IMPACT Wrestling LD for 12.6.12 is LIVE!

He improved tremendously since he first stepped foot in TNA. Go watch some of his promos from 2003 or even 2005 — they're holy shit bad.

Working with Christian and Angle really helped him a ton, because by 2007 he was doing A-OK.

I've seen those. People today say that's the reason they don't buy him as a main eventer. I personally do buy him as a main eventer. He's not a character that needs to be the greatest talker ever. He gets his points across and it's fine. Then he backs it up with great wrestling. Very Bret Hart-esque.

I don't want Aries and Bully again.
Maybe Final Resolution will live up to it's name and we'll end some long lasting rivalries.

Believe it or not, he actually reminds me of Bret Hart.
I can definitely see that comparison. To the point where he's one of the best in-ring workers of his day, with not-great-but-passable mic skills. Obviously nowhere near as popular by industry standards, but within the TNA bubble I think that's a fair assessment.

I won't deny that Christian and Angle both helped AJ a lot, but I also think his short run with Ric Flair as his manager produced some of his best promo work. It certainly doesn't hurt working with so many veterans of the business. Though at 35 he's kind of a veteran in his own right.

Great start to Impact tonight. A very strong way to spend 13 minutes. Great promos by all, and gets me hyped up to see tonight's main event. When TNA sticks to basics, they land on the money every single time.

Again at the end of the day: Aces and 8's right now is D-Von and Luke Gallows. Why are we supposed to be intimidated by them?

Yup. Exactly who I've compared him to for years. I said it in the Kaz/Main Event thread:

...by default main event performers require exceptional verbal skill/talent, a great look/character and adequate in-ring ability, and tend to need at least two of the three to succeed. Jeff Hardy, for example, only has two of those three (adequate in-ring ability, great look/character), but still excels.

To me, AJ has two of the three — ring ability and great look/character. His verbal skill is passable, not exceptional, but he's already met two of the three, so he's in, Gut Check style.

Whoever was responsible for dressing Joe in a skort needs to be fired. In fact, whoever has been responsible for dressing Joe since he's been with TNA needs to be fired. Why is it so difficult to just get this guy in a decent outfit/singlet?

Another thing I can't stand. Women who call other women "girl."
Yes. Clearly the proper vernacular is "hey bitch" or nothing at all. And who the hell gave her permission to speak in the first place?

I would just like to say...I didn't hate that segment. Nor did I hate the title change. Not that it makes them scary or anything, but it wasn't awful. I might be in the minority here.

I've said it before and I'll say it again — if D-Lo brown is supposed to be revealed in the Aces and Eights storyline, just cut the legs out from under it now and start over.
