Party combination #87: Cecil, Rydia, Cid, Edward, Palom

This group has two strong fighters as the line of defense and both of the offensive casters. Edward can fight from the back row, but this group would benefit more from a healer or a third front row fighter. Not recommended.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Cid in the front row. Edward, Palom, and Rydia in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

This group has two strong fighters as the line of defense, Edward to fight from the back row for additional damage, an offensive caster, and a very needed healer. This is pretty balanced and can offer a small challenge to those who want a group that can get the job done, but might want a little more difficulty. Why not? Give them a try.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Cid in the front row. Edward, Porom, and Rydia in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

This could be a fun team. Cecil and Cid form the line of defense in the front row. You have a healer in Porom along with both of the offensive casters in Rydia and Palom. The party can get the job done and it offers a little more challenge at the same time. Not quite good enough to earn "Very Good" status, but it's one worth a second look. If you want a magic oriented team then you will like this one.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Cid in the front row. Palom, Porom, and Rydia in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

Stay away from this party! Edward has no choice but to fight up in the front row with Cecil. The three casters need back row protection far more than him. The Hide command will end up taking care of Edward, but that leaves the rest of the party more vulnerable. The inclusion of a healer ends up not being helpful as Cecil is the only line of defense this party truly has. There are too many characters with awful defense stats in this party thus it is not even worth it.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Edward in the front row. Palom, Porom, and Rydia in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Very Bad.

You may think at first that this is a dream team lineup. It is.... until you begin to lose Health Points or until you run into a monster who requires you to use magical abilities to defeat it. This party is absolutely deadly in terms of fighting. Your lack of a caster will end up creating struggle later down the line though. Pass on this group, or else you will regret it during the last few floors if you even make it that far. If you do decide to try a non-magical challenge with this party.... Place Kain in the back row with Edge as neither Cid nor Yang can fight effectively in the back at all.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Cid in the front row. Kain and Edge in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

An awful party. You need casters when it all comes down to it. I prefer fighters myself, but that doesn't mean I would use a party that has no caster types. Edward and Edge can fight from the back row with the protection from Cecil, Kain, and Yang.... It's not worth it though. You need an offensive caster or at the very least a healer. Don't expect this group to last that long.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Kain in the front row. Edward and Edge in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Very Bad.

You will struggle. Edge and Palom have a line of defense provided by the three front row fighters in Cecil, Kain, and Yang. You're in big trouble though once Health Points begin to run low, especially Palom who does not have very many even on higher levels. Not recommended. You're better off having a healer in Edge's place.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Kain in the front row. Palom and Edge in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

Ok, this group might be able to work. You'll still struggle despite having a healer. Edge needs to be in the back row with Porom while Cecil, Kain, and Yang are all in the front row. Porom will be busy healing. Keep everyone alive as best you can. It can be done.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Kain in the front row. Porom and Edge in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

Awful. Two back row fighters and three front row fighters. You lack any type of caster which will hurt you significantly in the end. Not even the three best defenders in the game are enough to protect Edward and Edge in this party. Your Health Points will drop drastically on the last few floors without casters and I do not expect anyone to survive beyond that point with this team.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Cid, and Kain in the front row. Edward and Edge in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

Not very good. You have the three best defenders, a back row fighter in Edge, and an offensive caster in Palom. Great. You're covered as far as damage potential is concerned. You're not in very good shape though once the more lethal and intelligent monsters begin showing up at the end floors. Expect both Palom and Edge to drop quickly and your front line fighters to follow shortly without a healer. Don't bother, you won't make it unless maybe if you are maxed out.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Cid, and Kain in the front row. Palom and Edge in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

This group can pull off a victory if set up properly in the formation. Porom is your healer so keep her in the back row with Edge who can fight from back there while Cecil, Cid, and Kain form the line of defense in the front row. You should be ready to go from there, and this is a party worth looking into.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Cid, and Kain in the front row. Porom and Edge in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

This group has too many people that need to be in the back row. Cecil and Kain are the only ones able to be in the front line in this party. What's the big problem here? No healer. Edge, Edward, and Palom are all going to need one by the time you're at the end. If you even make it there. Two front line fighters aren't enough protection and the lack of a healer hurts you more. Not a good lineup.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Kain in the front row. Edward, Palom, and Edge in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

This party has a healer, Porom, who will be busy healing. Three of the members need to be in the back row, so Cecil and Kain will need to be able to withstand a lot of damage in the front row as they fight. Edge and Edward can fight in the back row. They can get the job done, you might struggle a little though.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Kain in the front row. Edward, Porom, and Edge in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

An excellent party. This is the canonical final party but with Palom and Porom replacing Rydia and Rosa respectively. Cecil and Kain are the line of defense as they fight from the front row. Edge can fight up there too if you wish, but he's better off fighting from the back when possible. The twins are your healer and offensive caster. This is very balanced and is a highly recommended party. Want an alternative to the canonical team? This party is for you.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Kain in the front row. Palom, Porom, and Edge in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Very Good.

A party that sounds a lot more fun on paper than they actually are to play as. You have no casters which will eventually cause a number of problems. Edward needs to be in the back row although he will not last long. Kain will have to be in the back row with Edward as you cannot have 4 front row fighters and neither Yang nor Cid can effectively fight in the back row. Your damage potential is up there, but this group brings nothing else to the table.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Cid in the front row. Kain and Edward in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

A party that is quite deadly, as long as they can stay alive. You have no healer. Your offensive caster will be begging for a healer by the time you're in the last few floors and his Health Points get low from the monster attacks. Your fighters will eventually need healing too. See the common problem here? A lethal offensive strategy can only take you so far and this group will struggle a lot. Kain needs to go in the back row with Palom if you do want to try this party. Yang and Cid both must be in the front row.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Cid in the front row. Kain and Palom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

Party combination #102: Cecil, Kain, Yang, Cid, Porom

A party that most monster groups should be terrified of. You have four powerful fighters, one of which who can fight in the protection of a back row position, and a healer who can keep them alive while seeing nearly endless protection herself. The one and only problem with this party is it has no offensive caster and there may come a time when you need one. If you liked Cecil/Kain/Yang/Cid/Rosa then this is an alternative you will be sure to also like. I recommend giving this party a try.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Cid in the front row. Kain and Porom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

A party offers a significant challenge, it lacks a healer so you probably won't be able to make it. The inclusion of Edward and Palom does not do any further favors as their low defense stats will make you need a healer all the more. Cecil, Yang, and Kain provide a strong line of defense, but eventually everyone's Health Points will run low and you're in trouble once that happens.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Kain in the front row. Edward and Palom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

An interesting party that has a strong line of defense provided by the three best attackers in the game. You also have a back row fighter in Edward and a healer in Porom. This party can get the job done, so if you want to give it a try then go ahead, you might like it. Just make sure that Edward and Porom are in the back row or else you might not stand a chance.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Kain in the front row. Edward and Porom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

An awesome party! It is an alternative version of Cecil/Rosa/Rydia/Kain/Yang which was the party you used in the Tower of Bab-il. Palom and Porom replace Rydia and Rosa respectively in this party's lineup. It is almost as effective as that party. The twins are outclassed by Rosa and Rydia in their respective schools of magic, but they are still able to make this an incredibly useful party. The three best attackers in the game at the front row with an offensive caster and a healer in the back row. This is one of the best parties and I highly recommend you try it.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Kain in the front row. Palom and Porom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Very Good.

A party that has an excellent line of defense for the back row attacker and the offensive caster. They will struggle without the support of a healer though, ultimately leading me to not recommend this party. They have the three best defenders but even they will need healing at some point. Edward and Palom's odds of survival are low.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Cid, and Kain in the front row. Palom and Edward in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Bad.

This is an interesting party. You do lack an offensive caster, so you might struggle against enemies requiring magical abilities to defeat them unless Porom can afford to cast Holy. The three best defenders (Cecil, Kain, Cid) are there to defend the back row attacker in Edward and the healer in Porom.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Cid, and Kain in the front row. Porom and Edward in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Average.

A balanced party that I like. The inclusion of both twins takes care of your offensive caster and healer needs. The three remaining members can form the perfect line of defense for the casters. Highly recommended.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Cid, and Kain in the front row. Porom and Palom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Very Good.

A balanced party that you might want to try if you want a challenge. Edward needs to fight from the back row and you never want casters in the front, so that leaves Cecil and Kain as the only defenders fighting in the front row. You do have a healer and offensive caster at least. It's worth looking into if you want a bit of challenge with a party that still ultimately gets the job done in the end.

Recommended Formation
Cecil and Kain in the front row. Porom, Edward, and Palom in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Good.

Party combination #110: Cecil, Edge, Yang, Cid, Edward

A horrible party. You lack any type of caster which means not only will you struggle against enemies requiring magical abilities to defeat, but once your party members get weak you have no healer to heal them. Edge and Edward can fight from the back row luckily, but their odds of survival are incredibly low. Yang and Cid are likely not going to last much longer either. Don't bother with this team. It sounds a lot better on paper than it actually is.

Recommended Formation
Cecil, Yang, and Cid in the front row. Edge and Edward in the back row.

Overall Thoughts
Very Bad.
