Wrestlezone Tournament Discussion

How is the legend that is Kenta Kobashi this low in the tournament I will never Know. He is a Legit threat to everyone he is up against Idon't give acrap if he is Hogan that he is up against Kenta is a legit threat to every single person in this tournament. Remember that and look at his matches he could quite possibly out wrestle both Kurt Angle and Tom Billington in one match.

A lot of people haven't heard of him or seen many his matches though, that is why he's so low in this thing, I haven't seen to many of his matches myself, I think I've seen him wrestle a match in ROH, and that's the only way I know about him, keep in mind a lot of us don't get a chance to see a lot of wrestles from Japan unless they work for a major promotion like WWE, TNA, and all though it's not a major promotion, ROH

From what I've seen and heard he is a great wrestler though, I'm curious about that match of the year he had with Samoa Joe, wouldn't mind seeing that

I agree about the Kobashi problem. On the same level as Road Dogg? That seems a little off to me too. BUt it will be interesting to say the least. I guess its due to his lack of exposure in this country, which is sad.

He'll go out early. I don't think that anybody other than me or you will vote for him. It's sad but because he doesn't wrestle in America (frequently anyway) or he's never been part of WWE then he pretty much stands no chance. He'll get knocked out by somebody like Road Dogg or Snitzky. A lot of people on this board are ignorant to wrestling outside America.

Unfortunately, I think your right. Here stateside though, it's pretty sad. Like I've said before, the only thing I was exposed to growing up was the WWF, NWA/WCW, ECW, AWA, SMW, and MCW. Those are the only federations that got any play. Most of us here stateside didn't know what a luchadore was until the funny short guys in masks showed up in WCW in 1995. I think that can be said about most of us over here. I live in a fairly large city in Cincinnati, and that's the only exposure we got. I would imagine guys living on the west coast had more exposure to AAA and promotions like it, but I still think the Japanese stuff is non existent here.

All that being said, even though he didn't make my personal top 100, Kobashi is still the man and will be getting my votes. I've done enough research on the guy to realize he's top 10 material of the last 20 years. I know it doesn't make sense as far as my top 100 and all that go.

Dosnt Ron Simmons look young?

On a serouis note-I have seen Kenta Kobashi wrestle. What a hard mother f****er.And the way he beat cancer.

You have to see some of his matches.Stuff of legend.Road Dogg isn,t good enough to clean his boots.

In my opinion I think it's great that somebody who isn't even in Kobashi's league will knock him out. Same with the seeds. If you have people higher up and don't really deserve to be in that position then it makes for better discussion. That's what pissed me off about the end of year awards. Instead of discussing why somebody was left off the poll they just complained. Instead of stating WHY they should be the best wrestler, have the best title reign etc.

I've seen several of Kobashi's match on YouTube, etc. in addition to other wrestling in South America and Japan but I'll admit I'm fairly ignorant towards any wrestling outside the United States. My guess who'll he be eliminated by: Gillberg. He'll be on a high after knocking out the ROH world champion.

In all honesty though, I think there are enough members willing to pretend they know a lot about Kobashi in order to put him past the likes of Road Dogg. Is that how you spell it? It always was a pretty stupid name. Same could be said for Hulk Hogan I suppose...

FINALLY! The greatest heel in the last 20 years of pro wrestling (hyperbole) has made his appearance. Yokozuna in the house! BANZAI!

Seriously, the man was a monster. He'll make a great deal of noise is this tourney. I am not sure when I became the advocate for Superheavyweight Supremacy, but his agility, power, and size makes him a tough draw.

Thank God he's not in the TNA Region. I think he can handle the extreme rules - man is tough and knows how to cheat. Then again, it's easier to knock down an oak tree with a weapon than a fist or a foot.

Wow.....agree with Irishcandian25 up there yokozuna! How he was not up there ealier i,ll never know.Don,t care what anyone says carlito is a good wreslter and deseveres his spot.Bauckland ruined himself in TNA.

Vince McMahon?! I didn't even know he was eligible to be put on the list, let alone get 172 points lol. Bruno Sammartino deserved to be higher, but since our picks was based on 1980-Present, his best days were behind him when he was still wrestling in the early 80s. I am surprised to see Hernandez make the cut and higher than Carlito too, that's pretty impressive considering he hasn't been in much singles action and is overshadowed by Homicide.

I was amazed to find that Backlund could easily keep up with Alex Shelley, even after all these years. The man's in great shape. I for one didn't know much about Backlund but looked him up a few months ago. I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat, and should do the same.

He also has the amazing honour of teaching Angle the Cross Face Chicken Wing. Actually, he probably stole it from Angle when the latter travelled back in time, but what are you going to do?

Wow....Haas on the same level as Nitro?Wow.I think Nitro is way underated.Goldust?Higher than someone like One Man Gang?WTF?All Goldust has done is wear make up.

You forget that he was also Black Reign, the greatest wrestler in TNA's six year history. And he was in the nWo. Or he wanted to be in the nWo. Never mind, it was a shit stable anyway. The immortal Goldust, my favourite to win the entire thing.

Can't remember if I had McMahon on my list. I think I did. As a wrestler, he's not awful. As a character, he's amazing.

EDIT: Are we even half way through yet? The Angle sig will have to go back up soon.

I'm going to do everything in my power to get the OMG as far in this tournament as possible. Not only was he the One Man Gang, possibly the best big man gimmick of all time. But he was also Akeem. Which was just like totally awesome.

I pride my self on knowing the old school along with todays talent. However I do not get to see hardly any ROH or know many of the Japanese wrestlers. I am going to look up Nigel and Kobashi. Keep the opinions going. I like to know the right way to vote. If I don't know or heard of someone then I wouldn't vote for them but thanks to the posts these are two I will look up.
Great to see the Hammer and One Man Gang finally.

Where Is Batista

Well there is just so much talent maybe he,ll be down near the bottom of the 265?

Yes!Some people respect Jamie Nobles wrestling abilty!Sweet god yes!

Lethal and Sandman were 2 nice treats that brighted up my day.I hope The Briscoes do well in there region as they are really underrated.

Every single person in the top 30 seeds is a good wreslter. No complaints.

With any luck, he's dead. I know I didn't give him any points, the roided up prick with the skill of a brick. (Hey, that rhymed).

Anyway, great to see some talented guys still coming out. Noble can wrestle, it's a shame he always gets crappy angles. Also, I see where I made a difference. I put Jay Briscoe one place above Mark in my top 100. Therefore, giving him one more point. If i'd put them the other way around, Jay would be fighting in the TNA region, while Mark would be getting ploughed down in the ECW region by The Deadman. Poor Jay. I liked him as well. That's why I gave him the extra point.

And onto the #31 Seeds.
