Who other lead team USA than the Real American, "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan. The guy is the most well renowned wrestler ever. Hogan made wrestling cool and had a huge following of Hulkamaniacs. It is insane how popular Hulk Hogan was.

Another name I'll throw out there is Sting. The guy was IMO the face of WCW and easily the best wrestler to never wrestle for Vinnie Mac. Sting and Hogan go back to there days of WCW and can work together. They would be a nice one two punch for the good ole USA.

I think, without a doubt, Hulk Hogan should be Captain of team USA. He almost single handedly launched wrestling into mainstream. Who knows if wrestling would even be relevant if the Hulkster wasnt around. When people talk about who is the greatest wrestler of all time, Hulk Hogan is definitely a contender.

I think a great representative of Team USA is the Real American Hero Kurt Angle. Talk about representing your country, he won an Olympic gold medal in wrestling with a broken frickin neck. Who would do that for their country? Kurt Angle would. His in ring agilities is matched by very few, and his intensity, intelligence, and integrity is matched by no one. It could be argued that Kurt Angle is the best athlete that the United States has to offer. Kurt Angle should be a shoe-in for a position on Team USA. Oh its real. Its DAMN real.

I will really, really, REALLY be pushing Hacksaw Jim Duggan to make this team.

Now, a lot of people like to look at him as a joke, but those are just mostly ignorant youngsters.

There are very few who could get the crowd fired up better than Jim Duggan in the history of this business. Very few. And when you look at it... it was all because of his patriotism and love for his country. Sure, he was a great worker back in the day (if you haven't seen his work from Mid-South, than do so immediately and educate yourself), and he was just a goofy, lovable Teddy bear, but no one, and I mean NO ONE, ever got the crowd to chant the three letters "U-S-A" as frequently and as loud as the Hacksaw did and even still does to this day. He definitely deserves to be on this team.

I also agree with the picks of Sting, Hogan, and Kurt Angle.

Steve Austin, John Cena, and Shawn Michaels are 3 other names I would like to throw out there as well.

Here are my 5 names
1. Hulk Hogan - He is the true resemblance of the U.S.A. Wrestler. He represents his country well and is probably the most famous name in wrestling.

2. Kurt Angle - Already a former Olympic gold medalist deserves to be in the wrestlezolympics. He is one of the best technical wrestlers of all time.

3. Stone Cold Steve Austin - he is a great american wrestler and as well as being one of the famous members in U.S.A Wrestling and deserves a spot

4. Brock Lesnar - Yes I know it sounds a little crazy but when he was a wrestler everybody thought he was the next big thing and he was. He was unbelievable in the ring

5. John Cena - No team USA can not have John Cena on it. The Marine. He is the wrestler of the PG Era of the WWE, and is the #1 face in the biggest company in the World

jmt, as we all know, I'm far from being an ignorant youngster. But besides the fact that Duggan is extremely patriotic, what benefit will he be for a team in these olympics?!? He's a pathetic joke to the wrestling world. His popularity and patriotism isn't going to carry him through a ladder match, a falls count anywhere match, a submission match, or any other kind of format. There are FAR too many other deserving choices for spots on the USA Team, and being a member of this country, I'd be embarrassed to have Duggan take one of the FIVE spots that are offered here.

Now, as for team captain, if Hulk Hogan doesn't take the position then I'm going to cry bloody murder. He is the epitome of everything that explains representing your country as a professional wrestling powerhouse. As a matter of fact, I'm not even going to wait for IC to announce the team captains... I'm going to proclaim that Hogan is the leader of team USA and I doubt anyone would disagree.

As for the rest of the team, the talent pool is endless. Undertaker, Sting, AJ Styles, HBK, John Cena, Triple H... this will be the hardest team to choose from. But, they're definitely going to be the team that is most expected to win this thing.

I'm eager to see USA take on Canada... this is gonna be a SLOBBERKNOCKER.

I know you're not an ignorant youngster when it comes to professional wrestling, but obviously you haven't watched too much Mid-South wrestling, have you? Because if you had, I don't think you would have this opinion.

The fact is, Duggan was anything but a joke in his prime. He was a man loved by the fans more so than anyone in his respective company (which was one of the largest territories in the US at the time and the only person who matched Duggan's in popularity there was JYD), and he kicked ass every single week against some of the biggest names this business has had ever to offer, such as Ted DiBiase, Junkyard Dog, One Man Gang, Magnum T.A., Terry Gordy, Buzz Sawyer, and plenty of others. Not to mention the fact that he won the very first Royal Rumble in history, and has plenty of other huge wins under his belt in both WWE and WCW.

To me, Duggan just screams "USA" more so than any other professional wrestler in the history of this country. To judge Jim Duggan just as the goofy guy in WWE or the man who taped his fist in WCW would be equivalent to judging Jerry Lawler just based off his WWE career as a commentator.

But I do understand if people don't want him to be a starter, but an alternate? He most definitely should get thaat. I mean, seriously, just look at it this way.... could you think of a better mascot than Jim Duggan, anyway?

I'm with everyone else that thinks Hogan should be the team's "captain". Angle also is practically a shoe-in, as he is an American gold medalist. Sting would be a good choice, as would guys like Macho Man, Jack Swagger, Terry Funk, and RVD.

RVD and Macho Man are both phenomenal athletes, and would do great in an Olympic type atmosphere. Terry Funk would be my choice for the Wrestling events. He's just a legend. There's really no arguing it.

Why Jack Swagger, you ask? He's the All-American American. He's a natural athlete, and it would be interesting to see some of the debate involving him in a wide array of events...

Hmm, just another team for Canada to have to beat I guess. Think Canada already proved its worth as we took on the Americans in the final eight spots of the WrestleZone Tournament, but I guess you want a rematch, this time for Gold medals. Hogan and Austine are great I guess, But neither hold a winning record against Team Canada's potential captain. If you wanted a fair shot, I think you would have to put Michales at the top.

My choice for team captain would no doubt be the man that imortalized wrestling, I'm not talking about the merchandise man, I'm talking about Rick Flair. He won 16 world heavyweight championships. He put on some of the best matches ever in the history of the buisness. He won a royal rumble, hes a triple crown winner, he's in every single hall of fame there is, he won so many wrestling observer newsleter awards and pwi awards back when the magizine meant something, he was the founder of the horsemen, he was the head of evolution, and his theme song and the woooooo can still be felt by all true wrestling fans oh and his strut too. Flair is without a doubt the best american wrestler.

Others on this team has to be tripple h, stone cold steve austin, sting, hulk hogan, the rock, undertaker, HBK, and hacksaw jim duggan do to their resume and popularity and well hacksaw has awalys been the symbol of america in my mid when it comes to wrestling.

With only five spots, this is incredibly tough...

I have no problem with Hulk as team captain. He's a guy who can whip up, and would be a power in the Royal Rumble event.

I'm surprised not many people have Shawn Michaels on their lists. For the Iron-Man events alone I think HBK needs to be on Team USA.

Here's another one...CM Punk. With a submissions event AND a MITB event, I think we'd be incredibly foolish not to include Punk. He could serve extremely well in both settings, as a Two-Time MITB winner and a Muay Thai master...

I think Ric Flair in his prime is a guy you want on your side. 16 World Titles. That's one hell of a resume. He could be another guy to look at for the Submissions event, given that he is the acknowledged master of the Figure Four Leglock.

And, last but not least...Mick Foley. There's a Falls Count Anywhere, Anything Goes event. Foley in his prime? He would dominate this type of a setting. He could be a surprising strong performer in other settings, as well, as his match with HBK from '96 attests.

I wanted to bring some new names into the mix, and take a look at fitting guys into some of the various events which have been posted, so...here ya go!

My Five Nominees

1. Hulk Hogan. Seems to be a great choice for captain, no? He led more American teams than any other man, EVER.

2. Kurt Angle. An olympic gold medalist, and one of the few Americans who can truly match up with the submission specialists of Team Canada.

3. Sting. Easilly the greatest modern wrestler never to work for the McMahons, he has enough versatility - agility, speed, power, etc. to excel in almost any event.

4. Lex Luger. He carried the "All-American" character after Hogan left in 1993, and his power and experience make him quite formidable.

5. Steve Austin. Few things more American than a Budweiser drinking Texas Redneck. Austin represented everything to working class America for almost a decade.

Honorable mentions: Shawn Michaels (may be a better choice than some of the ones I put in my top 5), Scott Steiner (early 90's Scott, not Big Poppa Pump), Dusty Rhodes (son of a plummah!), Randy Savage.

Why Jack Swagger, you ask? He's the All-American American. He's a natural athlete, and it would be interesting to see some of the debate involving him in a wide array of events...

I'm a big fan of Swagger and would be in support of putting him on the team, but with everyone there is to choose from, I don't think he makes the cut.

I have to agree with Hogan as the team captain. He was the greatest pro wrestler ever and completely embodied the American spirit, he's a no brainer.

I also am going to agree with the popular choices of Angle and Sting. Angle was a true "wrestler" and also is filled with a lot of American pride and Sting was one of the few to become huge without the WWE.

As for the last two, I'm going with Mick Foley and Ric Flair. Flair is known as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and certainly was the most successful kayfabe wise. He'll be a great asset to this team, especially in any submission based matches. As for Foley, he may not be the greatest wrestler of all time, but when it came to hardcore matches and pure entertainment, Foley is second to none.

Obviously, there are a lot of others that deserve a spot here, but I went for diversity. Austin, Cena, Undertaker, HBK, and Rock all should be under consideration as well.

Edit: Looking at the team I propsed, there isn't a lot of speed or agility there and certainly no one I think would fare very well in the Ladder Match, so I'm going to replace Sting with HBK

no doubt hogan would be captain, as well as angle being on team usa, but i would definitely choose the nature boy. i would also choose from either sting, luger, sgt. slaughter, mr. perfect, the steiners, hbk, hhh, the hardys, cm punk, steve austin, not to mention tommy dreamer, taz, mick foley, rvd, terry funk, and raven would take it to the extreme.

unfortunately i can only choose five so here's my choices:

1. hulk hogan
2. ric flair
3. kurt angle
4. sting
5. shawn michaels

Oi...IC, did you really have to name Luger? Sure, he had the gimmick for a bit, but it's a rather small chunk of his overly long, extremely boring career.

As a TNA mark, I'm going to throw the name AJ Styles out there. He's got the down-home southern accent, and is one of the most, if not the most, impressive guy in the ring RIGHT NOW. He can wrestle any style they throw at him, and will fit in well with any gimmick you can think of...

Five spots? Fuggin' wow. Well, Hulk Hogan's definitely in it. Same can be said for Stone Cold Steve Austin. Kurt Angle's another one. As far as the last two, you could use someone who was really solid at certain things and could bring a different flavor to the team. And I'm going to possibly get shit for this, but I would go with Stan Hansen. Why?

Well, all the man did was beat up on Japanese wrestlers for 20 years. That says a lot. Japan is the toughest out in the tournament with their mix of speed and power. Stan Hansen combatted their biggest wrestler in Giant Baba and also beat Antonio Inoki. None of those things are small feats to say the least. And Hansen would be a damn fine patriot too. He's from Texas for fuck's sake. All they know is patriotism.

And then I'd go with Ric Flair.

You guys are not looking to the format of the tournament. We have to look at the events.

1. Team Captain: Hulk Hogan. The embodiment of the American hero, there can be no other choice. He'll be a powerhouse in the team events like the Battle Royale and the Survivor Series, where he's likely to anchor gold medals in both. Really, he'll be good in almost any match other then the submission match and the Iron Man match.

2. Kurt Angle: This is our representative for the Iron Man match or the Ladder Match. Great all-around and in every aspect, and he's already represented the US successfully in the Olympics! For that reason, I say we put him in the ladder match. He's opportunistic and looking to win, not necessarily to put on a show. He won't pass up a shot at the gold just to hit an awesome move.

3. Lou Thesz: I didn't see any age requirements or time period requirements, so I assume we're using him at his prime, and it seems you young'uns seem to have forgotten one of the greats. Lou Thesz is one of the greatest wrestlers, and most importantly, CATCH wrestlers ever. The innovator of the STF, this man would win the submission match for us.

4. Mick Foley: Anything goes free for all. King of Hardcore. That is all.

5. Shawn Michaels: Whichever match Angle wrestles, Shawn can do the other. In my scenario, that would put Shawn in the Iron Man match (which he made famous in victory over Bret Hart).

I think that's a pretty unbeatable team. If Thesz is too old for you guys, we could add Ric Flair (Figure four baby!) or John Cena (STFU). That is the list. You have to tailor the team to the events, not necessarily the best wrestlers ever from a country.

WOW. tough tough choice here and any team that is chosen will do very well and almost certainly win.

1st - Hogan as captain, why? He's a real american and arguably the best pro wrestler ever, not to mention very strong and still very popular and regularly bummed on this forum, so yeah easy choice.

2nd - Flair, my favourite wrestler of all time, dirtiest player in the game, very popular and offers a different dynamic to the team, good in submission/ falls count anywhere/ battle royals. So yep, another easy choice for me.

3rd - Sting, not one of my favourites, but obviously a good wrestler and people love him, also at one point was very patriotic and would be highly backed

4th - Shawn Michaels, maybe a bit of an odd choice, but we need some speed, we need some high flyers. Michaels can perform in any type of match, he is/was very quick and agile and offers something different to everyone else in my picks.

5th - Stone Cold Steve Austin, arguably the most popular wrestler ever, not great technically but would have a huge backing and is a great brawler.

My final picks;

Hogan (Captain)
Flair
Sting
Michaels
Austin

Team U.S.A
Team Captain
Ric Flair. While he may not be as famous as Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold, or even Cena, he's a 16 time world champ, he wrestled for an extremely long time, the greatest ever, and he's from North Carolina (U.S.A).
Other Members:
Stone Cold-You can't have a Team U.S.A without him. He's one of the most popular ever, and he also is a multiple time world champ.
Hulk Hogan-I don't even have to say anything that hasn't been said.
The Undertaker-Undefeated at Wrestlemania, one of the best ever.
The Rock-Although he's technically Samoan and Canadian, this is kayfabe, and it's The Rock.
Honorable mentions: Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Jericho(He's american.), Dusty, Sting, multiple others.

I'm going by the events listed by IC in that one thread that is there in that one forum in that one area. Something about "These are the events your wrestlers will be competing in."

Iron Man Match: While I hate to admit it, Shawn Michaels should probably be in this one. I don't like Shawn Michaels at all, seeing as though he's been skating by on his achievements as of late. Becca will hate me for saying so, but Sly would probably agree. That Jericho/HBK feud could have been so much better than it was...as with that JBL/HBK feud. But no.

At any rate, it doesn't change the fact that Michaels wrestled Bret Hart in an Iron Man match that went into sudden death overtime and won. We know that Bret Hart will most likely be being sent into the Iron Man or Submission Matches. Better cover our bases now.

Submission Match: I'm going to get the debate going by saying John Cena. He won't give up, and we know that. Bret Hart isn't going to catch Cena with a Sharpshooter and see Cena give up. We'll have another Stone Cold situation on our hands before Cena gives up. And Cena's STFU has seen giants submit. You simply can not go wrong with Cena in any of these events, and I think he finds his place in the Submission Match.

Falls Count Anywhere Free for All: Mick Foley is said by some to be the innovator of the Hardcore Match, and I tend to agree. However, Mick Foley was also the jobber to the Stars that also was actually good enough to hold the title every now and again. Foley lost how many hardcore matches? Hell, he lost to Edge. Edge. The resident pussy heel of the WWE, and Foley lost to him. Come on.

I would argue that Hulk Hogan should go here. Sure, Hogan never really used weapons in his matches. However, Hogan didn't have to. Not only that, but I doubt picking up a chair and swinging is really hard to learn. Hogan is the Immortal, and he's not going to be put down without some really crazy shit going down. Thankfully, I fully believe that no one any of the other countries put forward will even start to approach the ability necessary to put down Hogan.

Ladder Match/Money in the Bank: Jeff Hardy, anyone? Hardy is the man who made his career with ladders. No one would doubt that Hardy could win Money in the Bank with his eyes closed. And depending on the opponent, Hardy is either the clear favorite or slight favorite over most in the Ladder Match.

You might argue him a spot monkey who cokes up on his weekends off, I argue him an incredibly solid wrestler who did his job and could more than handle a ladder match with anyone the other countries choose.

How They Would Work as a Team

Survivor Series: Come on. Hardy takes a beating, and might be able to take out one of the opposing team with a surprise Twist of Fate before he gets a tag out or gets eliminated. That puts us at 4/4. HBK goes in, eliminates at least one before he gets eliminated. That leaves us Cena and Hulk Hogan. Come on guys. The respective Immortals of their eras, going to lose to any team? Please. Cena/Hogan would take it home.

Battle Royale-- You can't really plan for this. You can't really plan for any of these team competitions because they're simply "Who do you wanna vote for," but this is the hardest. You can't even argue in this type of match up, because everyone is for themselves.

Final Wrestlers:
  1. Jeff Hardy
  2. Hulk Hogan
  3. John Cena
  4. Shawn Michaels

That is, of course, only a tentative list until we get more events from IC.

This is definitely the hardest team to come up with because most of the talents that are being picked from are from WWE.

I stated in another post that there should be a tournament to pick who should be on the US Team considering there is so much talent to pick from. First you start at the little promotions and indy stars then to cult followings next onto looking at ROH/TNA stars, and finally talents of WWE.

With that in my mind we should get a team from WWE, WCW, ECW, TNA, ROH, and Indies. There could be a few more teams and then each promotion brings or only picks ten talents. All face each other until there are only five real talents that are representing the USA.

I have no problem with names like Jim Duggan or Hulk Hogan. When I look at what matches taking place I think of some what younger talents. Hulk best match to be in would be the 5 vs 5 unless we are going with people in there prime or what. To me popularity isn’t everything. I am hesitating to list a bunch of names but in a way I will maybe. There are soo many though!

If the USA team is picking right then Canada will have the best chance of winning with Japan and Mexico close on our tail. Then we will have the UK to go against.

Here are my suggestions and I’m going by which promotion they were with the longest.

Team WWE

Bobby Lashley, Brock Lesnar, Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, Kurt Angle, Ken Shamrock, Steve Blackmon, D’Lo Brown
Billy Gunn, Road Dog, Jeff Hardy, John Cena, Matt Hardy, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, X-Pac, Kane, Undertaker

The list can keep going but I figure I should stop here!

Team WCW

Arn Anderson, Billy Kidman, Booker T, Dean Malenko, Evan Karagias, Jamie Knoble, Road Warriors, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Ric Flair, Shane Helms, Shannon Moore, Stevie Ray, and Sting

Missed a few names for this side!

Team ECW

Bubba Ray Dudley, D’Von Dudley, Jerry Lynn, Justin Credible, Kid Kash, Perry Saturn, Raven, Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Sandman, Scorpio, Shane Douglas, Simon Diamond, and Tommy Dreamer, Pitbulls, Mike Awesome

Team USA was all ECW members we can say that the other opponents will be seriously trouble considering all of these are all hardcore.

Team TNA

AJ Styles, Andy Douglas, Chase Stevens, Chris Harris, Christopher Daniels, David Young, Elix Skipper, James Storm, Jeff Jarrett, Kaz, Low Ki, Matt Bently, Samoa Joe*, Slash, Sonjay Dutt*, Malice, Abyss

Team ROH

Alex Shelley, Austin Aries, Brian Kendrick, Bryan Danielson, C.M. Punk, Chris Sabin,
Donuvan Morgan, Jay Lethal, Johnny Kashmere, Paul London, Roderick Strong, Trent Acid

Team Indy or whatever

Amazing Red, Brian XL, Christian York, Deranged, Dixie, Izzy, Jack Evans, Jason Cross, Joel Maximo, Joey Matthews, Jose Maximo, Julio Dinero

These lists of wrestlers can easily go on and on my friends so how can you really just pick five US wrestlers?

Those are some sample names but hey the USA team is pretty much a lock to win but it really depends on who the members are going to be.

You go easily go with veterans and experience or you can have full of youth teams. You can even have the best teams or fractions or all single wrestlers with egos.

Who knows?!!!

Ok. Everybody here has pick the Hulkster as team Capt an i choose him 2
Capt:Hulk Hogan
1.Sgt. Slaughter
2.Ric Flair
3.Stone Cold
4.The Ultimate Warrior
5.Sting
All of these people have changed the industry forever. Hulk Hogan did everthing. Not just the titles, he got the audience over, like no one has done before. Sgt Slaughter is just one of the most patriotic people i have heard of. Face or heel. Just great in ring performer, one of the best to represent the US. Ric Flair, OH where to SRART. Once again, face or heel, one of the best performers. Figure 4 gets the crowd up in their seats. Stone Cold, Arrive, Raise Hell, Leave. He does exactly that. He comes, makes hell for his opponent, leaves. The Warrior, i think he is the strongest person to set foot in WWF. Even thought he wasnt supposed to, he scoop slammed Andre the Giant WITHOUT Andre's assistence. Personally my favorate legend of all time, and future HOF. Sting. Oh wow. The Scorpion. When Sting was in WCW with his surfer gimmick. He got me hooked on him. Great entertainer, one of the best to represent.

Close votes: Hbk Lou thez Kurt Angle

Captains Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair
Then Kurt Angle, The Rock and Stone Cold

These guys I would say are the five best American wrestlers so far. I think they would represent America well. I think they would be able to go up against any other wrestlers in almost any categories. Each one of them are multiple world title holders, they've mainevented wrestlemania. The only one I would consider replacing would be The Rock. The Rock's first replacement, if I was in charge would be The Undertaker. After that other guys would be considered like John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Triple H.

When it comes to ladder matches, look no further than Rob Van Dam. The man has two ladder match wins over Jeff Hardy, a ladder match win over Eddie Guerrero, a ladder match win over Christian, a MITB win, and a ladder match win over Big Show. Jeff Hardy or Shawn Michaels may be associated with the ladder match more often, but they don't have the track record that Rob Van Dam does (with only ONE ladder match loss in his career to the best of my recollection, a loss that came as a result of a run-in by Big Show).

The choice should be obvious to any person with an IQ over 50. Rob Van Dam w/Educated Feet for Team USA!

...Yeah. I suppose so. I can't argue that his ring psychology pisses me off more than any other wrestlers, even Angle's, seeing as though the Wrestlezolympics don't take that into account. Consider my post edited, replacing Jeff Hardy with Mr. RVD. Only don't look back to earlier post, because I'm not really going to edit it.

As far as the latest posts...I would quote and argue them, but it's easier to go with this. Are you guys not looking at the match ups? We shouldn't be going for purely old veterans, because they aren't best for some of the tougher match-ups. For most every veteran you could find a better wrestler from this decade to take the gimmick match.

Sgt. Slaughter for Submission Match? Psh. John Cena will NEVER quit. He's the new Immortal, after all. And his STF has seen giants submit, as I've said before.

The Rock for what? I'm serious. I don't see one match on the list of events that he would seriously fit into.

Steve Austin? Most likely for Iron Man, huh? Shawn Michaels beat fucking Bret Hart, the king of Canada, in an Iron Man match that went into Sudden Death overtime. Steve Austin passed out because Bret Hart had him in a submission.

The only real veteran I could see for any of the matches is Hulk Hogan, and that would be for the Falls Count Anywhere Anything Goes match. Simply because Hulk Hogan doesn't die.
