WWE RAW LD 12/5/2012 - I'm a Little Bit Country

I figured it was either all your life or surprisingly late in your life that you started. Two is pretty crazy to already be hooked though.

It was sometime around there. I know for a fact that I had the tape of Summerslam 90 and that I watched Starrcade 1991 the night it aired. I remember being at a house show when Andre the Giant had a broken leg which was in 1991. I was born in February of of 88 so it was probably somewhere around late 90/early 91.

Here's what I gathered from the concerts:

John Cena the Rapper >> The Rock the singer/guitarist.

John Cena said the same amount of things Rock said and said similar things, but had 2/23rds the time (the aforementioned 2 minutes for Cena, 15 for Rock).

And WWE needs to learn how to highlite the words in time when making a karaoke track. Rock couldn't read them either, but from what I saw the words were not well-highlited.

I have run a teleprompter several times, and yes, whoever did so tonight wasn't very good. Rock made it worse, though.

Yeah, Rock was absolutely horrible tonight. Cena was given just a fraction of the time Rock got but clearly beat him. Rock throwing in random "Cleveland rocks!" to get a cheap pop made me embarrassed for him. He's turned into a goody-goody that appeals to the kiddies. Once again, Cena>Rock.

I love the dichotomy of thought this feud has created. When watching, I knew I'd come home to read about who "won". It's actually awesome as I've never seen people this passionate about anything wrestling in a while.

That said, I thought it was pretty even tonight. Really liked Cena's part and his lines definitely got "o's" from the crowd, but Rock definitely entertained. It was predictable, but I'm not one to fault predictable if it's better than a lot of his recent schtick has been. Didn't follow why Cena cheating is bad but Rock nailing Cena's dad who is married is good though. I guess cheating is ok when it involves Rock?

Anyway, it's getting fun. Can't wait til April 21st.

This gimmick would still work in 2012, even after all these years. Was a surreal moment to see the John Cena I became a fan of all those years ago.

I hated both Cena's rap and the Rock's concert last night. Compared to the promos they had been delivering, both of them sounded ridiculously lame. Had the Rock's singing been given the same amount of time that Cena got, maybe I would feel differently...but it was just so damned repetitive, it got extremely boring. If he had kept it short, he also might not have needed to read the lyrics either. (Isn't having to read from his notes one of Cena's best criticisms of the Rock, since it shows he can't think on his feet anymore? Why give him more ammo?). But, Rock just kept doing verse after verse of the exact same shit. Grew tired of it very quickly.

But, Cena's "rap" really wasn't much better. Obviously I am a member of team Cenation in this feud, but compared to his previous stuff when he was the master of thuganomics or whatever, this rap was a huge letdown as well. It just wasn't as good as some of his previous efforts. Overall I do think Cena has been crushing Rock in the promo wars, but I want to give both of them a C- for last night's efforts. Each was mildly entertaining, but that's about it.

Yes, Rock. We understand that you have an overtly shallow perspective on what it means to be a male. You don't need to incorporate it into each of the songs.

The reason Rock got all that time was he was putting both Cena and himself over, something Cena isn't over enough to do. The end of that segment was supposed to be bad, probably not as bad as it turned out though. Stormtrooper needs remedial fractions.

This is what the Rock said during his shitty singing:
-John Cena's wife should get a divorce
-I slept with John Cena's mom
-John Cena is gay
-John Cena fans are virgins

How in the hell is that putting John Cena over? Nothing he said makes John Cena even remotely close to a threat to The Rock. Hell, Rock has never once put Cena over. Everything is about his appearance and his personality. I don't recall Rock ever saying anything about how the guy is at least a good wrestler.

And yes, this week, Cena said similar things, ripping The Rock, and he did it all in 3 minutes.

Yeah, I did totally fuck up the fractions, no doubt. It happens. It was late and I wasn't thinking. If you include entrances, Cena had 4 minutes, and Rock had 20 minutes. Cena had 1/5th the time, and did the exact same thing. Hence, Cena>>>Rock.

I mean, it's just lazy mic work. The only reason any of it gets over is because it's coming out of the Rock's mouth. Just think how many people would care if Kofi Kingston said that Cena has no balls or was the love child of a Teletubby? Nobody would.

There's no way that the last segment from The Rock was supposed to be bad. The whole lines on the wrist and screwing up at the end a couple weeks ago to help Cena. I will give people that one just to be nice, but Rock just fucked up at the end last night. No excuses.

So it was a coincidence that they cut to a shot of the Rock reading the song off the jumbotron? Karaoke is supposed to be "bad." The Rock put Cena over by playing up the criticisms Cena has had against him. He also went out of his way to antagonize Cena fans. That puts Cena over as well.

The words were put on the titantron so that the whole crowd could sing. That's what The Rock said. He wanted the last song to be sung by everyone. However, Rock himself didn't have a clue what the words were and it sucked. It wasn't supposed to suck. There wasn't a script in the back that said "do last song but make sure it sucks." It just plain sucked because it was a bad idea and it was performed even worse.

It was a bad idea to think that the idiots and children in the audience could read off the Titantron to a fast paced thirty year old song with altered lyrics. The only thing that would be worse would be to have Jericho trying to get the crowd to sing a parody of the "End of the World As We Know It" by REM.

This is why we stick to catch phrases.
