The {Original} Wrestlezone Tournament

I actually think its a pretty cool concept. Granted WCW was on life support at Slamboree 00. Plus it was Jeff Jarret DDP and the greatest WCW Champion of all time David Arquette in the worst cross promotion event since Robocop and Sting.

The original tower of dooms in WCW/NWA was a team design, but it went the opposite way. I think it was 2 teams of 4, and they would have a ladder to the top of the cage, and they would enter threw the top and have to fight their way to the bottom and out of the cage. I'm sure there's vids on youtube, they're pretty sweet. I'm guessing this was taken out for the wargames cage though, which the WWE should also bring that back.

I'm not going to continue this argument. Agree to disagree. You're entitled to your opinion as am I. I apologize for the personal attacks in the previous posts. I let my temper get the best of me.

WCW did one on i believe Nitro where it was Goldberg vs. Nash vs. Scott Steiner vs. Booker T vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Kronik vs. Vince Russo.....i believe in my memory serves me right that Nash won it.

And teh fact that it featured Goldberg, Kronick and Russo explains why it has remaied so mebedded in everyones mind. That was a memeory most were trying to repress. It seems to me that everytime WCW tried to up the cage match it was laugable. We had the one you mentioned, the three tiers with Arquette and the Hogan and Savage against a bunch of no talent over the hill wrestlers that made me want to watch the King of the Road match again:shooter:

Michigan, are you sure the Hogan and Savage match was the same thing? I always remembered it as being something a lot more extravagant than a Tower of Doom (as weird as that sounds, lol).

when last i checked it was over 65 votes for it. should be a pretty good number by tonihgt.

Prax, i think it was a tower of doom match, but i think that the dungeon of doom people were scattered throughout the cage instead of two men entering at the same time. That was always the problem with WCW, they had some cool concepts for matches, but never put the right people in them to pull it off.

Um so I got an infraction for spamming and the thread they showed me that I supposedly spammed all I said was HBK all the way. Can someone explain to me how that is spamming?

i believe i remember reading earlier, that if the message you post doesn't have a decent amount of content, that it is viewed as spaming....does this make sense? no, at least not to me

That makes no sense at all. My post was on topic, it's not like I was trying to write something that didn't apply at all. What a load of crap. If that's how it is here...after this tourney is over...I'm gone. I don't stick around to places where the rules don't make sense. All I need is the main wrestlezone page anyway for my news.

i'm not sure on that, but i seem to remember hearing that. Some one who wasn't a moderator, but a poster, warned about that possibility

Well they need to change that. They should review what was said and then decide if it's really spam. The question was who was better, Bret Hart or HBK and I said who I thought was better. I don't like being accused of being a spammer. I hate spammers with a passion. As long as I don't get banned, I'll be around for any tourneys that Shadowmaster has.

thank you overnight celeb for that side note, but sticking to the topic, you dirty spammer you, that triple cage match is ridiculous... Too bad WWE would never incorporate it no way no how... McMahon doesn't have enough brain matter to realize that it could be a life saver for a crumbling RAW or Smackdown show... Who all is involved in this Tower of Doom match anyways for this tourney anyways???

Nevermind I found 'em and I really hope The Rock wins that... Can you imagine The Rock, In his prime, in a match like that??? Sure Ric Flair is a legend for his dirty moves and what not, but the most electrifying man in sports entertainment would have for sure laid the smack-eth down in that match... I really wish that McMahon would have made that money in the bank match a Tower of Doom match cause that would be mind blowing... The hardys and edge and all of those guys= simply ridiculous if you smell what I'm cookin'...

Overnite, the reason they did it is just because it was a sentance. Think of it as a high school language arts or social studies test. The question is, who was the first president of the united states? The answer is George Washington, but you'll get it wrong if you only write GW. You have to right the answer and reasoning behind it.

It's probably not that big of a deal, more of a warning. You can always take it over ot the prison forum and make you're arguement. It's just a way to keep people honest. A lot of people just post so they can get there post count up high. Don't worry about it too much.

Here we go with results from the Regional Semi-Finals.

WCW Region. The Georgiadome.
The Rock took a big lead, and I mean a big enough lead to where I had it called in my mind. The Rock shows his athleticism in the big cage, as he batters Ric Flair like a rag doll. The Rock also utilized his experience in ladder matches by getting into the second cage first. Flair gets a second win as he is locked into the second cage laced with weapons, and both men get busted open. The Rock makes it into the third cage and makes his way to the door. Finally The Rock makes it 42 feet into the air and reaches for the briefcase, when the dirtiest player in the game nails him with the lowblow and sends the Rock falling to the top of the 1st cage. Flair reaches up and grabs his ticket to Detroit. Ric Flair moves on with 52% of the vote.

Match 2: The Hour.
Brock starts off strong by taking down Stone Cold. The match goes back and forth with Brock getting himself DQ'd to take down Austin. Finally the rattlesnake snaps and goes into his WM17 self by viscously beating Brock with a steal chair. Austin dominates the latter half and takes down the Next Big Thing. Steve Austin wins with an impressive 82% of the vote.

TNA Region
Rick Rude gets escorted from his match with booker t, into a room with no light, no food and no water. The Big Show didn't have to work as hard in his match against Double J, plus he went first and had a chance to replenish himself. The Big Show with the luck of the draw, just dominates Rick Rude and advances with 82% of the vote.

Match 4: Ultimate X
Triple H puts a hurting on Eddie Guerrero early and often in this matchup. Guerrero does what he has in this tournament, and thats coming back against a man that was a lot bigger then him. The match goes back and forth, but Guerrero nails Triple H with his sledge hammer and scampers across the ropes to grab the prize. In a match that stuns me, Triple H is eliminated and Eddie Guerrero advances with 59%.

WWE Region
Match 5: Hell in the Cell
AJ styles nearly lucks out in getting 3 ladder matches in a row, but the coinflip ends up locking him into a cell with the madman Terry Funk. Funk takes it to the young wrestler and makes him pay his dues. Terry Funk takes down the Phenomenal One with 66% of the vote.

Match 6: TLC
Bret Hart has been a thorn in the Undertaker's side for many years. As dominating a run Taker has had in WWE, Hart is one of the few he can't beat. Hart locks a painful submission on the deadman on top of the ladder and knocks the deadman off, but not before Taker grabs Harts leg and brings him down. Hart finally gets back to the top of the ladder, only to have the cold hand of death wrap around his throat and chokeslam him threw a table. That same hand grabs the Briefcase, and the Undertaker finally gets the Hart monkey off his back. Taker advances with 61% of the vote.

ECW Region
A master of the mind against a man that is a monster. Kane vs. Raven. Kane makes Raven taste his own blood by tossing him into the Barbed wire, early and often. Raven eventually nails a reversal on the Big Red Machine, tearing into his outfit. With this chink in the armor, Raven goes to work by tearing the clothing off of Kane. The match continues, but finally, Raven nails a DDT onto a roll of Barb Wire to take down Kane. Raven moves on with 57% of the vote.

Match 8. 3 stages of hell.
In order for HBK to advance, he only needs to win 7 matches in 3 nights. The only thing standing in his way, is a pissed off Human Suplex Machine Taz, inside of the ECW Arena. The crowd is solidly behind Taz in the beginning of this matchup. Finally HBK is able to nail sweet chin music, and take a 1-0 lead over Taz. HBK wins round 1 with 88% of the vote.
Match 2 starts off with HBK struggling to get to his feet after expending so much energy to take Taz down. The effects of his matches is wearing on him. Taz makes it to his feet, and right away Michaels backs into a pissed off Taz who locks the Tazmission on him and chokes HBK out. Taz dominates the submission match with 86% of the vote.
Taz has a huge advantage with Michaels knocked out in the middle of the ring. 12 feet is all the separates Taz from the finals. HBK pulls himself back up and this match is back on. Finally at the end, HBK manages to knock Taz off of the ladder, and HBK grabs the briefcase against all of the odds to make it. HBK wins the laddermatch with 89% of the vote.

So these are the final 8 men set to start in Detroit.
WCW Finals:
The Nature Boy Ric Flair vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin

TNA Finals:
The Big Show vs. Latino Heat Eddie Guerrero

WWE Finals:
The Hardcore Legend Terry Funk vs. The Undertaker

ECW Finals:
Raven vs. the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels.

So tomorrow we start the final phase of this thing. Hope everyone is ready for it. No Triple H, No Sting, No Hulk Hogan, No Rock, the People have spoken.

Wow...all i have to say is wow...4 of the top guys, and not to mention bret hart...all gone...now who does the crowd get behind?

Who would have thought Raven, Eddie, Big Show and Funk would make the elite 8 while men like Bret, HHH, Savage, Sting and Gillberg would not. Forget the NCAA and its George Masons, Gonzagas, Souther Illinois and USC's this is the real MARCH MADNESS

First off it's half and my heels are down by nine. I hope that depth kicks in.
Overnight, I had the same spam alert about a month ago it is total bull!! Funny how I can't respond to it to the moderator.
On to the results and matches.I am pleasantly surprised that the Funker made it to the elite 8. In another story of bull Raven? Come on people he doesn't belond in the top 32 but the votes were cast and I'll live with it.
I am a huge Flair fan, so I'm a little bias, but I have voted by the stips and not with my heart(Steamboat/Show a classic example). I was worried that the # of younger people voting would turn this into a popularity contest and not follow the guidelines set, I'm glad to see that hasn't happen. When this touranment started, I had two things that I said would probably see me out of here,if Hogan advanced further than Flair or if Flair was beat by someone not even close to his league. However I could settle with Flair losing to any of these four. HHH,HBK,U.taker, or Austin. I do not think HHH/Austin are in his league yet, HHH is working toward it.
Match #1 Flair/Austin I see this as a pretty good match, I just hope once again everyone looks at the career of Flair as opposed to Austin(who I thoroughly like). Flair from 82-90 beats anyone in an 8 year period, with the only close one being HBK in the 90's. FLAIR WINS THIS ONE!
Match #2 Show will be to much for Guerro, RIP!
Match #3 Funk vs Taker It has been a great run for the Funker, but he is going on his last ride(literally).
Match #4 HBk superkicks Raven back home where he belongs!
Potential semi's!
Flair vs Show Shows' first big win was against a 95 Flair, well 80's Flair takes Show down, not to mention Show will be worn out from his match with Guerro
U.Taker vs HBK, Once more stamina comes in to play and after a grueling match HBK advances.
Final Match
Once again I'm a Flair man, and if they fought ten times it would probably go 5 and 5. Flair has a much quicker second match whereas Michaels had his limit tested against Taker, Flair is the 60 minute man, and at about the forty minute mark Flair gets the clip, works over the leg and it's figure four for the championship! I've been real busy with Coach Duties & Touranment, so I hope ya'll understand the long post, lately all I have done is vote. Take Care All!

I know, I can't believe that Gillberg was elimanted and so early, it was bad luck draw in the stips...how did he have a chance against Essa Rios in a regular wrestling match? If that doesn't tell us Ol' Shocky is rigging this, I don't know what does?

roflmao.

I just want some of you guys to remember that this tournament doesn't decide who we think is the "best" wrestler, just the best wrestler in the stipulated match up. I say, next year, we do it with no stips, and have the ultimate wrestler tournament.

Thank god Eddie beat Triple H, I'm a huge Hunter fan, but Eddie was an f'n wrestling god.

IT'S GETTIN REAL DEEP DOWN AND DIRTY NOW!

I'm doing it right here, right now, I'm predicting that Shawn Michaels will win this bad boy, and deservedly so.
