Video Games Tourney hype thread

I had a feeling gold/silver/crystal would be the one elected. My choice would be platinum but hey, we'll see which one flies. One will.

Ah I misread it to say you had a solid green cart, not GBC.

For single player Gold and Silver were the superior titles.

In terms of game mechanics Roby and Sapphire perfected things.

For competitive multiplayer it's hard to get much better than Platinum. Generation five simply introduced too much and the metagame cannot stabilize as a result.

Phatso said something about playing Zelda LA (DX) on his Green GBC, and someone misinterpreted that as saying the Zelda Links Awakening cartridge was green.

EDIT: Lee beat me to it.

And I would give you my list, but I doubt it would be anything more then 30.

I still haven't played black or white, I'm not really sure if I want to. I liked Ruby and Sapphire, Sapphire moreso for some reason. But I liked them because of the diffrent things you could do. Fuck I had a base out in the middle of the ocean. They were great games, but I'd still pick silver over either of them to put into the tournie.

And yes, the cart is grey with a goldish front sticker.

I don't want to limit the amount of games a franchise can have in.

Better hope you can achieve a strong consensus on the best Pokemon, FIFA, Madden, GTA, Football Manager, SvR and suchlike then.

There's no problem for something like Final Fantasy, where the games are essentially stand alone titles with a franchised name, but in many cases it's simply the same game being released over again with a few tweaks, which I can't think is going to inspire that much debate.

I'm not a huge video game buff Lee, I just play what I think is fun to me. So don't laugh at my list.

I will be putting Legend of dragoon on the top of my list just because it's the game I enjoyed the most.

I'm a video game buff but fun is the best thing about gaming.

Yeah Gelgarin for those sorts if it comes to it I may think about limiting those to one though I don't think it will.

he said GBC, so he was referring to the DX version (the original Link's Awakening was regular game boy, not color)

the GBC version was the solid black that predated the see-through greenchip

Yes but he may of had the original and played it on his GBC.

My reason for loving platinum was..... in a large part due to the pokegear. But I felt it was still difficult enough to occupy a large amount of your time and give to the satisfaction when you got through the main story (not saying the current gen didn't) and included old features like the safari/swamp zone thing and enhanced them sufficiently. Also the added storyline aspect of going to the dream world and the rest, that was pretty vast compared to the previous all-encompassing versions like yellow. I also thought the post elite 4 game had more to do that was worth doing.

But just ideas that I thought were great and they took away like the underground or honey slathered trees for example. It's the same reason I'm so bitter-sweet about GTA4, too many good ideas cast away.

1. Legend of dragoon (ps1)
2. Red dead redemption (360)
3. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360)
4. Legend of zelda: Ocarnia of time (64)

6. Super Mario 64 (64)
7. Dead Rising (360)
8. DOOM (pc)
9. Fallout 3 (360)
10. Final Fantasy VII (ps1)

That's what I have for my top ten, sorry about some nooby choices. I've just went with what made me have the most fun

Random interjection but where I live they are doing free local travel tommorrow for people that are named Will or Kate. Also for people who's names sort of resemble those names like Katie, Catherine or William. Random.

The best FIFA game was Pro Evo 6 (Winning Eleven 10)

I don't come around here often anymore, but the Video Game tourny sounds like it can't be missed. HUGE video game buff here, and althought I can't guarentee what game I'll be backing right now, it'll likely be one for the N64. Simply the best gaming system of its time.

Knights of the Old Republic was nowhere near the best game of all time. Not even top 30. It was by far the best Star Wars game, but that isn't saying much as every Star Wars game outside of KOTOR and Lego is terrible.
