Big Show must be hurt or something as this seems so random and out of no where.
Del Rio wins the world title.. Wow. I don't understand this move.
It's to set up Dolph cashing in at some point in the near future. Show's a heel... and a fucking giant so he wasn't going to get cashed in on. Del Rio, on the other hand is a face who's probably getting KO punched in the very near future making him perfect for a cash in.
MIAMI — With the crowning of a new World Heavyweight Champion, the Jan. 8, 2013, episode of SmackDown cemented its place in blue brand history just one week before its landmark 700th episode.
On the same night The Rock made his eagerly anticipated return to Friday night’s best show, Alberto Del Rio seized the spotlight and defeated Big Show in a Last Man Standing Match to claim the World Heavyweight Championship.
The Mexican Aristocrat heroically battled The World’s Largest Athlete in an absolutely brutal showdown, literally taking The World’s Largest Athlete to his limit en route to an historic victory.
Del Rio’s title triumph stands as his first World Heavyweight Championship and his third World Title overall. His victory also shows, once again, that anything can happen on SmackDown at any time!
See how it t went down and witness the return of The Rock to the blue brand, this Friday at 8/7 CT only on SmackDown on Syfy.
You mean like Daniel Bryan did?
Granted, but I don't recall Big Show at the time being in the midst of a "I R UNSTOPPABLE GIANT!" push at the time. It also doesn't change the fact that a heel cashing in on a heel is stupid.
To be fair the MITB system in general is long past stupid in general.
It's not the MITB issue that makes it stupid. It's simply stupid story telling for Dolph to cash in on Show or any other heel.
It's stupid storytelling to have Dolph lose time after time then cash in a magic briefcase and be recognized as the best in the world.
