MMA March - Getting Pampered Every Hour On The Hour

Anderson/Weidman on 7/6/13. Fucking finally time for Anderson to shut this whining clown up. Weidman's worse than Frankie in terms of complaining about title shots. Hopefully Weidman doesn't get injured yet again leading up to a fight. God forbid I have to see headlines of him accusing Anderson of ducking for another year

So Reem is out of the fight with JDS due to an "undisclosed" injury.

Doesn't matter, though. Mark Hunt will most likely be his replacement and Hunt vs. JDS intrigues me way more than Overeem/JDS did anyway. Reem's only worth watching when he can get away with juicing.

And Weidman's getting his shot too soon IMO. I thought he needed at least one more win, not just to be "deserving" of a shot, but for his own good anyway.

Bisping's response to Belcher's bet:

I'm starting to like Bisping more and more. It's a shame about Overeem -- I would have to liked to see him face Junior Dos Santos -- but I'm pretty excited to see Hunt against a fighter like JDS. Hunt deserves a fight against the upper echelon of heavyweights with the tear he's been on of late.

Well... so much for Hunt vs. dos Santos. Mark Hunt turned the fight down according to Dana White, but will get a top 10 heavyweight fight in his next showing. They've pushed Overeem vs. dos Santos back further into the Summer since there's nobody else really relevant enough to put him in there with that's not already booked.

"I hope so motherfucker if I had that much money I'd be fucking pampering myself the fuck up. I'd be having motherfuckers pampering my shit left and fucking right. There would be motherfuckers every hour on the hour showing up to pamper me out,"

Nick Diaz/GSP media call is all kinds of awesome. It's hilarious as Diaz/GSP go crazy. Diaz says he doesn't have a problem with GSP but then calls him a motherfucker. It started off boring but once Diaz gets going it becomes amazing. I'm so pumped for this fight and Nick Diaz is brilliant. GSP had some good lines for Diaz throughout the call.

GSP misinterpreted almost everything Diaz said, as has most MMA fans. Not really their fault (especially GSP since it was heat of the moment stuff), but if you pay close attention, it's easy to understand Nick's points if you don't hate the guy and have the slightest bit of intelligence. Nick can't express himself well at all, which leads to all the misinterpretations, but if you really listen to him, you'll understand where he's coming from.

But yes, it was perhaps the most entertaining conference call ever with GSP being so defensive and Diaz's non-stop profane filled rambling. I loved every second of it. Cannot wait for this fight. I couldn't be more excited if the Saints were playing in the Super Bowl.

Honestly, the only argument I see for Anderson is that going into this fight, Weidman will be coming off a 14 month layoff due to a shoulder injury. That's a tough situation to come back into, let alone against Anderson Silva.

That being said... this fight is going to unfold exactly like Silva/Sonnen I, but Weidman isn't getting finished. He's a world class wrestler with major BJJ credentials and good enough on his feet. He's the worst type of matchup for Silva.

I'm a big fan of Chris Weidman but it's hard to compare his wrestling to Sonnen's in terms of translating it to MMA. Sonnen's been at this for a long time, and has been working the same game against top notch fighters for years. As good as Weidman has looked he's only been in there against one striker and that was Alessio Sakara, who is notorious for making mistakes and being reckless. So we haven't really been given the chance to see how he reacts to truly being rocked, or even shaken up by a solid strike.

I think Weidman will be an eventual champion in the middleweight division but I don't see him beating Anderson at this stage in his career. The thing a lot of people tend to forget about the first Chael Sonnen fight is Andy had fractured ribs, and still managed to sub Chael. Also, look how their second fight turned out when Anderson was completely healthy. So the "If Chael can do it, so can X fighter" argument has been beaten like a dead horse, and it's not really that valid anymore, especially considering we have no idea how successful Chael would have been if Anderson didn't have to deal with his ribs(anyone that's ever had fractured or broken ribs would completely understand the impact of this).

I think the long lay-off and buying into his own hype is going to be the ultimate killer for Weidman's championship aspirations though. All that said I don't see Anderson absolutely killing Weidman, but I think the major difference in experience is going to be felt when Chris gets in there. Silva by KO/TKO round 2, once he gets the range down.

I'm definitely not saying Weidman's level is on the level of Sonnen's. At the same time, I still think Anderson can be taken down and he might be at the point where his takedown defense is overrated. Weidman's still a very accomplished wrestler with serious credentials, and if he fights his fight, he might not even have to be truly rocked.

In addition to being an extremely good wrestler, he's extremely proficient in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, nearly submitting Andre Galvao in the ADCCs (Galvao might not much of a fighter but the ADCCs is as big as it gets in BJJ) with only one year of formal BJJ training under his belt. I would even bet that as a whole, his BJJ is better than Anderson's.

Also, look how their second fight turned out when Anderson was completely healthy. So the "If Chael can do it, so can X fighter" argument has been beaten like a dead horse, and it's not really that valid anymore

Look back at the first round of that fight. That was still a 10-8 round for Sonnen. Chael got sloppy and gassed in the second round. I still have questions regarding how good Anderson's Takedown Defense is.

Hunt/JDS is in for UFC 160! Fucking love this fight so much more than glass chin, Overroidbag.

That was a really strange turn of events...

Overeem is out... Hunt says he'll step up on Twitter and calls for the fans to get behind him to get the fight... Rumors fly about of Hunt/JDS... Dana claims Hunt turned the fight down... Hunt says he never turned the fight down, he's scared of no man... Dana says he's pushing Overeem/JDS back further into the summer... Hunt versus dos Santos is on.

Something doesn't add up but I'm happy that this fight is happening. I just don't understand why Dana would say Hunt turned the fight down when it's clear that he didn't because Hunt was asking for the fight on twitter not long after Overeem had to pull out.

I'm thinking Dana talked to Hunt's manager who either turned the fight down, or asked for a significant amount of money, far more than they'd pay Hunt. Dana recently said he and Hunt spoke on the phone and had a great conversation. Probably just a mis-communication

Since we Australians claim every athlete, singer, performer and anyone slightly talented this is so awesome. It's a massive fight for Hunt and should be very interesting to watch.

As for Overeem... who cares? The hype around him is finished. I've lost all interest in seeing him and I'd much rather see Hunt/JDS than Overeem/JDS. I love this decision by the UFC and can't wait to see Hunt have a go with the top competition.

Eh, I still kind of want to see dos Santos knock the shit out of Overeem for all the trash he talked. If Hunt somehow beats dos Santos(highly unlikely), then I would totally be up for the match between Overeem/JDS still.

I believe I found something that will make Fizzy actually root for Nick Diaz this Saturday. Here's GSP predicting that Chris Weidman will not only beat Anderson Silva, but will actually finish him.

Also, here's a reason why Nick Diaz fans believe in him so strongly. Here's Nick on the speedbag for 23 minutes straight. I GUARANTEE no other MMA fighter could do this. The amount of cardio and shoulder stamina (not to mention skill) this takes is unreal.

Nick Diaz is out of his mind when it comes to cardio and stamina... That video doesn't surprise me at all. Didn't he do a ridiculous long distance swim not long ago as well?

It's just a shame he hasn't sacrificed a little bit of his cardio to put on a bit more muscle and with it more power behind his punches.

Ryan Bader is injured and out of UFC 160 vs. Glover Teixeira, and James Te-Huna is in.

Te-Huna's been begging for a top 10 guy and is getting his chance. This is going to be an extremely awesome fight. If Te-Huna can stop the takedown, this could be a potential upset.

Te-Huna can bang. He also showed crazy resiliency in his last fight. If I were a betting man I would throw down a little money on him for the upset. Should be a good fight. Hell should be a good card. Cain will probably murder Bigfoot again, JDS/Hunt looks like its a go, Donald Cerrone/KJ Noons should be a good fight. I'm excited.

I hate to seem happy over someone being injured, but I love when circumstances like this happen and it results in what should be a much more entertaining fight than the one that had been initially planned.

Bader just had a new little girl anyway, who has time for a training camp with a new born? :p

I've been fine with and pretty much agreed with everything Nick has said the past couple of weeks, but the GSP on steroids thing is the one thing I wish he hadn't said.

Not saying I don't believe GSP is steroids (there's a 50/50 shot in my mind; even Overeem would have never been caught if it weren't for the surprised random drug test after a press conference months before the fight), but it's just extremely unfair to throw an accusation like that around without any solid proof other than your own personal belief.

But whatever. I still badly want Nick to win this fight as much as anything I've ever desired. Saturday night cannot get here soon enough. Shit I'm even looking forward to the weigh-ins later. I have never, ever been this excited for a fight before.

GSP looked pretty annoyed when the topic of steroids came up during the pre-fight press conference yesterday, so I wouldn't be surprised if Nick's just trying to get inside his head. It was a hell of a presser yesterday, though. I loved Dana shutting Ariel Helwani up rightt away -- he was just there to stir shit up with Nick anyway.

Dana mentioned in an interview earlier that he wants TRT banned, which doesn't come as all that much of a surprise. Still, it's pretty big news considering that a few high profile fighters are on TRT, and it's been getting more and more popular as of late. Here's a link, if anyone's interested in reading an article on some of what he said: http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2013/...ants-use-banned-by-state-athletic-commissions

I thought I couldn't get more pumped for this fight until I watched those fucking weigh ins. Holy fuck, I've NEVER seen GSP like this and I fucking love it. I cannot wait to see him beat Nick's fucking face into the mat. Tomorrow couldn't come soon enough

Lol... sorry Fizzy, but if GSP comes out with the mindset to destroy Nick, he's getting his ass handed to him.

GSP will have to fight a typical GSP like fight to win this. If he's over aggressive, Diaz will capitalize.

The only way GSP wins this is by holding on for 25 minutes, or if he lands a little short elbow that cuts Nick bad enough for the doctor to stop it. That's it. He can't beat Nick standing, and he can't finish Nick on the ground. Nobody in WW Division can.

I think this fight will probably be the most exciting GSP fight in a long while, but it's still going to end the same way the majority have... with St. Pierre laying on Diaz and GnPing him at will. There may be some close calls on an armbar attempt, or a triangle attempt here and there from Diaz, and he may rough GSP up on the feet from time to time, but the end result is going to be the same... St. Pierre is too good at what he does, and Diaz isn't good enough at what he does to counteract power wrestling and the kind of top control GSP brings. I'm looking forward to a good fight, but I'm not as interested in Diaz/St. Pierre as I am Hendricks/Condit.

Doing some last minute reading around various MMA forums this morning... It looks like the aftermath of Diaz/GSP could be just as good if not better than the card itself. Diaz is "showing concerns" of being able to pass a post-fight pisser. With Riddle being released for multiple failed tests, you have to wonder if Dana will cut Diaz if he gets popped again. Dana has since said they released Riddle because "he was a fucking idiot", but this is all pretty interesting... I'd like to see what Dana and company would do if Diaz managed to beat St. Pierre and then failed the drug test.
