I think with the exception of New York City, you aren't going to see any other outdoor Wrestlemania's outside of being held in Florida. The New York Mania is simply to stroke McMahon's ego with setting the largest crowd mark before the Superbowl gets played there. If this is a success, you might see the WWE move Wrestlemania from a late March/Early April event to a mid to late April Event. The WWE loves to be in the northeast, but the weather doesn't allow it unless it's moved to a later date.
I know it's an unpopular thing to say, but there will never be a European Wrestlemania. The WWE isn't going to show a Wrestlemania on tape delay, or at 3 in the afternoon on the east coast live. It simply won't happen. The international buyrate would have to balloon to incredible numbers over the next years for the E to ever think anything like that.
Indianapolis should host a Wrestlemania. As Ricky said, it hosted the best Super Bowl week ever (according to many), there's no reason they wouldn't go all out. The problem with Indy is its affiliation with the NCAA and March Madness. Scheduling would be a huge issue. Most years Indy is affiliated with the tournament either as a Regional host or a Championship host. If the WWE is going away from Arenas for Mania, then unfortunately Chicago will never see a Mania again. Indianapolis is close enough to draw a big crowd from Chicago and provide a good atmosphere.
So pretty much, if you don't have a dome, or live in Florida, you're screwed for hosting a Mania. Here's a list of Domes/Stadiums already used for Mania that still exist.
1. Skydome, Toronto.
2. Reliant Stadium, Houston.
3. Ford Field, Detroit.
4. The Citrus Bowl, Orlando.
5. Phoenix Stadium, Phoenix.
6. Georgia Dome, Atlanta
7. Sun Life Stadium, Miami
8. Met Life Stadium, New York
So here's a list of Domes/Stadiums I think you'll see.
1. Cowboys Stadium. The WWE would absolutely love to have a Wrestlemania in Jerry world. The problem, could the WWE create a card compelling enough to fill this behemoth? This venue is designed to hold at least 110,000 people.
2. Lucas Oil Stadium: With a capacity of 70,000 and a city that has already hosted a Wrestlemania, this should be ideal. Indianapolis can draw crowds from a huge region. I think you'll see this replace Chicago's spot on the Wrestlemania schedule.
3. Superdome, New Orleans. A capacity near 73,000, and a party town. Wrestlemania week is becoming almost as big of an event as the show itself. New Orleans is a destination city to say the least.
4. Proposed, Farmers Field or Los Angeles Stadium, Los Angeles. There's no doubt the WWE wants a presence in the 2nd largest market. With not one, but two proposed venues being built with capacities near 80,000, there is no doubt the WWE will have a Mania at one of these venues. Farmers Field has the benefit of being a domed stadium in downtown Los Angeles. This whole thing could be a mess.
2nd Tier Domes that deserve a look.
1. Humphrey Dome, St. Louis. St. Louis is about as centrally located as it gets in the country. Also, St. Louis is a hot wrestling town. A Mania hear would also draw from Chicago easily.
2. BC Dome, Vancouver. Wrestlemania worked great in Seattle, but Conseco field is probably too small by today's Mania standard, and no way possible Qwest field would get a Mania with the weather in Seattle.
3. Olympic Stadium, Montreal. I know people want Toronto to get another Mania, but why not try Montreal? Montreal has had some of the hottest crowds I can ever recall watching wrestling. Fantastic wrestling city. The problem, Montreal isn't exactly a destination city and the language barrier could be problematic.
Lastly, domes that don't stand a chance.
1. Metrodome, Minnesota. The roof caved in. Unless Minnesota goes and builds their new proposed stadium, it'll never happen.
2. Alamodome, San Antonio. If Shawn Michaels was still active, then maybe. If the WWE is using Reliant and Cowboy stadium, a third venue in Texas doesn't make the best sense business exposure wise.
3. Any Baseball Stadium/Dome smaller then 60,000. Just not going to happen.
