Rico I feel ya, my little brother brought that same book home from school about a month or two ago and I was laughing my ass off at it. In one sense I do think it's great because it's getting WWE's name out there to a very large market but at the same time the layout of it and how the content is presented is pretty crappy, I was facepalming all day long. But I've seen it hook a few of my little bro's friends and get them interested, so while fans like us will see it and laugh at it, atleast it's roping in future fans and hopefully they'll learn what's what as they watch.

don't bother with this idiot anymore guys, he's just some smark who wishes we were still in the day of Stone Cold kicking McMahon's and the rest of the Corporation's ass every monday night, DUDE THAT DAY IS OVER!!! GET OVER IT!!!!! this moron probably loves TNA cuz Hogan, Flair and Bischoff are on it.

history is always important so i hope a bunch of dumbasses dont call him a nostalgia addict.. the op that is. i dont think history should be whitewashed just because the book reader is elementary school or middle school aged. i think the Monday Nite Wars are relevent today because they got us to the point and have had far reached effects on wwe and even TNA, and ROH.

As far as Chavo is concerned as a man he has gripes, as a Guerrero he has gripes, and as a former WWE roster member he has gripes. I do not want to hear any of this "he oughta be lucky for this much" blah blah. you dont tell any man what he does or doesnt deserve or can bitch about.

Replacing the word "Pro-Wrestling" with "Sports Entertainment" and making John Cena who is nothing compared to the likes of Hulk Hogan,Ric Flair,Steve Austin etc disgusts me and make me want to stop watching WWE altogether.Wait till Wrestlemania 28 when/if Cena will be booked to beat The Rock kids and Cena fans will say Cena is the greatest superstar of all time which will make me and many others want to stop watching WWE.

Of course they're going to hype Cena and wrestlers who are still wrestling up making them sound bigger then what they are. Because they are still wrestling like a few people before me, most kids nowdays that watch wrestling, and future WWE fans, don't know much about the greats from yesteryear. It only makes sense to try and get them interested using wrestlers that can still bring them money. Now, I'm not american so I can't rattle up an example you will understand, but I'm sure somebody could help me out, but My football team Geelong cats, don't mention Gary ablett senior, they don't write books about him, mention him almost at all, because even though he made Geelong great for a while he isn't going to recruit new members in this era.

T.G.L. If you dont have some type of era bridge and these people dont mention it then the only window of opportunity to put things in contxt. because i was born in 1988 i cant understand Sammartino's legacy, i also would not had been able to put any of the things Flair did from 1973-1993 without seeing him in WCW during the late and mid '90s and atleast getting to know him at one point. Me watching him in Evolution would not had done it. they need to know an accurate history because wrestlers often re emerge after YEARS of inactivity. if these kids are going to see the Rock vs Cena they need to know why it is big, they need to see how things were during the Rock's day, and they need to see if he did or didn't set the stage for Cena. Its all about putting the big picture in context. When Cena is 45 we might see him leave and then come back at 49.

Like Sparky said of course WWE is going to hype Cena up. He is their biggest star, best guy in terms of media relations, and sells a majority of their merchandise. Whether he is better that the greats such as Flair, Rock, Hogan (who he is very similar to) and Austin can only be truly decided with relevant judgment when Cena's career is over. Where these guy referred to as legends when they were currently active? Uh I think not so like I said whether Cena is a legend or not remains to be seen. As far as losing to the Rock goes, why purpose does him loosing severe? Cena has to win because this match is not only epic, but it will act as the "Passing of the torch" match that this generation has been deprived of due to all the retirements. So of course Cena will and has to beat Rock at Wrestlemania 28. I also highly doubt many people will stop watching if Cena wins as well.

Why do people like Ryder? He's a jobber at best, and not even a good one. Shouldn't Natalya and Beth be feuding, wouldn't that be more interesting. I hope WWE is saving that for WM. What's with the Uso's? Representing your heritage just alienates people. Get some personality and drop the war dance. How come Cody never defends his title? Ziggler does at least once a month. I would love to see them two feud that would be cool. Last for now is Tyson Kidd why does he always lose? He's really good in ring (better than Ryder). Is he a jerk backstage or something? Maybe he could tag with Sin Cara or Jinder Mahal.

I think people are quick to point out his faults because he's so over. If you're over, it really doesn't matter why you're over. And Ryder's not going anywhere anytime soon.
Shouldn't Natalya and Beth be feuding, wouldn't that be more interesting.
Yup. At one point, I had faith that the WWE cared enough about Beth and Natalya to actually have these two go somewhere in their respective division. However, I was wrong. They're doing absolutely nothing right now that could be considered even remotely interesting. So hopefully, these two collide come Wrestlemania or Kharma comes back and kills them both singlehandedly.
What's with the Uso's? Representing your heritage just alienates people.
You make a solid point, but The Uso's are far better now than they were as the useless heels they were a year ago.
Get some personality and drop the war dance.
I think the war dance made them quite different. I don't want them to be just an everyday tag team, I want The Uso's to stick out and what a better way to do that than the war dance?
How come Cody never defends his title? Ziggler does at least once a month. I would love to see them two feud that would be cool.
I don't know why Cody never does. He'd likely put on phenomenal matches.
Last for now is Tyson Kidd why does he always lose? He's really good in ring (better than Ryder). Is he a jerk backstage or something? Maybe he could tag with Sin Cara or Jinder Mahal.
Tyson Kidd is a really good seller. He knows how to take a move and sell it like so many others can't. He may be used to make others look so much better. I like Tyson; he's a good wrestler. However, he needs to dust off some personality if he wants to make it in the WWE.

I want to put a very simple question out there:

Has the RAW creative team bottomed out of late?

To me, the product right now on Monday night's is one of the worst it's been in a very long time. Be it from incomplete stories to unnecessary segments, much of the show has been an absolute mess.

Let me begin with the Nash/HHH story. We all saw Nash's debut back in August. While it confused many, it had the "something big is happening" feel to it, and after a postponed match between Nash/Punk at NOC, the focus turned to the former and the COO.

Here we are, after Nash having taken out HHH prior to Survivor Series, not even hearing from the man. The angle was supposed to conclude at TLC with a match, but now it is being said that may be pushed to the Rumble or dropped altogether.

Next, we are not long away from yet another PPV, and the WWE championship picture is skewed. Punk and Del Rio worked a solid program, but what comes of this? Miz is supposed to be on a roll, but would they literally just throw him into the program just like that? Who is he feuding with anyway right now?

In relation to that, will Cena get involved in it? If so, for how long, and how will he get involved? Are we going to see Del Rio/Punk/Cena again?

The tag team titles haven't even been addressed because of the suspension, and the diva circle is...well, the diva circle. Thankfully, Ziggler is on a roll of late, but his program with Ryder is spotty at best because of how they've handled its inconsistencies.

J.R./Cole.

Brodus Clay.

So what is bugging me in the overall spectrum?

There's no plan.

We saw it with the anonymous GM angle. We saw it with Nexus. We saw it with Survivor Series' main event. There is no plan. They are booking on a weekly-basis, with no big picture. Even if there IS a big picture, Vince is getting in the way of it.

Now I understand, plans do have to change sometimes. For example, R-Truth getting suspended, Bourne, etc. Understandable. But there needs to be adaptability. There needs to be Plan B, C, and D. Re-writing a show an hour before does nothing beneficial for your product. Things need to be sculpted to be well-received.

Is this all on creative? No. Vince is in the way. Would I say that it's all on Vince? Not necessarily, but with all of his focus on the RAW brand, Smackdown is relatively-flourishing in terms of quality of storyline.

Still, I will and do watch RAW week in and week out. I enjoy it. But I am left disappointed almost every week of late, just because of these inconsistencies and odd stories. I do know sometimes you need to book on the run, but please, give SOME structure to your stories.

The funny thing is Raw has been actually pretty decent compared to other years, remember the Cena/HHH/Orton saga? Yet Raw is still medicore at best. I like Punk, but Punk can't carry Raw or the WWE by himself, he needs something big to do and someone big to oppose. As of now Dolph is the only really credible heel on Raw that actually wins matches and is considered a threat and he's a mid-carder. Truth is gone for 30 days and Miz always beats someone up to gain heat, then looses his next 2 to three matches before pulling a single win out of his ass (if that). For the first time I'm a bit interested on where the Cena angle is going, it looks like a slow heel turn is in the works, but than again WWE could play it safe and have Cena overcome the odds yet again.

tottaly agree, they have no idea what they are doing, no suspense, no drama, just boring matches, with no flair, its sad, vince needs to go....

Agreed that there is no suspense and drama, however...

I actually think some of the match quality has been alright of late. Two great matches with Ziggler in a row, solid match last night with Punk/Del Rio (weird ending), a few others. Overall though, Smackdown is the wrestling show.

And I don't think Vince needs to GO. I think that there needs to be more control for creative to do their thing, with Vince still having input. We can't forget Vince built this himself in the first place, he's entitled to some control at least.

tottaly agree, they have no idea what they are doing, no suspense, no drama, just boring matches, with no flair, its sad, vince needs to go....

I agree on certain points:

No Idea what they're doing: I don't know about that. Look at guys like Punk, Ziggler, Rhodes, Henry, Miz. This time last year, If you would've told me they would be Big Time players, I would've died of laughter. Look at them now. A year makes a hell of a difference.

No suspense:
Right. Gone are the days of intrigue and heel turns you didn't see coming and debuting superstars that would make your jaw drop. In these days, all people do is find the nearest wrestling site and spoil it for themselves.

No Drama: There IS some Drama, just not as intense and story driven as the Attitude Era. But when WWE wants to, they can really bring some serious Drama to the table.

Boring Matches:
I wouldn't use the term boring, but rather slow paced. I remember Attitude Era matches would start fast, then slow down and pick right back up at the end. But these matches are fluid, more technical and less paced than the average match which isn't bad, but isn't too good either. If that makes any sense...

No Flare: I agree here too. WWE is still BIG, but it still misses the pizazz, the WOW factor that made us wetting ourselves waiting for the next show. It's missing something. I can't really describe what, but it just seems to be lacking a certain essence.

Vince needs to Go: Here's where I disagree. Vince created this company into the Conglomerate it is now. He brought the Sex, Violence, Action, and whatever else to the WWF/E and made it must see TV. He's smarter than he looks.

Besides, Vince has proved time and time again, he can bring fans back whenever he wants. Look at how many people who stopped watching wrestling come right back after hearing about Punk's Shoot Promo, look at the debate over the 2-21-11 video last year, the Save_Us.222 promos that had people buzzing, and even the itbegins video that's been appearing lately. I'll even throw in the Punk/Hardy feud from 2009 that is underrated IMO as it was the best feud that year.

Vince has one hell of a mind of business. He can bring back the fans he lost whenever he wants, right now he's doing whatever brings in the money and I can't say I blame him.

Vince also booked ECW December to Dismember 2006. Punk could have been a huge star a lot sooner than this year if it wasn't for Vince holding him back. Vince knows money thats for sure, but I honestly doubt his "creative genius." Everytime a Raw shows sucks ass and is downright horrible, you can come onto wrestlezone.com and read about how Vince had the show rewritten right before it went on the air so he would be satisfied.

You see, these horrible shows are what make Vince happy when he puts them to paper. I think the old bastard is getting senile. Raw has been pretty much inconsistent shit for the last year. There are a few shining lights of hope in Punk, Ziggler, Del Rio, and Zack Ryder, but all in all, no consistent storylines.

I have a ridiculously simple solution for WWE. Instead of hiring Hollywood writers, get English major interns straight out of university / grad school. Hollywood movies suck these days, but the kind of innovation and creativity that comes out of these classes are simply amazing. These interns shouldn't be booking angles, but helping incorporate entertainment into the storylines. Simple things like what to do with CM Punk before he reappeared on WWE TV, how HHH should react when he comes back, how John Cena can steal some of Rock's fanbase - all these are elements that need creative writers, not some Hollywood hack.

This isn't related to any recent posts, I just feel like bitching today...

Bitch #1

FUCK YOU SANTINO MARELLA! Get off of my fucking television set! So, I was somewhat excited (as excited as I can be about WWE recently) that Kevin Nash was going to return to RAW last night and actually wrestle. Great, who's he gonna wrestle? Santino fucking Marella. Please WWE, have someone run him over with a car in the parking garage, give him a kayfabe injury, and make him disappear. There are a lot of talented young guys chomping at the bit to get some tv time, STOP GIVING IT TO THIS DIPSHIT!

Bitch #2

While we're at it, someone run Hornswoggle over with a car as well. He just won a fucking Battle Royal. What's next WWE, have him win the Rumble? I wouldn't put it past the fucktards at WWE creative to feed us that shit next. Please WWE, give some other guys like Tyler Reks a chance. Or better yet, bring Seth Rollins up from FCW and give him a push. The Battle Royal would have been the perfect opportunity to give the young guys a bump since all of the Raw stars were on there way to Japan. Nope, let's watch fatass Mick Foley give that midget the gift (or curse, for us) of speech. What a crock of shit.

Bitch #3

Speaking of a crock of shit, it is time for Mick Foley to call it quits. It's official ladies and gentelmen...

MICK FOLEY HAS TITS.

He has bigger tits than Natalya! Jillian Hall is getting jealous! Foley sucks. Always has. Always will. Before, he was a sack of unathletic shit that was willing to take big bumps. Now, he's just a sack of unathletic shit. Get out of the spotlight Mick. We wish you the best in all of your future endeavors, as long as it doesn't involve pro wrestling or writing books.

Now I feel better. More next week :banghead:

How do you solve a problem like Monday Night Raw?

Look, I can only speak for my own issues, but from looking around it would seem they are shared by many others.

1. Twitter obsession: it seems like the WWE has become a giant Twitter campaign, where matches are interrupted just to let people know what's trending.

2. Plot lines are dropped: HHH/Nash, Anonymous GM, Brodus Clay, fact is that major events/plotlines are being dropped as the show is repeatedly edited at the last minute.

3. Lack of talent development: This roster, overall, is much better than your average flamer gives credit for. I think both brands are stacked with talent that, due to the issues mentioned previously, along with the constant need for bad segments (does Michael Cole need to feud with everybody?), leads to a lot of that talent having nothing to do.

That being said, I have been watching Raw every week, and Smackdown every week I am not working. But the last 4-5 weeks I have noticed I am not enjoying it. I, and perhaps some of you, just watch to see when things will finally pick up. There are a few positives going on, but the product overall is falling significantly in quality. I just watch now hoping that the new show will finally take all the pieces and start to put it together. I watch hoping that Daniel Bryan gets some character development from creative (I think he has personality, just no writing to let him really shine), I hope Cody Rhodes will have a real feud rather than fighting Booker T for no particular reason, I hope Brodus Clay will debut before I die, and I hope Epico's stable will actually do something to become major players on the show.

But I now question whether VKM and the WWE Brass will ever do this. Vince is more infatuated by Twitter than wrestling, and the show just isnt' fun for me anymore. I don't want to waste my time hoping for a talent-laden roster to be allowed to reach their potential by a management team that is so focused on things other than wrestling that they miss the main point of their product.

So here, tonight, I propose a boycott. I will not watch Raw, Smackdown, or any PPV until something occurs and is brought to my attention via this site that sparks hope. I ask you, my fellow fans, who are tired of waiting for things to change to do the same. I ask you to tell your friends to do the same. I don't know who reads this page, but if there is even a minutia of a chance that someone with some small measure of power discovers that viewership loss and rating plummets are directly related to the product quality of WWE...well I dont' know.

I know the odds are good most people do not want to join me. That is fine. Some will say "if you hate it, stop watching," and that is fine as well. If you believe the product is good, I will not argue more to change your mind. If you aren't satisifed though, the best way to bring about change is to turn your tv to something else on Monday and Friday nights, rather than tune in hoping that things will change on their own.

Take care, and good night,

Gamma

Nope. I'm not boycotting WWE. I don't know to some of you, but I am enjoying it much more than the last couple of years with Punk's emergence and the Rock's return. Although I am sometimes pissed to them for dropping some storylines and overmentioning twitter and other stuff.

Why won't I boycott it?
1. Raw is just 2 hours a week. And if you are watching smackdown that's just 4 hours.

2. I'm not paying (or maybe just a little) to watch it anyway. Even the PPVs are broadcasted for free by our local cable provider.

3. I've been watching it for a lot of years now. And I don't think I can stop it so soon.

cool story, bro, but please don't tell it again.

you may not find raw suitable for you, but several people, me included, love what's going on right now. this is a stupid thread. no one cares that you are boycotting wwe. i'm gonna still watch. yes, there is lack of star power, and dropped storylines, but it's still all interesting.

When Did they drop Nash/HHH. I was at raw and not on acid and im pretty sure they have a sledgehammer ladder match at TLC. A match that has never happened to my recollection. Not to mention to everyone wants to say they dropped the conspiracy angle and what Laringitis is truly doing behind the scenes with a stable and what not. Whos to believe they arent just slow building? You always see him texting without explanation and not punishing those like Nash for actions. And flame good ol Ace too when I think he is playing the role his scripted for perfect. Because the IWC calls him boring and a waste of time and then CM Punk says it which gets him over and Ace booed. Wrestling is getting good again. Stop looking for what you remember of the late 90s. If the attitude era happened today youd still be here with your ridiculous complaints. Want me to boycott? Im boycotting this post by not finishing what im writi

I'll join your boycott.. I've kinda of been doing this for a year now.. Every time cena segments starts, or crap i don't like, i'll simply turn the channel for 16 mins..I Hate just about everything going on in the wwe right now. When i'm watching raw, i'm like WTF is this? i used to couldn't wait for mondays, but now i turn it to raw simply because it's a habit or more like a tradition... TBH, I Think the problem is that VKM is loosing his mind as he gets older and i truly think that he's doing more harm that good..

The reason they are doing this twitter crap is because Vince found out the kind of the money you can make using twitter. Twitter is a money machine and you can make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year with twitter.

How do I boycott a product I don't follow anymore? I'll return to watching once HHH, Kane, Taker come back for Wrestlemania season, or when Punk stop sucking so much as a face. The fact that Mark Henry and Dolph Ziggler are the most interesting Champions right now is sad to all the supposed 'Superstars' that are protected as main eventers.

I can definitely see what you mean, the product is stale as f*ck, the storylines suck and everything is overly predictable. The only storylines/Superstars that are given time to develop and have great matches are the people in the main event, everyone else is the same/cookie-cutter.

You don't have to look past the Divas or tag team division to see the total travesty that is the WWE. One would assume that to have a great product, EVERYTHING needs to be great, not just one bunch of people. Look at the tag champs, one champ gets suspended, and the other holds it for a month because no other teams are available. The Divas get a maximum of 5 minutes per segment with one segment per show. That isn't enough time for a decent match or any storyline/character progression, which results in a travesty of a division.

Frankly, if it wasn't for it becoming so routine for me now, I wouldn't be watching. If you wanna "stick it to them", download their shows and watch them illegally, don't give them the ratings that they do not deserve.

Dropped? HHH/Nash have a match, the Raw Gm thing could still be explained, how many times has there been a "IT WAS HIM ALL ALONG" type of thing? As for Brodus, they could explain that as Ace fucking with him. Not a very big deal.

Also, yes, if you don't like the product, stop watching, and stop posting on here. I don't like Jersey Shore and I don't post how much I don't like Jersey Shore on Jersey Shore boards.

Lack of talent development? So....CM Punk becoming one of the most over guys on the roster, elevating ADR, Ziggler/Rhodes coming to the top, Mark Henry becoming relevant, and Sheamus poised to be a top babyface isn't development? O, and Zack Ryder is a midcard star...do you even watch?

Michael Cole feuds with people because he generates heat. That's how pro wrestling works.

Booker T vs Cody Rhodes generates interest too. Believe it or not, wrestling fans are generally dumb and nostalgic, if you put Rhodes against a familiar face, it gives Rhodes more relevance.
