A few months ago, New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg thres some of his fortune behind a marketing research project to discover the national viability if a third party candidacy for President. Take a look at this excerpt from Wikipedia about Mike Bloomberg and 2008:
While it remains to be seen if this happens or not, it also begs the question - Jesse Ventura recently had a falling out with the Republican Party, and has been approached about a presidential run. So, would a ticket of Jesse Ventura and Mike Bloomberg entice you in 2012?
Unity08
There had been talk of drafting Bloomberg to run as a presidential candidate on the Unity08 ticket. On January 10, 2008, the organization released a statement announcing that two of its co-founders, Doug Bailey and Gerald Rafshoon, were leaving Unity08 and launching a national draft movement to entice Bloomberg to run as an independent candidate.[70]
Possible Vice Presidential campaign
While Bloomberg has stated that he will not run for president of the United States, there is some speculation that he would be a candidate for the vice presidency. In a blog posting of June 21, 2007, The Politico's Ben Smith asks the question of whether a VP candidate can self-finance an entire presidential ticket.[71] Many believe that Bloomberg would in fact be legally permitted to self-finance a campaign as the VP candidate.
Adding more fuel to the speculation that Bloomberg might consider a VP slot are a series of meetings he had in mid-August 2007 with former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn, a Democrat who had considered running as an Independent, and later with Barack Obama on 30 November 2007.
