Elder Scrolls V Thread

Oblivion Game of the Year Edition has been $30 for a while in stores, if I'm not mistaken. That gets you a couple extra quests.

I bought Oblivion GOTY Edition today at GameStop for $20. I figured it would be a good trial run to see if I like it before purchasing Elder Scrolls. And if I get addicted to it, I'm blaming you :)

Can't blame me, I warned everyone. :)

And you will be addicted. It's that amazing. It's even more amazing when you consider Oblivion is nearly 5 years old.

I'm very tempted to give this game a go, but I'm going to heed the warnings of everyone and hold off and getting it until I'm out of classes. Can't risk a distraction that big entering my life.

Shut the fuck up Milenko. You know you've sucked the dick and liked it. Thats why you broke up with your girlfriend, her dick was bigger than yours and you didn't like that.

Found two quick tricks for anyone who is intrested in Smithing and lockpicking

Power smithing.
Power smithing is basic, you take iron ingots and leather strips create daggers. You gain a small amount of money from this. Basicaly go to whiterun after hitting up all the mines you can. Buy iron ore from them and the ingots you can. Go go go

A pick at the top of the throat of the world will give you +1 to smithing. Go to the top, it will be laying by the Ebony ores. Notched Pickaxe is what you are looking for. But just a regular one will do you just fine. This is a small tip for Noobs like me.

Lockpicking
Tonilia in the T guild will sell you around 30 Lp's after every reset. Dwemer Museum in Markarth is a monster place to level this up. I went from mid 60's to 75 in my run. Many adept locks and Experts here. Pretty shitty pickups, but if you are just in it to level up like I was you should have fun. Just kill all the guards if you don't care, then you have a free run through the whole place. Also for smithers this place has alot of Scrap metal and parts for D-ingots.

This is my first game in the series, but I'm having tons of fun. Hopefully this helps newer people out like me. I got Mw3 the day it came out, then picked up Skyrim on the 11th and haven't touched mw3. Great fucking game.

Congrats on killing your first dragon.

Here's a general tip for combat for people new to the series:

When you're in combat, do the opposite. Meaning, do the opposite of what your enemy is doing. If you're going up against a heavy magic user, lay into them with cold, hard steel. If they attack with fire, they're usually weak against ice, and vice-versa. The exception would be dragons. If you're going up against a warrior, attack with magic.

Here's where I'm at right now...

I've mostly been completing Companions quests recently. I've just become the new Harbinger for the companions, and I've just gotten engaged to Aela the Huntress.

Hot Nord Warrior Chick + war paint = Even Hotter Nord Warrior Chick!!

The landscape in the north, paricularly near the Tomb of Ysgramor, is stunning. I entered the tomb at about 1 am. but was attacked by a blood dragon who handed me my ass. When in doubt, run your ass off! I'll be getting married today, and I'll probably start some missions with the Thieves Guild.

Slyfox also posted a tried-and-true tip when you're facing a difficult enemy, just switch the game to novice mode! lol
