Daggers & Dragons: Ask me stuff

I loved your RolePlay. I am liking Platinum's role.

Looking forward to what's next for Theron. :)

Thanks man, I enjoyed writing it and there's more to come next round.

I just put the Final Final Fantasy XIII trilogy at the top of my Game Fly Q and I was wondering if it's any good.

The only one I've ever played was X-2 back in the day.

13 is good the first time through but it is so insanely linear that you'd never want to play it again. 13-2 was a little better although I did not finish it due to, well let's just say real life got in the way for a while, and I never got a new Xbox One after that difficult season of life. The fund that would have gone toward a new Xbox One went to ringside seats at TLC. I have never played the third in that trilogy, same reason. This is also why I'll be pretty late to the party on 15. The series took a huge downward turn after 10 that it never recovered from.

I like my games more on the linear side.

I didn't care for X-2 because I kept getting so turned around I had no clue what I had to do or how to do it. I haven't given a FF game a chance until now for that reason.

Hmmmmm.

Well that makes me a bit nervous.

It has some cool characters like Lightning and Fang, story's fine. The linear nature makes it a game you only want to play through once is the thing. I'd still try it out and see what you think.

If you haven't played any of the old ones I'd start with 4, 6, 7, or 9 first. Those are the best.

Hallway Simulator 2009.

And how the fuck has it been 7 years since that game was released?

No kidding. What's even more shocking to me is that it's been 20 years (in about a month) since Final Fantasy 7 came out. That's unreal.

Final Fantasy 13 was way too linear except for like the final chapter. 13-2 Was pure garbage, 13-3 as well, and final fantasy XV has been simply amazing. The graphics, the gameplay everything so far in the 2hrs I've logged has been better than the whole 13 trilogy combined. Final Fantasy 12 was also good tho its turned away from turn based battles. My top 5 final fantasy games are ff8,ff7,ff9,ff12 n ff tactics (tho not a true ff game, the strategy m job classes were amazing, had well over 500hrs on my save file, especially after unlocking cloud from ff7)

I haven't truly enjoyed a Final Fantasy game since Final Fantasy X, (which I loved) I lose interest in them quickly and they don't get picked up again. I tried pretty hard to like Final Fantasy Type 0 too. In the end I just said screw it, I just can't like it enough to keep playing it.

I'm really hoping Final Fantasy 15 can recapture some of the magic that the series has lost since FFX. Hearing some good (and bad) things about it so far, mostly good.

I love Final Fantasy 8. I know it's a controversial one, but it was one of my first and I loved the story and world. Last one I played was 12, which I found disappointing. I am a huge Tactics and Tactics Advance fan so I was excited for it to be set in Ivalice, but I didn't really like Vaan that much and I hated how you couldn't talk to most of the NPCs in a town. Made the world feel so dead and cold. If they had fixed that and made Ashe the protagonist I probably would have liked it more.

Somehow I'm not surprised that 13-3 is being looked at negatively too. When I looked up the gameplay style it didn't exactly make me be in more of a hurry to obtain a new Xbox One to go finish 13-2 (since I always play in order of release. Always.) 13 had so much potential it's truly sad it couldn't live up to said potential.

Same. While I don't like X as much as the majority of 1-9, that was the last good one. I'd give just about anything to have another one like 7 or 9 again.

8's story and music are good. I had more of a problem with its gameplay. The drawing magic system is one I've never liked. Also, having more characters stick around longer (such as Edea or Laguna) as playable party members permanently would have been cool. I'm pretty divided on 8. There's things I love about it and things that make me not want to really play it again.

Final Fantasy 7 is the only one that I have played, so I consider that one to be the best.

In terms of overall quality for the experience of playing it and the impact it had on the genre, 7 is the best. No doubt about it. The only FF title that comes close for me is 4, but a lot of that is nostalgia. Final Fantasy 7 has never been topped. It is to RPG's what Ocarina Of Time was to Adventure games, what Mario 64 was to platformers, or what Street Fighter 2 was to fighting games. The measuring stick that all other entries in the genre try to compare up to.

I wonder if there is enough appeal to run a video game tournament? We haven't done one in probably 7 years.

I'm up for it. We'd need guys like Lee, Dave, and Doc to organize it though. I can help too although I'm admittedly not as well versed in most of the newer games. And that's if the admins are ok with it.

I don't remember if you've posted about it before or not. bmBut what does this new Rep image means?

I've been spreading rep to RP's and LD participation with them. That's what Link looked like in the very first Zelda game so with Theron thinking he is a Zelda character for now, it seemed appropriate. The tunic depends on what show you RP'ed on (or what show the LD was for). The items are randomly determined for RP's and set with a new one each week for the LD guys until they run out of items then I might begin going through the bosses for them. For an RP the items Link is holding currently mean nothing other than the Triforce piece which goes to the RP of the week. I have yet to give the one of Link holding up a Heart Piece yet, saving that for something later since nothing came to mind.

I really like these cool stuffs. I always have been someone who gets excited about small things like these. Mine was holding a ladder though. Does that signify anything in particular?

None of the items currently mean anything other than the Triforce piece. It gets a little tough to gauge what 14 different images mean. I roll to determine which item it is though, so you could make a guessing game out of what item it could be.
