It fits his character when he destroys someone. If I remember correctly, he did the same thing after taking down John Cena and a few other guys.

Miz to me is a talented heel with no background as a maniacal sadist. This characteristic is kind of a jump for me.

He has always been kind of a weasel who catches some lucky breaks and finds cheap ways to win. He does it really well. There are other guys who would fit this role and benefit more from it than Miz.
