I wonder if Cena does sell more. I never looked up those stats. I figure WWE would publish it somewhere as a publically traded corporation. I have no plans to actively pursue the figures, as my point was simply the vital role any merchandise plays in a wrestler's legacy and career. Whether it is Cena or Michaels or whomever is immaterial to me.

John Cena winning the Rumble was the best possible way to start the Road to Wrestlemania. Besides him being the most entertaining wrestler in the WWE, he is the Prototype champion. Cena is more deserving than anyone, mainly because he represents what a true champion is in and out of the ring.
Besides, most of the people were complaining that either Triple H or Batista were going to win. Well, thanks to Cena and his early rehab, they didn't win. Be sure to thank him if you ever meet him.

well people ask for merchandise sales and we only see the wwe shops, their merchandise sells in more places.
Hulk Hogan was a legit draw for 20+ years, Austin was one for about ten years, gimme me Hogan any day, I know Austin retired because of injury, but Hogan was able to draw late into his forties, which i believe makes him the best.

1) Hogan doesn't like putting ppl over. He didn't put Orton over and HBK said he'll Hogan put him over only if Hogan would return the favor at Vengenance. It turns out HBK put Hogan over but Hogan refused to pay him back. He's an asshole.
2)Hogan was suppose to face Bog Show at last years Wrestlemania but the price he was asking for was outrageous. He wanted something around a million dollars.
3)Merchandise counts a lot in wrestling because the superstars make a percentage out of their merchandise. As a matter of fact this is the reason why there are so many faces in wrestling because fans like faces more so they would rather buy a faces shirt. TBH the only heels who's merchandise sells is Kennedy,Orton, and Edge.
4)Cena wasn't in the top of selling when he was injured because there was no way for him to advertise his clothing or dvd product.

By 1997, he actually thought he is what makes wrestling what it is. While that statement is true, his ego and fame is what makes pathetic in attempt to put other wrestlers over because he thinks his spotlight would be taken.
The only person Hogan would lay down for clean was The Rock, even afterwards, in their second confrontation, he didn't get beaten clean. He definately sucks at pushing wrestlers.
In short, Hogan is scum, 'nuff said.

Any half way decent wrestler who gets put in practically every main event for the first 10 months of the year is oviously gunna have some match of the year candidates, regardless of whether hes overrated or not so that argument really is no good.
