Daggers & Dragons: Ask me stuff

I couldn't even tell you what the story was about, the only thing I remember is that it was a good game. I think I have Mana, Evermore and Albert's Odyssey all mixed together in my brain. A O I remember being really funny.

Super Nintendo I only owned maybe 8 games but rented games all the time. Probably why I never saw the ends of those games because they were rented.

Mana was the boy, the girl, and the sprite. Evermore was a boy and his dog. Never played Albert's Odyssey.

I hated renting games as a kid. You always had to bring them back. It's amazing how ground-breaking memory cards truly were when they first became a thing for console gaming.

I've been playing fallout 4, bloodborne and final fantasy 7 on my ps4 lately....really waiting till Madden in Aug lol

Is Fallout 4 better than 3 or New Vegas? Never heard of Bloodborne, what's that like?

You could move away from D&D entirely and enter an alternative realm of “fantasy” which opens up a new world, even if it’s just for a cycle. But it’s currently very on-the-nose, Shawn comes off as more than a bit dumb.

What kinds of other fantasy worlds did you have in mind? Also, Theron is not intended to come off as having a below average intelligence. Tiffany is much smarter than him, but she was a straight A's genius. How would you have written Theron differently?

Two sentences beginning with For plus a strange construction and arrangement of sentences. I can see past the Theronisms but I can’t help but feel that you have been regurgitating this paragraph from pretty much every promo. The names feel very interchangeable. That should be addressed as a priority.

Uncalled For is actually the full Theronism for Unscripted. I really never intend for any promo to sound the same but more than one person has said this, so what would be a better way to approach it? It gets difficult to find different ways each round to say "I am going to win".

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll reply fully when I get to a PC later. But the most obvious world would be Zelda. His Warblade becomes the Master Sword etc. That wouldn't be as much as a stretch as something based on an FF world or even Pokemon (my idea for an All Stars character is a Pokémon trainer but inspired by how you deal with Theron

Any world you choose may not have the depth of D&D and you've got to be careful not to spend too long in it.

Ok cool, let me know. Lee had an idea like that for me earlier, and I like the sound of where that could go. I have something planned but going off in a Zelda or even Pokemon direction could work within that same idea for a bit.

I wanted to address this bit because the first part was covered already. I realised that I was reading the paragraph that I highlighted incorrectly.
Theron: Exactly! When I defeated her at Treasure Hunt it catapulted me to greatness. It will happen again at Elevation 108. I have to be ready for ANY possible opponent at Uncalled For when I issue my 20-Sided Challenge. If I can defeat Ella Teague who just beat Michelangelo Tempest, the current World Gladiatorial Heavyweight Champion, then I can enter Uncalled For with full confidence knowing I can win against any gladiator.
I was seeing imaginary full stops. But here's how I would have approached this paragraph as an example.
Exactly! My victory at Treasure Hunt was the start of a great quest for us both which ultimately ended with my first World Gladiatorial Heavyweight Championship. Now Ella Teague has the same dream. She has just beaten Michelangelo Tempest, the current champion of all gladiators. There's is no warrior with greater Luck than she has right now. But I just feel like I need to land one Critical Hit and my Luck will improve as well. That would be the best way to approach my 20 Sided Open Challenge at Uncalled For.
Now I definitely think that you could mix this up. I've not read much of your stuff so for me to pick this up as repetitive would be a concern but there are so many ways to say I'm going to win that I think it's just case of reading other RPs or getting inspiration from other sources. You can use your world to your advantage to make it sound like you're not just saying that.

But yes I think trying to take Theron out of the D&D world would be interesting. Zelda has enough lore to make it intriguing but I think the advantage you had with D&D was that you were the expert. You may not be able to say that if you tweak your gimmick in this direction.

to answer your question yes it originally started out as a Conan O'Brian tribute. then about halfway he morphed into a Simon Cowell/Conan love child or something.

as for the AOL handle I just wanted to show his age. He would have gotten his email address back when AOL was a thing and he wouldn't have changed it.

as for the typos I will try holding it back for the PPV and see how that goes.

That may have been the result of me trying to bring in as much of the actual wrestling side of it as I could, having it be less about quests and treasures. People had problems before when I would go "too far into fantasy" in some past RP's. Transitioning to another world for a cycle may help, this is as good as time as any to try if I do it.

No, there's at least one active member of the fed and probably a couple of others who know more about Zelda than I do. I've played nearly every game in the main series though, and for more than half of the titles I've played them multiple times through. So, I wouldn't consider myself the expert on the series around here but I'd venture to guess that I know more about it than most here do. The transition to a Zelda world may also be even easier than I first expected.... Stay tuned. ;)

Personally, I'm not well versed in the D&D games so I read your RPs like its in a Legend of Zelda setting already.

I'll take that as a compliment. There's been so many beautiful settings in Zelda games so for my RP's to generate that imagery for you (or anyone else) is good.

Didn't really see any Simon similarities, but I saw lots of Conan.

That might be for the best.... ;)

Thanks for the feedback. It really has given me an idea on how to refine my Unscripted RP. I have an idea sorted out for my title match but hadn't started writing it yet and your feedback probably will have an impact in my writing. Hopefully I can win.

When did this happen, and when is the release? My last was Toon Link fairly recently. Still need to post some pictures of my newcomers. I ordered the Mario 8 bit stand for them, although it may end up going to my Sailor Moon Pop figures instead if they fit on the tiers since the Amiibos currently live in two carrying cases (a Smash Bros one and a "?" block themed one).

Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, and Tuxedo Mask Pop figures arrived last night. Still waiting on Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and the Classic Mario 8 Bit Amiibo Stand. Pictures coming once all are present.

Was announced 5 minutes before I posted it here. Due out in November.

Mars and Jupiter are here. Figures my favorite (Venus) would take the longest to arrive.... :p The Amiibo Stand hasn't gotten here yet either though, so she'll probably beat that.

And now Venus is here. The pops all beat the Amiibo Stand.

On another note I was feeling nostalgic last night and tried to 3 Hour Challenge in Super Metroid on the SNES for the first time in years. Got to Maridia and then died in the highly frustrating underwater sand area.

You will not see me critique this at all. I know generally the opinions on the game had been critical, but I work as a video game designer myself, and I know of your work with Division Blade. Where did you first come up with the idea for it?

I always wanted to make my own RPG game. Ever since back I was a kid. The oldest concepts come from back when I was in the 2nd and 3rd grade. As the years went on the idea(s) expanded all into one massive game. The central idea of Kay being divided into two separate entities that are equal other than Holy/Evil alignment came around 2000 or so. My 14 year old self wondered what it would have been like if there were two of the same person, where each grew up in two different places, only one was good and one was evil. Like in Chrono Cross but the Good Arbiter and Evil Arbiter existed in the same dimensional plane. The thing is though, this idea came to me one year before I even played Chrono Cross, so while Chrono Cross is not the 100% point of origin for the game's central concept it did help me refine it.

I've been saying for quite a while now that I want to cut a ton of material from that game, keep true to the story I originally came up with, and resurrect the idea. It's still a life goal of mine, I ended up shelving said goal when adult life and other things became more of a priority. If I had the time, the finances, and a development team then I'd overhaul it and try again.

Have you ever tried RPG Maker game? I can't remember what system it was on, PS1 or SNES .... might be PS1=
Anyway, it was cool, it gave you all the tools , you made your own towns, dungeons, bosses, heroes, story, monsters, treasures, everything.
