Speaking of Human to Human trades, hows Sims-Walker working out? Charles Johnson is working great for me.
As for our new member sure I can wait a little longer as I'll be exceedingly busy today
First, thank you for allowing INDYjon the chance to sign up. Like I said on xbox live though, if he is
not signed up by tonight before 7p.m. (central, ish) then go ahead and play. Our deadline is set for Monday and I don't want anyone having to intentionally wait - especially when we aren't 100% sure any new players are definitely coming in.
Not to mention, in the AFC a Wildcard (human) team has a much better shot at making the Playoffs than an NFC one does.
And finally, if Charles Johnson is working wonderfully for you - then our trade has definitely helped BOTH of us. Mike (Sims-) Walker has been nothing but amazing for me. He's currently tied for 3rd 'look' behind Owens and Smith, and tied with my TE Barnidge for looking for them open.
I agree. I wasn't saying I was gonna trade him for a superstar player. I was just worried that you weren't gonna allow us to try and trade them ever, just because we signed them this offseason. I don't expect to get 100 cents on the dollar for him when (and if) I get rid of him in the offseason or next season.
In real life, teams would prefer to trade the player because they can get out from the contract and whatever cap ramifications come from cutting him. And teams getting the player would sometimes rather trade because they don't have to worry about another team butting in and taking the player.
Although, if the "Backup" is of starter quality, an NFL team would consider trading a starter for the guy. Imagine if the Panthers tried to trade Jonathan Stewart (technically a backup), you can't tell me that the other NFL teams wouldn't offer a starting caliber player (or a round 1 draft pick) for him, just because he is #2 on the depth chart. Unfortunately, we can't trade draft picks, otherwise this wouldn't be a problem (LJ for a 2 or a 3 is fair).
There are 2 scenarios that I can see in a potential trade during the offseason.
1. I trade him for a lesser guy (as you explained in your rules), which is likely.
2. I trade him for a guy in a similar situation on another team. For example (I'm not doing this specifically, just citing an example), the Ravens backup fullback is an 83 or 84 overall. They are in a similar situation that I am in with Johnson, in that the backup isn't gonna see the field, and is good enough to start elsewhere.
First, to clarify, Stewart is a 91 ovr and also a 'back-up', which means if another Cpu team has a back-up thats hugely rated in a similar way then yes, as long as the player you're trading falls into the rules of 10pts, or 5pts difference, then thats fine.
As for the draft pick trading, I as well wish we could do it, but haven't yet figured out how. I refuse to allow a cpu team to draft someone then allow a human to take that future star from them, without giving them a very powerful player in return.
Actually, I don't mind if you just give the CPU teams a chance to sign a guy at he end of each round (instead of mixing them up with human players). If you tried to mix them in with human players, we would have to wait until you got on every day to make our free agent moves. If you put them after the last human player, then it moves quicker. Also, not exery CPU team needs to sign somebody. I just don't want the computer to cut 4e players and not replace them, because soon they will be down below the minimum number of players.
I had already thought about signing players to them, to replace guys that get cut. Which is another reason why I only cut maybe 5 overall STARTING players. And the rest were guys that would've become expendable to begin with.
I still would prefer to have to cut a good player or 2. Otherwise, we will never get rid of anybody. I doubt that I can find a human team that can't cut 1 guy in the 80's. Sometimes, teams cut guys that are starting for them.
I agree with this as well.. however, no one else is up for it mainly because of like Ty pointed out (and if you haven't noticed, Marquis' Saints roster is lacking majorly as well) only a couple human players have enough great stars, or even good, to want to cut any others.
On a side note, I cut Josh Cribbs because he wasn't fitting into my system on returns now that I have a better returner, via speed. And I'm not needing him on my WR core, so he was useless to me.. and cut.
