Party combination #38: Cecil, Rosa, Edge, Yang, Edward

This is kind of a random group. You still lack an offensive caster and might need to have three people in the back row. Edge can fight with Yang and Cecil in the front row if you wish, but his low defense stat will become an issue. This group doesn't suck or anything, it's just that it's nowhere near as good as any of the ones I recommended.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Yang in the front row. Edge, Rosa, and Edward in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Average.

Another alternative to the canonical final lineup with Yang and Palom replacing Kain and Rydia respectively. Palom fulfills the role of the needed offensive caster while Edge can fight in the back row if needed. Cecil and Yang can handle the defending by themselves if your level is high enough. Cid or Kain could both withstand more damage than Yang so it's not the very best party, but this is one of the groups that can get the job done.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Yang in the front row. Edge, Rosa, and Palom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Very Good.

Party combination #40: Cecil, Rosa, Edge, Yang, Porom

An ok team. You have both of the healers, but you'd honestly be better off having one of the offensive casters instead of a second healer. The good news is your fighters can get constant healing to keep them around long enough to provide the healers with the protection they need. Better parties are available when it all comes down to it.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Yang in the front row. Edge, Rosa, and Porom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

An average party. Cecil and Cid are able to provide a line of defense for everyone else, but you lack an offensive caster. Edge once again has the option of being in the back row although he can be up in the front row with Cecil and Cid if you want.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Cid in the front row. Edge, Rosa, and Edward in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Average.

A rather good party that is very balanced. It is basically the canonical final lineup but with Cid and Palom replacing Kain and Rydia respectively. You have an offensive caster, a healer, and fighters to provide them with protection. Cecil and Cid should be able to handle the front row fighting on their own, leaving Edge with the chance to be in the back row where his low defense stat is not as big of an issue. Yet another that I recommend.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Cid in the front row. Edge, Rosa, and Palom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Very Good.

Party combination #43: Cecil, Rosa, Edge, Cid, Porom

An interesting party. The inclusion of both healers is a plus, but the lack of an offensive caster is rarely a good thing. Whether you want Edge in the front row with Cecil and Cid or in the back with the two healers is up to you. He should be fine up in the front row as long as the healers keep healing although I continue to recommend he be in the back row when possible. Feel free to try this group but you're better off with bringing an offensive caster or another fighter instead of the second healer.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Cid in the front row. Edge, Rosa, and Porom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

A party that has difficulty in the defense department. Edge should never be your 2nd best defender in a party, as he is the worst defender out of all the fighters. Edward needs to be in the back with the casters, so Edge will have to be up in the front row with Cecil. Rosa will have a busy time keeping everyone healed, especially Edge. The inclusion of Palom gives you an offensive caster, but the diversity is not enough to make this a useful party overall.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Edge in the front row. Rosa, Palom, and Edward in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

Not that great, but not awful. You have two healers which somewhat negates the issue with having to place Edge in the front row as the second fighter in a party that ultimately could use a third fighter. Feel free to try it if you want a challenge.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Edge in the front row. Rosa, Porom, and Edward in the back row.

A caster-oriented party. It will only work if Edge is in the front row, as none of the casters should ever be in the front row. You have two healers and an offensive caster. This group can get the job done at high enough levels. I don't recommend it though. Kain, Cid, or Yang would all be better off in Edge's position in this party as they can take more damage.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Edge in the front row. Rosa, Porom, and Palom in the back row.

A group containing three fighters, a healer, and.... Edward. You're really better off with having one of the two offensive casters in there, but this is a cool party. Rosa and Edward have the protection they need while your fighters can inflict plenty of damage. It's one major flaw will be difficulty against enemies resistant to non-magical attacks.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Cid, and Yang in the front row. Rosa and Edward in the back row.

Good.

A quite balanced party. Every role that you'd need is filled. Healer, offensive caster, and a few fighters to protect the casters. It's not THE best team, as Rydia and Kain are better than Palom and Cid in their respective roles in this party, but it's a group that would do well in the final battle.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Cid, and Yang in the front row. Rosa and Palom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Very Good.

A good party that can get the job done in most cases, unless you are facing enemies resistant to non-magical attacks. Having two healers is nice though. The fighters can be healed constantly and the healers have a good line of defense protecting them. It's good, but the more balanced parties are all better.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Cid, and Yang in the front row. Rosa and Porom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

This is a cool party. Cecil and Yang will have to take care of the fighting without a third fighter to help them. Edward is better off in the back row with the casters. You have a healer and an offensive caster. Pretty balanced and could be a fun party to try out if you don't want a group with 3 fighters in it.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Yang in the front row. Rosa, Edward, and Palom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

This party might struggle. You only have two fighters and lack an offensive caster. The addition of a second healer is beneficial as Edward, Cecil, and Yang will all need to be healed a lot regardless of if Edward is in the front or back row. Keep him in the back where he is safer. Want a challenge? Try this group.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Yang in the front row. Rosa, Edward, and Porom in the back row.

This party is balanced but generally the parties with 3 fighters are better than the ones with three casters. Cecil and Yang might not be enough protection for Rosa and the twins. You do have two healers and an offensive caster which is nice. Better parties are out there, but you might enjoy this one.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Yang in the front row. Rosa, Palom, and Porom in the back row.

Good.

This is a balanced party that offers a different lineup. Cecil and Cid together are able to provide a good line of defense without a third fighter. Edward can fight from the back row while Rosa and Palom fill the roles of healer and offensive caster respectively. While not one of the best combinations, it can work.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Cid in the front row. Rosa, Palom, and Edward in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

This is another interesting party that benefits from having both of the healers as well as the line of defense that Cecil and Cid provide together. You lack an offensive caster and for that reason this group might have some difficulty. Just be sure to avoid the monsters who require magical attacks unless Rosa/Porom can afford to cast Holy.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Cid in the front row. Rosa, Porom, and Edward in the back row.

This is one that I like. It's in the top tier for groups that contain 3 casters. Cecil and Cid will be able to protect them while Rosa and Porom are there for all your healing needs. Palom should be free to cast all the offensive spells he wants due to the line of the defense and all the healing that can be provided by this party. Definitely worth a try. I prefer groups with 3 fighters instead though myself.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Cid in the front row. Rosa, Porom, and Palom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

Goodness, no. Do not use this party. You know your group is doomed when Edward has the second best defense in the group. Someone has to be in the front with Cecil and you need all three of the casters in this party to be in the back row. Don't expect Edward to survive for too long, there's always the Hide command. The line of defense provided basically consists of just Cecil. Be glad both healers are in the party, they will not be getting any breaks from healing. Try to have Palom finish off everything with his best spells. Or be smart and don't use this group.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Edward in the front row. Rosa, Porom, and Palom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Very Bad.

Party combination #57: Cecil, Rydia, Kain, Edge, Yang

paladinv.png
rydia.png
kain.png

One big problem here is you lack a healer. Rydia does have a couple of summons that heal, but the inclusion of Rosa or Porom would make for a better party. At high levels it COULD work, but you'll struggle at the last few floors of the moon and the final battle. The plus side is your damage potential is through the roof.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Kain, and Yang in the front row. Edge and Rydia in the back row.

The lack of a healer hurts this party but you have a ton of damage potential and the three best defenders to protect Rydia and Edge. Better parties are available, this will be a challenge.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Kain, and Cid in the front row. Edge and Rydia in the back row.

Another group lacking a healer. Cecil and Kain should be able to handle the front row fighting by themselves as Edge can often be better off in the back row. However, you'd be far better off with a party that has a healer in the place of Edward. This group due to having a lower overall defense has far lower odds without a healer than groups with more front row fighters would.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Kain in the front row. Edward, Edge, and Rydia in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

Party combination #60: Cecil, Rydia, Kain, Edge, Palom

Your only chance with this group is to have Rydia and Palom casting their best spells to eliminate the enemies as quickly as possible. The good news is the group has a ton of damage potential, the bad news is that other than Cecil and Kain they cannot take a whole lot of damage.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Kain in the front row. Rydia, Edge, and Palom in the back row.

A balanced group that is basically the canonical final lineup but with Porom replacing Rosa. They can definitely get the job done and every needed role is filled. I recommend this one if for whatever reason you do not want Rosa in the party.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Kain in the front row. Rydia, Edge, and Porom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Very Good.

This is an interesting party that has a ton to offer in terms of defense. The thing is, you do need a healer. That's the one and only flaw. Kain can go in the back row in this one. He is able to Jump from the back row and still do a ton of damage whereas Yang and Cid cannot fight effectively in the back row. Rydia could not possibly be more protected, so if you want a challenge then go ahead and try this group despite the obvious lack of a healer.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Cid in the front row. Rydia and Kain in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Average.
