Foley being there made sense. What didn't make sense was acting like it's going to be some big, violent Cell match in the vein of Foley's days. No one buys that and it shows horribly.

It was pretty obvious he was trying to strike an emotional nerve. Foley was showing his concern and admiration towards each. They segment had a decent point but its late in the game to get all serious.
