Weak looking finishers.

They wouldn't be able to, becuase they would be knocked the fuck out, or dead. Everyone saying Big Shows punch or Regal's knee trembler are idiots. Those are some of the most legit finishers in the WWE. If you have the largest athlete on earth PUNCH YOU IN THE FUCKING HEAD you will be DONE in a fight, hello.

As has been said, the 619 and Playmaker are both shit. Both are silly as fuck to set up, and dont look the least bit painfull, and wouldnt BE the least bit painfull if done to you in a legit fight.

There's two things to consider when it comes to Big Show's KO Punch. First off, closed fists are supposed to be illegal in wrestling. I know no one obeys that rule anyway, but a little consistency would be nice. Second, if he can knock someone out with one punch, why doesn't he just do it at the start of the match? Or why is it only the one time he throws a punch? Why not any time before the finish?

You're right with the rest of that, though.

Fair enough, unfortunately nothing you just said discounts the strength/weakness of the move, only of the logic of the booking and rules in general in WWE.

Has nothing to do with the fact that if Mr.King kong punches you as hard as he can right in the fucking face, you would be lucky to live, let alone not be injured weeks, LET ALONE finish a match.

I know it's been said a million times in this thread but the playmaker is an abomination of a finisher. It just has no impact, it gets no crowd reaction and it's got to be really hard to sell effectively. I think the same can be said for the skull crushing finale. I mean it hardly looks skull crushing.

Also, concerning the above to and fro concerning the KO punch, I've got to say it's a real good finisher. Granted, it can be booked illogically but this can be the case with a lot of other good finishers too. I know I wouldn't want to be punched in the face by the Big Show and that should go for everyone.

i dont know if anyone has said but the ultimate warriors splash is a fucking joke, how is that meant to get a 3 count?i know this was in the 90s but when he returned in europe 2 years ago? he used it,that move is a joke.

I have always thought the idea of finishing moves was sorta illogical. Sure it gives wrestlers an image. It builds anticipation. Shawn Micheals tuning up the band still gets me to this day. But it just doesn't make sense any more. It's so scripted in the ring that you can see it coming. You know exactly what moves are coming, and what's going to happen next. But realistically, if the Attitude Adjustment was really going to knock somebody out, why not doing it right away? This is especially a good question when it comes to finishers it's easy to hit.
If you look back the best days of wrestling, the guys went out of their way to be unpredictable. And so I believed they were really fighting each other. It really looked like the other guy didn't see the finisher coming. HBK is the only guy I can think of that still does that. He'll go for SCM any time in a match, and it's exciting. I just hate waiting 15 minutes knowing Mysterio is going to hit the 619, or Cena's going to hit 3 Attitude Adjustments. It doens't make sense. Not to mention that most of the moves they do are more physically damaging than their finishers.

I do believe that closed fist punches are now legal in the WWE. I think Wrestlezone's main page covered that a while back. I think that Show's KO Punch is pretty good. They always make mention of how his hands are like frying pans, then why wouldn't a punch from a trained boxer with a frying pan like right knock hand you out? To answer you other question, the reason that he does't throw it at the start is because he throws it so slow that most anyone can dodge it. He has to hit it mid match with the element of surprise so that they do not have enough reaction time to stop it. Although when he hits it, it is nighty night for whoever is unfortunate enough to receive it.

I find the 619 to be ridiculous because the kick might hurt, but it takes so long to set it up.

I also loathe Darren Young's Full Nelson flip into a facecrusher move. It is just ridiculous to think that a right handed man could have the power to flip a full grown man with his weak arm completely over.

I don't get why people are saying the Killswitch looks weak. If you had that hit on you in real life, chances are you may see some injuries on you. Now, here are my weak-looking finishers.

1) 619. Need I explain?

2) The Pedigree. I'm talking about the more recent Pedigrees that Triple H has been executing. He does the basics, but when he jumps up into the air, he pushes his opponent about five feet away from him and it just doesn't look as devastating as it used to be.

3) Swanton Bomb. Jeff Hardy isn't that big of a guy, so him plopping down onto someone like Henry, Khali or Show and taking them out for the three-count is just not believable.

4) The Paydirt.

5) Koslov's headbutt. This had to have been the most sloppiest finisher I have ever seen. It's not even a headbutt 90% of the time: He makes the motion to make a headbutt, but either hits them on the chest, or shoves them away.

I can't belive anyone said the worst finisher of them all! The worm. yeah its just a dance move with a slap on the chest at the end.

another finisher i dont like anymore is the tombstone piledriver. yes its a devastating move. but it looks like a 69 into a piledriver.

and some of the posters say rko looks weak idk i still consider it my favorite finisher.

but anyway here are some wrestlers finishers should be.

John Cena = the Additude adjustment looks like a fireman carry drop. i think cena should use the death valley driver.

Big Show = the K.O. punch yeah its great at first. now its just lame. bigshow should just use the chokeslam.

Edge = spear . ok move but not for edge. i think he should use the edgeucuiton as a finisher.

Maybe I missed this and apologize if I did...but it has to be mentioned...

Hulk Hogan's Big Boot/Leg Drop. How many Prime WWF/E members did he take out for the 3 count following a basic move? Sort of ridiculous if you ask me...

Haven't read all the posts so sorry if I repeat.

Darren Young. His finisher just lookss to be a flap jack. Weak at that. He's a big dude, give him a big dude finiisher.
Christian's Killswitch just bugs the shit outta me. It's so obviously easy to counter and looks totally unbelievable most of the time. For such a great wrestler it's a shame that this is his finisher.
MVP's playmaker is just fucking stupid. Enuff said.
Undertaker's Hells gates....fucking lame. Yeah, he's a big MMA fan. Taker likes to switch things up...I just don't think laying on his back with some dude's head in his lap is a great way to end a match.
And for some heat I'll go with Rey's 619. To much set up, time, and cooperation from the opponent. Just never bought it.

Well I will stick with this era since most finishers from the past, mostly from the Hogan era are taken as weak but at the time they were pretty impresive.

Like most I most said The Play Maker looks weaker than most, There is a reason why Randy dropped that Finisher so many years ago.

The Attitude Adjustment, Is not a DVD and Cena protects his victim too much, I mean he almost birng a cushion so his victim can fall with no harm, not even the one over the top turnbuckle seems that hard.

The Styles Clash: AJ is great and all but that one seems weak, really weak, is like half a Dominator and AJ is not a big guy so it seems rather weak, I don't even buy it When Michelle McCool applies it to another Diva, She was better of with th Angel Wings, then again that one was too much for the Divas.

Now defending some moves.

Talking of the 619, it is actually a set up move (I know, sucha long set up for a nother set up is crazy) for a slpash or something else.

The Hell's Gate move, first is a submission move that can choke out any one, Really difficult to pull out on MMA but if someone locks it up, the victim passes out in a matter of seconds.

The KillSwitch: I mean is obvious it can be countered very easily but even if the set up is difficult, The move is not weak at all, on the contrary, there is no way it does not Knock you out since is supposed to prevent any protection to the head, and Christian makes it look good most of the time.

The RKO: someone said that Randy only uses one set up for it, that is not true, the guy can practically pull it out from a lot of positions, He chas countered tons of moves and hit it out of nowhere, he countered a choke slam, a top rope tackle, a Crossface to win his first World Championship and the Pedigree with it.

Edge's Spear: Yeah sometimes it seems like a hard move but not one that will put a Big man down for the count, specially since Edge does it from his left side and not like someone like Goldberg who used a tackle right at the center of the opponent but truth be told Edge can set it up from a lot of positions, as a counter from a top rope move, as a top rope move, counter of another spear like he did with Batista, etc.

As many have said The 619 is possibly the weakest looking move. The set up to the thing is just ridiculous it portrays wrestlers as being dumb and that they cant think for themselves because he;ll try to set it up a couple of times a match it just becomes predictable after a while.

Honestly itmite b easier to list finishers that dont look weak but Il go with the 1s that are not only weak looking but just plain stupid. Il start with the worst all around finisher in the wwe mvp's playmaker. Its slow takes forever to set up and looks incredibly easy to reverse and then when he hits it your left baffled as to what exactly its supposed to do to his opponent. I wanna quickly defend the paydirt/zig zag by saying that it actually looks like thers alot of power behind the move so altho its not flashy it at least passes in my book. Back to the bad finishers I hate edges spear hes not that big or strong so how could that spear take out a guy like the big show? Speaking of the big show the knockout punchhas to make the list. I dont have a problem with it knocking a guy out becasue a haymaker from a guy that big could certainly b devastating but its a punch which begs the question why doesnt he just hit it right away instead of waiting the entire match?! Another finisher I hate is the 619 altho honestly I hate pretty much everything rey does because I cant by him beating most of the guys on the roster because of his size. And finally a finisher that mite be the worst because it belongs to the biggest name in the company today is the FU/attitude adjustment Im confused as to how its supposed to put a guy out? All he does is toss them on their back thats it! Seriously cenas big enough why doesnt he just take the f5? hes big strong and intense plus lesnars never comin back so its not like hes gonna give a crap if someone else uses it

Ok so first up im going to have to go with MVP's playmaker. God that is one awful finisher. There is no impact on the head, it looks dumb, and it takes so long to set up, it is highly unbelievable. Remember back when he was a heel and he did the drive by kick. That was a good believable finisher, then when he went face they had to go back to the shitty playmaker.

Secondly, still picking on MVP, the 'ballin elbow drop'. Are you kidding me? The thing that makes me hate it so much is the gay little step thing then arm thing he does, its just so shit, nobody pops for it. When the rock went for his peoples elbow, and even Cena with the 5 knuckle shuffle, people pop for them moves, not MVP's one, that move is just shit. Ive never seen him pin anyone with it and i'd die happy if i never saw him pin someone with it.

Another would have to be the 'Attitude Adjustment (FU)' by John Cena. Such a weak finisher. Started off as a rip of kind of parody of Brock Lesnars F-5 when they had their feud, now its the finisher that has won him countless matches and titles, and it is one of the most un-convincing finishers in the WWE now. He is the face of the company, he could at least have a decent finisher.

Honorable mentions:
Khali's chop: Seriously, chopping someone in the head isn't that devastating.
Hogans leg drop: Its just a leg drop, need i say anymore?
Matt Hardy's twist of fate: When Jeff needs it and a Swanton to win, its hard to believe Matt could get the pin with just the twist of fate.
HHH's pedigree that he uses now: People may not agree, but it just looks weak now. He lets go of their arms, and their face hardly ever comes in contact with the floor and he has just tried to compensate by jumping higher. He needs to hold the arms like he did when he pedigreed Mick Foley onto thumbtacks. When he does that its a brutal finisher.

To defend Kozlov a bit on this one, when he first started doing it on Smackdown I actually thought it was pretty damn cool as a finisher. The fact that it was done on smaller wrestler and usually sent them flying just added to the factor for me..granted, it's become a bit more watered down and not as cool..so I get what you're saying there

I'm not sure how anyone could put down the 619? Sure, it's unrealistic and all but still, It's such a different move and it puts the crowd on their feet. Anyways... Here's my thoughts:

Playmaker: It's ok but I think MVP takes a little to long to actually use it. And, I doubt that one of his opponents would stay in that position while he puts his leg on their neck.

Undertaker's Rope Walk: I absolutely hate this move. The one where Undertaker grabs someone's arm and walks on the rope then punches him in the face. How is someone really supposed to just stand there as he's walking on the rope??

John Cena's Top Rope Leg Drop: Another one that makes no sense. When Cena uses this move, His opponent is bent over just waiting for this to happen. It looks so akward and unrealistic.

Skull Crushing Finale: It doesn't really get me pumped up when The Miz uses this move. It's a really slow move to get off and it just slows everything down because I think The Miz is a pretty good in ring wrestler other than his finisher. Personally, I liked his Reality Check way better than this new one.

Pedigree: I think that Triple H is really bad at pulling this one off. If you just watch the guy's face when he pulls off this move, He doesn't even hit the mat. This move is always really sloppy.

Triple H's Facebuster: Another one by Triple H that doesn't look like it hurts at all. Especially on a big opponent like The Big Show when they were defending their unified Tag Titles. This move just looks like HHH is pushing the guys head down while he is on one knee.

I agree with Mikey...that Darren's finishing move...it looks like he's messing up PaulBurchill's old C4 type move. :banghead: The first time I saw it when he did it to Otunga, I thought he botched it. Then the 2nd time he did it, and saw it was the same thing...:wtf: how can that be considered 'a decent' finishing move?

I think Maryse's French Kiss DDT looks a little off-putting. Its basically a type of implant DDT of sorts, and then the way she lays herself over the opponent, a little too provocatively, like she's posing for a Cinemax movie. I don't know. At least when Lita did her DDT, she just hit it and covered, no posey posey stuff.

I know hes not in the WWE anymore. But I always thought Kennedy's Mic Check was weak. It's pretty much a front face russian leg sweep.

I guess I'm in the minority here because I haven't seen it mentioned, but I'd have to say jericho's code breaker. It's like one of those moves that looks and seems ok against an opponent who is just standing still. but anytime jericho uses it against someone moving (or especially jumping at him) in any way, it looks it doesn't quite hit his opponent correctly.

It's not through any fault of jericho, I just think it's a difficult move to pull off, with the end result of it looking pretty weak.

Good thread.

I don't see why the WWE doesn't just borrow some moves from the indy circuit or various Japanese Pureso companies. It's plain stupid watching main event players or any one really get pinned by the fucking "Attitude Adjustment".

John Cena is the top guy in the WWE. I don't like it, but I have to admit it. Cena really needs a better finisher. Possibly a Somoan Driver. It still demonstrates power as it picks you up in the Firemans carry position. But it spins you around and plants you on your head. Chris Sabin uses it, infact its his finisher, the feared Cradle Shock.

I also have problems with many others such as MVP's. It looks stupid. So he flips you over. Big deal... I suggest he uses a move like the black crush. Or something else that looks bloody effective.

what many of you fail to realize and the mistake most wrestling fans make is the lack of ability to differentiate reality from the fantasy world of kayfabe. In the kayfabe world, it is believed that a move like Big Show's KO punch or Hogan's leg drop is devastating enough to "finish" their opponent in a way only they can execute (immense power, etc)...in reality it may seem like just a typical leg drop or punch (which it is when anyone else does it)...but in fantasy kayfabe Big Show and Hogan have the "power" to make the move so devastating that it finishes the opponent off.

In other words, STOP bringing reality into a fake kayfabe environment. The two seldom go hand in hand.

In my opinion, Kofi's Boom Drop.
It's just a leg drop, with a silly mexican jumping bean-ish taunt at the beginning.
Also.. The Playmaker/Overdrive looks weak,too.

THE MASTER LOCK!!!!!! hands down the oldest and most idotic mover ever!! My 12 year old nephew can get out of this move. Sure im not 6'4 and 300lbs but a full nelson really?! REALLY?! Even big fat Bubba Ray added something to this move dropping a guy on there tail-bone. No wonder Masters has been let go 1000 times by the "E" he's using a FULL NELSON might as well use a bear hug! Can't believe no one thought of this yet.......

Evrey finishing move that you need to set up looks weak. The ones that can come out of nowhere and hit quickly are the only ones that look impactful. The pedigree is by far the worst looking finisher I have ever seen. The wrestler's face never hits the mat and it takes forever to set up, it looks the worst when Trips tries to suprise his opponent with it.

I saw alot of people saying the K.O. punch but that is almost the only real finisher ever! I also saw some of you saying why doesn't he just use it at the beginning of the match. Well I guess you are the people that have never been in a fist fight before. Anyone that has would know that at the beginning of a fight you can take more punches without feeling them too much, but near the end of the fight or if you get sucker punched, like Big Show usually does to his opponents, it hurts a hell of alot more and has a better chance of knocking you out. Big Show usually catches his opponents with the K.O. punch when they aren't looking i.e. a sucker punch i.e. a K.O. punch.
