Pretty much. Teams have their own academies to produce young players but particularly in football they rely on buying players from other teams but not necessarily in the same way as American sports teams.

From what I understand, aside from the draft, transfers between teams in America depend more on contract wages and maybe getting someone in a trade. Now we are now into the era of a football player being paid £5-10million a year but for a transfer between clubs the first hurdle is an agreement of a transfer fee between the clubs before contract negotiations can take place. For example, my team Liverpool recently sold one of our best players for £50 million. The world record is £80 million.

Sounds like a guy that should be put out on the field, given the ball in the first play and told to run with it and see how quickly he gets mauled to take him down a peg or two

Seriously, I've had it for 3 years and never took it. It was originlly for a root canal, but now since I'm dealing with back issues, I've kept it on hand. My back was stiff from a stressful 13 hour office day. Really I just need deep sleep and stress relief, and 10mg's of Melatonin wasn't cutting the mustard.
