Best and Worst finishers in WWE history

My Top 5 currently:

RKO(can hit it on someone out of nowhere, just looks awesome)

GTS(looks absolutely brutal)

Swanton Bomb(when done by Jeff Hardy, it's such a great move, anyone else....meh)

Backcracker(Again, just looks brutal, and can be done anywhere)

Tombstone(Just for the legacy behind it)

Worst 5:

Pedigree(used to be a favourite of mine, but now HHH releases out of it halfway through and it looks weak, easy to reverse too)

Running Bulldog(ugh, just give Cody the Bionic Elbow)

Playmaker(takes so long to set up it can't be a winning move, can't see MVP winning a World Title with it)

Curb Stomp(So dangerous and difficult to execute)

619(the fact that Rey has to do a move after it tells you how weak it is)

I'm sure there's plenty more but that's all that comes off the top of my head

The best one was the stunner. Simply because Austin could use it out of no-where, and get a HUGE reaction from the fans, because of the shock value. You would hear people going "he just pulled the stunner from no-where!!", whereas you don't hear people say "he pulled the stomp thing from no-where!!" (Burchill's finishing move). His move is the worst in the WWE. Just plain shit.

The Spear is terrible.

Chokeslam is overused. At least three current main eventers use it regularly in the WWE??

RKO is cool. Stealth.

Sweet Chin Music - not as good as its hyped. well executed though at times.

Pedigree - meh. Surely HHH can do better.

Tombstone is OK. But not as good as it used to look.

619 is a finisher? heh. Rey should just do a frogsplash.

Samoan Spike - nice, especially after all the power moves that precede it. Umaga is cool.

Clothesline from Hell - basic brute force. Like it.

Playmaker - original but weak.

Swanton - looks painful and unnecessary.

THE BEST however, has to be the Crippler Crossface of the late great Chris Benoit. A great submission manoeuver that always looked believable.

Hey guys I'm sorry but would everyone please stop calling it the Mic Check, it's called the Flatliner and Kanyon innovated it back in like 98, and yeah it's good!

My pick is Impaler DDT, I watched and old Edge match on youtube and that move is awesome, simple yet effective version of an old favourite!

BEST
Rock Bottom (because being dumped on your neck and back has never felt to forgiving)

People's Elbow (reasons: Crowd-Hype; and think of all the force the Rock drives into that unique elbow drop)

Stone Cold Stunner (snapped neck anyone)

Chokeslam (Masked Kane) - really to get tossed down to the floor with as much force as Kane put into it? He used his hand on his knee as a brace to apply more force...NASTY!

Sweet Chin Music - get kicked in the mouth by surprise and tell me if you think it's still a sorry finisher.

F-5 - Lesnar using it, nuff said...

Jackhammer - the blood rushing to your head, just to have you get dumped on it...

The Pedigree - Anyone see the old clip of when he first did it to a no-name Jeff Hardy?

WORST
F-U - A garbage death valley driver, how it gets the 3 counts, it will remain a mystery.

Overdrive - Randy Orton's rookie finisher - makes my kneecap hurt just thinking about it.

619 - I don't need a reason, it's just that flaming...

Masterlock- a couple of vicious knees to the back followed by a devastating slam would've possibly done wonders.

Cody Rhodes's Elbow Drop - he's garbage anyway...

Hogan's Leg Drop - There's nothing Immortal about that soggy looking leg drop...The Rock made it look even remotely decent.

Bearhug - Bearhugs are just gay...

Best - Morrisons Neck Breaker, Paul Londons Shooting Star, Burchills C-4, Ultimo Dragons DDT, Walls of Jericho(with whole body arched), GTS(when done by KENTA), Dragon Suplex, Double Underhook Piledriver, Jamaican Buzzsaw
Worst - Chokeslam, Powerbomb, final cut, FU, playmaker...etc

The best finisher is would have to be Sweet Chin Music or the RKO they can both be pulled out of nowhere and dont need to be set up quick and effective, An honerable mention goes to Slice bread #2 i think it is just like a reversed DDT but looks good if pulled off correctly.

The worst would have to be The FU if someone was to do that in real life all the other person would do is get up and knock you out the smell of my socks are more effective then that move. How on earth can you pin someone for a three count after a single FU. a Dishonareble mension goes to all most every move off the top rope. they are almost always reversible and look god awful sometimes.

best: Rockbottom, Stone cold stunner, Jackhammer, F-5, Pedigree, Steiner Screwdriver, Jacknife powerbomb, Chokeslam, Last Ride, Tombstone Piledriver, Front Russian Legsweep, Downward Spiral, Clothesline from hell, Dominator, Impaler, Five Star Frog Splash, 450 splash, X-factor, Fameasser, Razors Edge, 3-D, Unprettier, Reverse Death Valley Driver, Crippler Crossface, Diamond Dust, Saving Grace, Sweet chin Music.

Worst: The FU = "Fucking Useless".... The worm, bearhug, its not a finisher, but i hate Umaga's 10 minute nerve hold, and samoan spike, 619, Road dogg's Shake Rattle And Roll, five knuckle shuffle= it was made up like 30 years ago, called the fist drop...

Basicly the Worst Finish Ever is: When ever john cena wins....

one of the best wrestling finisheers ever in my opinion would be between the chokeslam or the shooting star press

the worst ever would be the batista bomb it is just a sit out powerbomb but batista pumps himself up with steriods before he does it

Best: F-5, RKO, Gore(On a table), Sweet Chin Music, Running Moonlight Drive(Has more impact), Shooting Star press, 5 Star Frog Splash, Swanton Bomb, Stunner, People's Elbow(Had a lot of energy)
Worst: GTS(I dare him to do it on BDV), Green Bay Plunge, Codebreaker, Pumphandle Slam

Best Finishers: Sweet Chin Music, Stone Cold Stunner and RKO (or Diamond Cutter, for old schoolers ;) ) for the aforementioned reasons that they can be pulled out of nowhere; F-5 was pretty cool too... and so is the Last Ride, best thing that came out of Taker's Biker-gimmick; that thing just looks really nasty. Honorable mentions also to the Jackhammer and Crippler Crossface.

Worst Finishers: Hogan's Leg Drop (c'mon it's a freakin' LEG DROP), Warrior Splash (aite, the Gorilla Press Up Slam before it was ok since not so many guys were doing it back then, but c'mon it's a freakin' RUNNING BIG SPLASH!!!) and The People's Elbow (aite it was usually fun to watch but c'mon it's a FREAKING ELBOW DROP!!) So even if I love that move since it is fun, it still must be the single worst finisher in WWE History - at least, Warrior used to land with his full weight, and Hogan at least with part of his weight on someone's body - but Rock was never that massive, and he planted just an elbow on the chest... unless they had sold it like he was hitting the solar plexus or something, it is just ridiculous for ANYONE to lose to an Elbow Drop...

Also, I think the FU is pretty crappy... that's just a modified Fireman's Carry... a FIREMAN'S CARRY!!!

My favorite finishers: Stone Cold Stunner, F-5, Rock Bottom, Sweet Chin Music, Pedigree, Kane's Chokeslam, Kurt Angle's Ankle Lock, Bret Hart's Sharpshooter. Probably forgetting some.

My least favorute finishers: Hogan's Leg Drop, The Worm, Bear Hugs, Khali's bullshit.

Best:
Sweet chin music, tombstone, Stone Cold Stunner, RKO, Ankle Lock, Sharpshooter, Clothesline from Hell, Not many people talk about this one but Yokozuna's Banzai Drop

Worst:
Playmaker, Samoan Spike, Walls of Jericho(come on people its a boston crab), FU(doesnt look like it hurts at all), 619, People's Elbow, Big Show's chokeslam

The clothesline from hell... really? It's just a clothesline! If we're talking best, let's mean creative and convincing. The Playmaker is creative enough, both in name and actual move. I don't think anyone in the WWE or WCW ever used that as their finisher.

I remember when the Walls of Jericho was an elevated boston crab that looked damn effective.

I agree with you on the FU, though. It's a Goddamn elevated fireman's carry! I don't get why Cena never used the Death Valley Driver instead, it's set up the same way and delivered pretty similarly, except the opponent is dropped on his head so i looks more effective.

The 619 is probably the most creative finisher a main eventer has created/introduced in WWE history and perfectly hitting for the style of its user. It's one of a kind and no one in the WWE and/or WVW, or TNA for that matter uses it so it's synonymous with Rey Mysterio, therefore making it good.

The Sweet Chin Music is a superkick, used pretty commonly past and present, HBK just made it famous. Same goes for the RKO and ankle lock.

The Stunner is an exception; it's damn simplistic but Austin transcends the common wrestler, like Hogan and Rock who have less than impressive finishers so it doesn't matter.

The best you listed are The Tombstone, which I believe Undertaker introduced to the WWF as a finisher before anyone else, the Sharpshooter and the Banzai Drop. All creative, effective and fitting to their characters.

I agree, the Samoan Spike is ridiculous, Umaga has such a rich list of effective maneuvers, I don't know why that's his finisher. Big Show's Chokeslam is pretty generic, he's a big guy, not much he can do.

Here's my list of best and worst, I'm only naming three...

The Best:
MUscle Buster
Tombstone Piledriver
Vertabreaker

The Worst:
The Worm: Yeah, seriously. There's no way a wrestler would just lie there and wait for some dork to do a dance move, only to do a damn chop to the throat!
The Dudley Dog AKA Sliced Bread #2: It looks like it hurts the recipient less than it does the wrestler delivering it and that's just plain nuts.
If the Five-Knuckle Shuffle is considered a finisher, that too. No way is Cena as big as Rock or Hogan to be able to get away with ridiculous looking moves.

Best: The (Animal & Heidenreich) Doomsday Device, The Rated RKO, 3D, and The Orton-Cena F-KO.

Worst: The Golden Hip ( a video game finisher where the diva shakes her hips and the superstar flies back and bleeds), Debra's Boobs, and "Hulking Up".

best-tombstone piledriver(finishes everybody), canadian destroyer(looks mad, even tho fake), last ride(powerbomb except from higher up), sweet chin music(looks real, c'mon hav u ever been kicked in the face), shooting star press(seeing evan bourne do it was sick, looks amazing).

worst- chokeslam(overused), playmaker(weakest thing i've ever seen), samoan spike(Fuckin ridiculous), vice grip(creative couldn't hav thought of a worse move), world's strongest slam(looks weak for someone who's supposed to b strong) and edge's spear(the guy isn't that big).

@Playmaker - I don't think it's that bad either... alright, it takes long to set up, but so does the Pedigree (with HHH having to lock both arms in a chicken wing position, which usually takes pretty long); I kind of can compare those two moves to each other in that way. The move itself is the Overdrive, isn't it?

@Walls of Jericho: Yeah, when Y2J was doing it old school style (like the Liontamer in WCW, or the Walls early in WWE), it looked REALLY nasty... I dunno why he gave up doing the move that way; was it too taxing on the opponents neck and spine?

The best finishers are, in my opinion, one that looks good and looks like it actually hurts, and is not a rip off a normal move.

Best finishers - sharpshooter, pedigree, stunner, crossface, vertebraker, spear, STFU
worst finishers - clothesline from hell, sweet chin music (both are rip offs of clothesline and superkick respectively), FU (a body slam seems to hurt more), Playmaker (doesn't look like it hurts).

If MVP turned it into a different style of overdriver it might be better.Maybe just do it like a fame asser and just drop his leg on his oppenetts head.

Best finishers: RKO, Stunner and Sweet Chin Music because they can be pulled out of nowhere. I love the vertebreaker, muscle buster and finlays celtic cross (i remember when he used to use the tombstone back in the day) GTS is a pretty solid move too

Worst Finishers: Playmaker/overdrive is possibly the worst finisher next to khalis chop and the samoan spike, at least they are all better than hogans leg drop and warriors splash

Best Finishers- Goldberg Spear and JackHammer, Austins Stunner. Harts Sharpshooter, Beniot's Cripplers Crossface,Takers Tombstone, Luger's Torcher Rack, and Nash's jacknife.

Worst- Razors Edge, F-U, Macho's flying elbow, Hogans leg drop, Million Dollar Dream (sleeper hold), People's Elbow, And Owen Harts Tombstone on Austin.

Best: Testdrive, Egotrip, Stunner, Farroq's Dominator, Hass of pain, The Stroke, ankle lock.

Worst: Worm, FU, 619, Franchise(jawbraker), Big boot, Powerbomb, chokeslam

worst fu, finger poke of doom used by hogan, masterlock, samoan spike, 619, stinkface

Best pedigree, rko, sweetchim music, shooting star press, figure four leg lock

yeah best rko, stunner, chokeslam (when done well- on x-pac example), canadian destroyer, jack hammer, spear (gore)

worst- peoples elbow, worm, samoan spike, khali chop,

what about tag team finishes- elimination (eliminators) 3d, er cant think of others

Best: Canadian Destroyer, Scorpion Deathlock/Sharpshooter, Sweet Chin Music, Stone Cold Stunner, Styles Clash, Tombstone (done by the Undertaker, anyone else with maybe the exception of Kane just screws it up), Figure Four Leglock, Cradle Shock, Pedigree. Pretty much anything that looks less like show and more like hurt is a great finisher.

Worst: The Worm, 619, any kind of sneak finish like the small package (try to say that without laughing...lol), Big Boot, Big Leg Drop, Bronco Buster (utterly ridiculous), Shattered Dreams (hurts way to much to watch), Stink Face or any other move where its simply some dude stickin his butt in your face, Mandible Claw (I just dont get it... Foley's double arm DDT is much better).

To add to Jacks tag team finishes: Doomsday Device, Steinerized, anything done by the Rockers, Poetry in Motion (yea.. I know seems like Im contradicting myself but I believe it has the right amount of show and hurt), The PowerPlex from the 80s, Death Sentence (AMW), Tornado Plex, Crack in the mouth (D&D, that move just looks plain brutal).
