USA Presidential Elections 2012 LD

Obama looks like he's having a great time. But deep inside he's thinking, "Dear God, please let me get home to a bed."

That was a fantastic speech, but overall it was a disappointment because Joe Biden didn't zipline onto the stage. Other than that though... wow. How can't you be inspired after that?

And to top it off, Michelle Bachmann is losing!

How hilarious would that be. This was a potential Presidential candidate for the Republican party (thought admittedly, not a likely one), and if she is defeated, I would laugh.

And at the same time rejoice, because she's truly crazy.

It could be a long night with her. She's gone from 2000 ahead to 2000 behind to 2000 ahead again in about 5 minutes.

The only way that you could argue that war with Iran has become more likely is if you subscribe to the idea that Obama's less hard line approach militarily makes Israel more jittery and Iran more belligerent.

That might be true if Obama had been doing nothing else in the region but while he has not been sabre-rattling, he has been fostering better relations with other regional powers through diplomatic channels - Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, even Jordan. And do not underestimate the impact of the restraint he showed over Libya, only intervening when asked rather than acting pre-emptively. All the while, Iran's biggest ally, Syria, has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Now we get the true Obama. No more worrying about elections. I'm excited. I like the guy. He has busted his ass for all he has (main reason I don't buy into that Obama just wants to give everyone free stuff! bullshit).

I think I saw this race in the same way our President did - he didn't have an ounce of respect for Mitt Romney, and neither did I. I think he had a great deal of respect for an honorable opponent, John McCain, as did I. Romney? No. Not at all. He isn't an honorable man. He's a corporate shark who has been handed all he has on a silver fucking platter.

It's easy to succeed when you have zero chance of failing.

I'm happy. I won't say Obama has been a great President, that is yet to be seen. He has another term to become that. Now it's time for Romney to go the fuck away. Go make speeches for $100,000 a pop, keeping your high maintenance, worthless, snobbish wife in $5,000 outfits.

That's all I have. Thanks for your time, boys and gals.

I think this will go down as a bigger win than the last one as the race issue was nowhere the level it was last election.

I just hope this means more things get done other than trying to stop a re-election by Obama and some Republicans will do what they were elected to do rather than toe the FOX party line.

From a non-American, it really amazes me how tribal party politics have become in America. I understand voting for the same party due to habit or still believing in the party's ideals, but to think the other side is actively trying to destroy the same country you call home is just borderline insane. Both sides have people that try to improve your country, not secret agents from Muslim countries or rich people. This goes for both parties.

I think he's actually on his way. We have near universal healthcare. We stopped a massive catastrophe from bottoming into a Depression. We've seen the greatest advancement of civil rights since the '60s. We've seen incredible levels of voter turnout. Our foreign relations are far better than they were when he took over.

I think Obama is well on his way.

Yeah I was skeptical when he won the primary in 08, I genuinely felt he should have waited til 2016 with a few more years experience behind him.

Yet I now think it will pay off.

And yet there are people who'll ignore that and focus on the $15 trillion America now owes.

An actual Facebook post from someone from my hometown.

This country has forgotten what the American dream is all about. People used to come here to work and earn their money. Now they come and just hop on the welfare wagon. You want your kids to go to college so u vote for Obama? What good is college when u get out and their are no jobs cuz the economy is shit? It all starts with the economy not abortions or gay rights. People got their priorities all fucked up.

Oy vey...

Hi Serious Jones

Well, now it gets interesting. Does Obama go even farther left because "why not?" or does he move towards the middle like pretty much every other second term president concerned with leaving a decent legacy? History says the latter but the personality of the man hints at the former. Should be interesting to follow.

This is personal but the thing that I'm concerned about most is Israel. So far, I have been deeply unimpressed by this president's actions as it pertains to Israel. He's likely the most ant-Israel president we've ever had. I'd like for that to change but I'm not hopeful. In fact, I'm scared.

As for the rest of the stuff, I wasn't confident in either of our "main candidates". Seemed like picking between two fatties when all the hot chicks are at another bar. You don't really win, you just hope your choice doesn't crush you.

Tell me all the wonderful things all those Pro-Israel presidents accomplished for Israel?

Well, at the very least, the support was unquestioned. Before settlements were even built, Obama told Israel not to build them. This despite the fact that the first settlements were ON land that wasn't in dispute. Then the floatilla attacks happened and while it was pretty clear within hours of them that Hezbollah men attacked Israeli soldiers violently and the soldiers merely acted in self defense, Obama came out and said "we have to examine this from all avenues" rather than saying he supported Israel's right to defend itself.

Basically, this is a president that has looked to be liked by all the nations in the Middle East and as a result, has been looked upon very poorly by Israel. The thing is, Israel is quite a strong nation on its own, but it can't sustain itself if the United States is supporting those that want to destroy it. I'd rather just stay out of the Middle East than handle things the way they have been handled so far. My family in Israel is fearful of this president and its a shared sentiment over there. Like I said, when it comes to other issues, it's different, but Israel is something I vehemently support regardless of what that means to my political affiliation. I don't believe the way this president has acted is in the best interest of Israel. I hope things start to change for the better.
