WWE Survivor Series 2011 – SmackDown's Laid, Truth's Free and WZ'ers to Invade

The last move in the sequence was the People's Elbow on both accounts. Sure Hogan took more of a beating before that, but it's Hulk Hogan. The man very rarely lost clean ever. Miz...well he does it on a regular basis.
But what I'm saying is that nobody ever thinks of the Peoples Elbow as the finishing move. In the Hogan match, it was the 3 Rock Bottoms. Peoples Elbow was the move that he would use to start his comeback (he'd hit the Spinebuster unexpectedly, do the PE, then the guy kicks out at 2).

I don't recall ever seeing Rock win a match with a lateral press without using the Rock Bottom on the opponent. Either a Rock Bottom or a Rollup of sorts.

Very good show. Top to bottom, there wasn't a disappointing moment.

I don't get the complaints about the main event, because it was only meant to be the appetiser to WrestleMania's main course. The closing minutes felt like hours until the Rock Bottom, which was the right way to go. Like Cole said, it's the beginning of a new, more physical chapter in their rivalry.

Pretty pleased with the event. Thought the opening was beyond solid, glad to see Team Barrett got the win over Team Orton, Cody Rhodes has once again rose in my eyes after tonight also. The Rock had me on the edge of my seat when he made his entrance tonight and the fans showed him great respect which I loved, while Cena got basically booed like he were cancer.

What I find interesting is, chances are 70,000 people are going to boo John Cena at Wrestlemania. I know we knew that already, but just think about it. That was 17,000 and they were loud enough, imagine 70,000 chanting "You can't wrestle!"

Nice to see Cena do a monkey-flip. Think I've seen him do one before but it was a good long time ago.

Good stuff, good Pay-Per-View.

Keep this in mind; Wrestlemania is being held in an outside stadium, no? Sunlife Stadium? I don't think it's going to come off nearly that loud on television as it would here. Bigger stadium, outside, that whole deal.

Very satisfying pay per view. Though now I shudder to think next Monday, we start the Nash-Trips saga.

Solid enough. Though they should really just lock Del Rio in a jar and stash him on a shelf at Titan Towers next to Kane and Lita's miscarried fetus.

Could have been better.

Only complaint I got is that I wasn't a fan of the end to Henry-Show. I get they're hinting at Henry dropping the title soon, but felt that the dq ending really doesn't do much for Henry. Otherwise, Punk's finally back with the title, I'm hoping that this whole Cena- Awesome Truth thing is finally over, and pretty good ending to shape up for Wrestlemania.

Fuck, you people whinge a lot.

Firstly they are putting over the People's Elbow because its a move that the little kids can relate to.

Secondly, they are putting over the P.E. to show how tough it is (think Stunner). Remember, they are reintroducing The Rock to a whole new group of people.

Thirdly, this will put over Cena when he kicks out of two People's Elbow's at WrestleMania.

A lot of people are complaining, so what? Be grateful you at least got a match mid-season with the Rock. He didn't have to come back at all, he did. He didn't have to Wrestle a match at Survivor Series, he did. He doesn't have to appear on Raw until close to Mania, he did. He didn't have to wrestle a guy who is considered the future of the company (Miz) and a man who is only getting on a slight role at the very end of his career and can only be considered an Upper Mid-card on a good day at best. He did.

How about you enjoy it. The crowd seemed to.

The match begins, and the Rock comes out last. How often do you see that happen? Almost never. But that's OK, it's just Cena being the better man and giving the Rock his time in the spotlight after all these years.

Throughout the match, the fans cheer Rock and boo Cena, as per usual. Nothing new there. Cena graciously laughs it off and lets it go.

The match ends with the Rock doing the pinning of the opponent. Cena stays out of the ring and applauds the Rock, again giving him his well deserved moment, respectfully.

So what happens? The Rock calls him back into the ring and taunts him. Shows him up in front of the entire arena. Twice. Makes a point of pointing out to him that the crowd is cheering him and booing Cena. Mocking him. Disrespectfully. Then he gives him the Rock Bottom, again showing a lack of respect. Cena, the face of the company, slinks off like a wounded animal, glaring back at the Rock as he leaves. Muttering under his breath.

Am I and the man from Utah the only ones who see where this is heading, how the slow burn is building, and where it is going to boil over and how?

I considered that, but with the amount of people that are there it won't come across as loud on television but chances are It'll come across louder than tonight and tonight was pretty fucking loud. Plus, Rock's hometown and all that jazz.

I don't know, just something I was thinking about during the match.

I saw the anger building before and after the Rock Bottom. I still have no faith that they'll pull the trigger. Perfect set-up though. Cena's dad last Monday is also going to add to a great video package.

Eh.... I see where this is going. Though, in all fairness, Cena is the one to start this feud. This was all started because of some choice words Cena had for the Rock in, what, '07, or something? This isn't like Rock has no reason to be angry with Cena... If Rock was just doing this to merely show up Cena, then perhaps I'd agree fully.

See, I still think they will pull the trigger. After a plethora of threads touting the oft discussed John Cena heel turn, it's the perfect set up. It can be executed slowly and brilliantly. "After all I've done for you people over the last 7-8 years, you still boo me and cheer him, after he sold out (heel kayfabe) and went to Hollywood making shitty movies. And even after I showed him so much respect, he dared to embarrass me like that, while you still cheered him and booed me. If you're going to boo me like that, to hell with you all, I'll give you a reason to boo me". Something to that effect, happening gradually over the next few months, until he reaches his breaking point in Miami.

To hell with t-shirts and merchandise sales. That can and will draw like a son of a bitch. And the alleged loss of revenue will more than be offset by improved ratings, greater attendance, and more PPV sales. If it doesn't happen now, it never will.

How about I have a forebrain large enough to develop intelligent criticism of the entertainment that I view, rather than mindlessly loving everything like some sort of ape?

Go easy on him. Sometimes the latter is easier.

The Rock came from a time where a bulldog could KO someone for a minute while a small guy breakdanced and then hit a fist drop for the win. Therefore, a Spinebuster followed by the P.E. is OK in my books.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Lets look at the psychology of what happened post match.
Peoples elbow, Rock gets the win. Camera's totally on Rock for the celebration and cuts to Cena, ALREADY halfway down the aisle going to the back. Rock calls him back into the ring, and Cena comes back (looking beat down) Rock has a back and forth where he tells Cena to celebrate and Cena gets booe'd while Rock gets cheered.
Rock, clearly points out that the fans hate him. They have a verbal back and forth and Cena tries to leave and then gets Rock Bottomed.
HERE's where things get weird.
Have any of you EVER seen Cena slink off into the back like that? That's something i've never seen him do before, and I'm thinking that though i would've liked to have seen it tonight, this Cena heel turn is coming.
I really think so.
