to give up and not bother cuz they will never be as great as he can.

This can go in sooooo many directions. The possibilities are potentially endless

1) He starts randomly attacking superstars both heel and face because he thinks theyre trying to take his place as the "Face of the company" or becuase he doesnt think they deserve to be in the WWE alongside him.

2)He also starts threatening referees into calling matches in his favour and begins attacking officials and employees and simply justifies his actions with the fact that because hes the face of the company he makes to much money for WWE so they cant risk firing him and therefore he can do whatever he wants.

3) If he does get fired by one person, hes rehired by another e.g hes fired by the G.M he gets rehired by COO. He gets fired by COO he gets rehired by CEO/Vince with the explanation that hes "too valuable an asset and firing him would hurt the company" or something along those lines

4) As a result John can start going as far as feuding with Vince cuz he knows Vince cant risk firing him or he starts kissing his ass to get himself ahead in the company and keep other wrestlers down (he can even say that hes been secretly doing that all along and that explains why certain talent are being burried e.g John Morrison, Daniel Bryan, Zak Ryder etc.) This would also be able to be applied to the current story of the whole "Conspiracy Theory" occuring in the WWE.

5) John wouldnt even need to win any championships to do this effectively, he can go as far as awarding himself his own title and carrying around his own special belt dedicated to himself and saying that he deserves it because hes above everyone else in the WWE

This allows John to be basically Incredibly cocky and smug about himself, he can be incredibly violent and evil when he needs to, he can be a whiny crybaby who complains alot about how hes not getting the respect that he deserves, but can also be a coward and a cheat if need be to get where he wants to.

I think this is better then the generic description that most people give in which they say "John cena should turn heel and be a villian and a bad guy and start rapping again." I think if WWE did something like this they could really come up with alot of things for Cena to do.

What do you all rekon???, Just an idea, Ill be happy as long as its not considered a Russo bad idea.

It goes along with WWE's anti-bullying campaign.

It's that simple. Nothing else. Any further analysis is just a waste of time.

Exactly.

I don't know why people are coming up with ideas because he's wearing a black shirt. If anything, he's even more a character for kids. The shirt said "Rise Above Hate" which is in line with the anti bullying campaign and makes him look like even more of a champion. And his shots are military shorts. That goes with his whole military/respect/salute thing he does.

0% chance of any foreshadowing here.

He doesnt look like a fruit pebble anymore.

A thread about threads, huh?

I like what he's wearing now much better; it makes him look stronger and tougher. The jeans shorts always made him look like a bodybuilder who, for some reason, wanted to come across as a teenager.

But with Cena's "Popeye" like physique (What bulgy arms?) featuring a trim waist and expanded upper body, the camouflage look just seems a better fit.

And his build is unique......I've never seen anything like it on anyone else. The make-up artists could smear him with shit and he'd still look great.:o

I called it Sunday night at Vengeance: Someone would come on here and create a thread about Cena's new outfit, hoping it was a sign of him turning heel soon. You guys are so predictable.... :disappointed:

Guys, come on... PLEASE stop thinking that all roads lead to Cena turning heel. I'm pretty sure that when and if it happens, there will be little foreshadowing because it is going to hit the pro-wrestling world like a 8.5 magnitude earthquake.

Anyway, like other posters have already said, Cena's new outfit goes along with the new "Rise Above Hate" campaign. They've also gone as far as to plant someone at ringside with a "We hate Cena" t-shirt to hammer home the "Rise Above Hate" initiative and the anti-bullying campaign. Plus, with Cena losing his spot as being one of the top merchandise sellers, the WWE figured that they needed to change things up with him in order to get their #1 guy back on top again.

There is a reason for the shorts!

To support our troops!
They are coming home soon, plus were going into the Tribute to the Troops soon.
Cena has always supported the troops and this is his newest way of doing it.
The letters on the shirt are Red White and Blue.

As for the shirt, its been around 6 months since he changed it, so it was about time.
He was running out of colors too, so he went with black, and the USA Red, white, and Blue letters.
He used orange, purple, red, green, and a few others.

Overreaction at its finest. No, he's not turning heel.

But, I like it. I actually dig the new shirt, and the shorts. Anything beats jean shorts. I understand it's a very small thing to some, but the jean shorts are seriously a solid 10% of why I hate the guy. He just jumped a few notches in my book. When the jorts return, he'll drop back down, no doubt about it.

The jean shorts never bothered me really but I really did dig the new attire Cena wore at Vengeance. I also really like the shirt and am actually strongly considering buying it. It ties in with WWE's anti-bullying campaign and it's black and quite frankly, black is my favorite color to wear. ;)

That said, I have absolutely no idea where this asinine logic that new attire will lead to a Cena heel turn is coming from. I mean, seriously?

The funny thing about it is that he's had plenty of black shirts before.

Hmm, interesting. Three black Cena shirts that I remembered right off the top of my head. Funnily enough, he was a face while wearing all three. Somehow I don't think wearing a black shirt necessarily signals a heel turn. But then again, people are desperate for it and will cling onto whatever makes them feel better about the possibility of it happening, so I shouldn't be surprised.

I think it's rather sad..the haters cling to anything and everything. They so desperately want some change from Cena, be it a heel turn or character change. Can't really blame them for hoping he will turn... Cena is just that stale and boring not even a new shirt is gonna change that.

So now he's got a new shirt. The good news is the color scheme is not brutal like the last couple ones. The bad news is this means the heel turn many of us are praying for won't come anytime soon. Also there is the message on the shirt: "Rise above hate." Oh SHEEEEEESH!

What's next? Training Payers Vitamins? Love thy Neighbor? Give Peace a chance? Say no to drugs? Don't be a bully, be a star? Tobacco is whacko? Safe the planet?

I'm sick of his... his GOODNESS! It makes me gag. Soon he'll start kissing babies in the crowd. Or have make-a-wish-children accompany him down to ringside.

Thing is Cena CAN have an edge. Sometimes he can make you forget that he is the perfect corporate sellout champion. He has shown it in the past. But not in a long time. He's gotten so stale it's become painful.

What Nick said a few posts up, I like that shirt. It's also got the "Be A Star" logo on the arm of it. But, the colourful T-Shirts that Cena has? I hate them. They're too much for me. When he keeps it simple, there's a message being sent out, I like it. Stop thinking there's a message from everything Cena does. Next Monday on Raw, have him come out, choke Michael Cole with a rope, then tell everyone he loves them. That'll turn him heel! No, just leave him be. The shirt is cool, that is that.
