Survivor 31

I think the double idol play is the most obvious option. No votes for anybody after the votes have been revealed is something the show would use in preview like we saw. If we get to the final three and we haven't gotten that scene than it spoils the final tribal council and we all know it's going to be locked up at 5-5 for two of the three. I feel like that's something they would keep hidden until the finale for the most shocking moment in Survivor history. Jeff loves that sort of shit.

The only way it could be a tie vote for the winner and allow us to see the scene in the preview is that Jeff and production had to make an on the spot decision about what to do for the tie. Assuming 3rd place gets to become the 11th vote and decide the winner, you cannot allow them cast the vote at the live finale. They would have seen the show and been influenced by that. So they have to vote on location during the season. Which would mean you have to reveal to everyone that it's a tie.
  • Don't think it's a tie.
  • Preview spoils the final tribal if it is a tie.
  • You lose the entire revealing of the votes at the live finale since we would have to be told it's a tie and therefore only need to see a single vote from the person who came in third.
  • I just think they would have kept this hidden if it was a tie for the winner.

EDIT: The discussion of Wentworth playing better than Jeremy should end tonight. Jeremy has had 0 votes cast against him this season while never holding individual immunity or playing an idol for himself. He's been at the top since day 1 and he's managed to survive. It's over.

Has there ever been two idols played at once? So not necessarily forcing an invalid vote but just 2 idols played.

At some point in the game you have to lock in an alliance, at 6 surely its settled?

I actually had a bit of respect for Abi tonight, didn't just go along with whatever she was told and tried to make a move

Anybody else think Spencer chose the side he did because of his friendship with Tasha more than his connection to Jeremy? That of course along with the fact Abi is a pain in the ass to work with.

Season 29, Jon and Keith both played idols at the same tribal council.

Also happens in season 28 with Tony and LJ.

Malcolm and his crew play two idols in season 26.

Sash and Chase also play idols at the same time in season 21.

Jeremy, Tasha, Kimmie, Keith, Kelly, Spencer.

If I am Jeremy or Spencer I don't want to sit next to the other guy at the finish so when do I make a move to get rid of the other guy? Or am I comfortable enough to sit next to the other guy at the end? Neither was comfortable sitting next to Joe.

If I'm Kimmie, I have to be concience of the fact that I can't beat Spencer or Jeremy. She certainly can't think that she can beat Jeremy and feels the need to make a move on him.

I could see Tasha's ego telling her she can beat anyone. She probably thinks she has been likeable enough and can convince a jury that she was almost as much making the decisions as Jeremy.

Kelly is pretty fucked. She isn't weak enough to get a sure path the end like a lot expected for Abi but she hasn't built the alliances that could keep her in the game. Her best hope is to win challenges, or convince others to take out Keith, or show others what a threat Jeremy is to win, or play that idol as soon as necessary.

Keith is awesome. He sucks at strategy but I love the way he competes in challenges and he just entertains me but I think he has no chance to win this game. Is there any way he could make the end and convince others to give him a million bucks? I doubt it.

Anyway, I think these guys need to take out Jeremy and Spencer but I can't see it going that way. Who knows? Second chance has been a terrific season despite having some awful cast members.

Edit: If I had to guess, Tasha, Spencer, and Jeremy blind side Kimmie next while flushing out Kelly's idol. Kelly goes next followed by Keith and then Tasha, Jeremy and Spencer let the voting play out where Jeremy wins.

Keith can only win if he's there with Tasha and Kimmi.

Also there was 2 idols played at once in Heroes vs Villains when Parvati gave Sandra and JerrI the idols.

Tough decison for Spencer. He's going to lose next to Jeremy...but I trust Jeremy more than Kelley. Either way though it's the same situation...Spencer and Jeremy/Kelley are going to target each other at four if they're smart. Maybe...Kelley for sure, Jeremy might keep Spencer.

But Spencer would have to trust volatile Abi...who wasn't with Kelley and her group anyway since she was voting for Keith because that's what Tasha and Jeremy told her. I mean granted it would have been a 3-3-1 tie, and Tasha would still be out...but still.

Spencer put himself in a great position in the game after narrowly escaping elimination many times premerge. But post merge is the hardest because siding with Jeremy could be a million dollar mistake. I think he has a better final three chance with Jeremy and Tasha, but I think he had a better winning chance with the others.

Jeremy has it almost sealed up. He's got two more obstacles, Kelley's idol and Spencer at final four. However if Kelley sticks around because of her idol at final five she could be the priority elimination instead. That would explain a Jeremy and Spencer final three.

So can anyone dispute that Spencer is shit at Survivor?

Nah. He's severely underrated by hardcore fans and severely overrated by casual fans. He's playing a pretty decent game this time around. Ten times his Cagayan game.

The fact that he's in such a solid position despite his reputation and getting screwed up by the earlier twists speaks volumes. But if he lets Jeremy get to the end, then his game goes down a few notches.

I'm totally seeing the theory that the "First time in 31 seasons" is a double idol play and all votes being cancelled out. I think Da Prophet is the one who mentioned it first.

Jeremy is the type of player that when Kelley plays her idol, he's not taking the chance, he's playing his. Especially if they're targeting Kelley. I just can't figure out if this is happening at final six or final five, because I imagined they were going to target Keith first because he's a challenge threat. And plus Tasha called Kelley a goat so obviously she's not being seen as a threat.

I saw another theory that there ends up being a FTC tie. Apparently if there is a tie, Jeff reads the votes there and then they revote there, then he reads the new votes at the reunion. I can't see this happening though.

I'm convinced it's a double idol play which cancels all the votes.

If it is a tie for the winner than Survivor should learn to never have an even number jury again. So simple, just take Kass off the jury and have 9 people vote for the winner. This 10 person jury is bigger than it needs to be anyway.

It doesnt matter how many people are on the jury, if you have a final 3 its always possible to tie it.

At least one person is always a major goat.

It's basically final two.

EDIT: Becky, Dreamz, Courtney/Amanda (depending on who you ask), Sugar, Mick/Russell, Russell, Chase, Phillip and Natalie, Albert, Chelsea, Michael and Lisa, Sherri, Monica and Gervase, Missy, Will.

The only time you can even argue that a final three had no goats is Survivor: Philippines. Michael and Lisa played well but they had no chance Denise or Malcolm. They were stuffed either way and I think that makes them goats.

I'm of the belief that if there was a tie the third place finisher would cast the deciding vote. It'd be slightly unfair considering they've been able to watch the season and what their competitors have been saying behind their back, but it makes more sense than a revote.

Anyway I feel pretty confident the first time ever thing will be all votes being cancelled.

That's why they'd never revote live. It'd be at the FTC. Jeff and production already knows the votes anyway because they read them and resort them for drama. They also have to make sure they're all legit votes and nobody wrote something stupid.

So if they see it's a tie, they'd reas the votes right there...Fishbach would probably have an orgasm.

Seriously!? Neither Amanda nor Courtney were goats. Amanda had a very solid chance of winning heading into FTC until she verbally shat the bed. And Courtney got two votes despite the fact that she didn't care at all. The one time at FTC that she did care was when she answered Jean-Robert, and that's only because she wanted to embarrass him, but it still proved she could make a decent case for herself if she really wanted.

China is easily the most uncertain Final 3. And Final 3s, despite what other fans would argue, make for a better FTC in modern Survivor. It reduces the chance of having 9-0 blow-outs every season.

this, final 2s are boring. Either somebody has pissed everybody off and gets no votes or has played a brilliant game strategically and gets everyones votes

The thing I hate about a Final 2, is the outcome comes down to that last immunity challenge. Then the winner gets to pick who's next to them at the end. At least with a final three, it can be a 2-2 tie and one person doesn't have more power.

It brings all elements of the game into play. Tony almost got screwed back in Cagaynn because of the Final 2. Luckily Woo is a moron.

I think Final 3 just makes it perfect.

11 times in the final three someone has gotten 0 votes.

1 time in the final two someone has gotten 0 votes.

Earl Cole was the first person to win the game and get every jury vote. He did so in a final three. It's happened two more times and it's split 1-1 between a final two and final three. So a final three has produced 2 winners getting all the jury votes while a final two has only done it once.

A final three does not create more drama. One person is always knocked out of the running and will usually get 0 votes. 6 times someone in the final three has gotten 1 vote.

You're far more likely to have a vote where someone gets 0 votes in the final three. Just make it a final two. If the winner is good enough they'll make it to the end.

Final two and three where the winner has won by 3 or more votes.

Final Two - 9/15
Borneo: 4-3
Australia: 4-3
Africa: 5-2
Marquesas: 4-3
Thailand: 4-3
Amazon: 6-1
Pearl Islands: 6-1
All-Stars: 4-3
Vanuatu: 5-2
Palau: 6-1
Guatemala: 6-1
Panama: 5-2

Micronesia: 5-3
Tocantins: 7-0
Cagayan: 8-1

Final Three - 11/15
Cook Islands: 5-4-0
Fiji: 9-0-0
China: 4-2-1
Gabon: 4-3-0
Samoa: 7-2-0
Heroes vs. Villains: 6-3-0
Nicaragua: 5-4-0
Redemption Island: 8-1-0
South Pacific: 6-3-0
One World: 7-2-0
Philippines: 6-1-1
Caramoan: 8-0-0
Blood vs. Water: 7-1-0
San Juan del Sur: 5-2-1
Worlds Apart: 6-1-1

Stop looking at the numbers for a minute, and look at the hypothetical scenarios:

Are you saying you would've preferred Ozzy vs. Becky? Dreamz (probably) vs. Cassandra? Parvati vs. Russell? Bob vs. Sugar? Fabio vs. Sash? Coach or Sophie vs. Albert? Natalie or Jaclyn vs. Missy? Mike vs. Will? Skupin (probably) vs. Lisa?

Those are goddamn nightmare scenarios. Final 3s may not always be filled with drama, but they sure as hell improved upon the potential Final 2s.

Plus, Final 2s in newer seasons have robbed us of Cirie and Kass making it to FTC. So yeah, fuck Final 2s.

Finally, your use of older seasons of Survivor ignores my point that Final 2s are worse in modern Survivor when players with Immunity are more likely to take goats to the end.

What are the Final 2s since Season 15? Parvati beating Amanda, JT destroying Stephen, and Tony destroying Woo. And Micronesia, the only dramatic Final 2 in modern Survivor, would've been even more dramatic with a Final 3 including Cirie.

I would've preferred final 2 of Parvati vs Russell just so Parvati wouldn't have been robbed of the win like she was. But I agree I like final 3 better.

Parv and Russell read the letter written by J.T. on a daily basis in front of the Heroes and mocked them constantly by doing so.

Sandra didn't.

Sandra got all the hero jury votes and Courtney.

Parv shouldn't have taunted the majority of the jury while they were in the game.

FOAD Kass, Final Council isnt about you. Fuck off and stop feeding your ego

Wow. Jeremy played a flawless game. Playing the pregnancy card at final tribal was genius.
