Money In the Bank: 2009

Mark Henry - I like Henry, but he's really out of place in this match. I dont think he has a chance of winning, but I honestly wouldnt mind seeing him win it. Henry has been pretty damn good lately. I know that he doesnt put on great matches, but he's a very believable heel with his current gimmick. I think he could do pretty good as a world champion, but I just dont see him winning the ladder match.

Henry would be a dreadful champ, let's be honest.

Would love one of me all-time faves in Kane to win it, but the two favourites for me are MVP and Christian, and I think MVP will win it despite his US title win recently.

It's got to be MVP, hasn't it? The only other guy with a chance is Christian, and apparently Vince doesn't see him as a main eventer.. So I'm going with MVP. I expect him to be drafted to Raw this year, and probably cash in sometime during the summer.

I'd be happy with either Christian or Shelton winning, but how cool would it be to have Kane win it and find his mask inside the case?

That would be rediculously dumb and pointless. 'Nuff said.

It'll come down to Shelton and MVP I think. I really thought it was going to be MVP's time until Shelton dropped the title to him. Or maybe MVP is going to hold the briefcase and the title. Who knows. We shall find out next Sunday.

MVP-had a face change, a title win, what a year would it be to have him win the MITB Briefcase, i have liked MVP since they called em a powerranger, i think he has a pretty good chance at winning

Christian-he debuted when nobody expected(via Mr. Mcmahon got us), had a shot at the ECW title, failed at it. If the rumors bout Christian and Vince r true, then he might not win, but it'll be great to see and Edge Vs Christian battle for the gold sometime this year. But the truth is, they really dont need the MITB to push him, all they need to down is push em to be the top at ECW, have him traded, then he's a top face.

Kane-Deserves it the most, had one Championship reign over a decade ago for 24 hours. He needs this not as a push, but more like a tribute. If he became champion, then it would shows that tha WWE values all the work the Glenn Jacobs has put in the buisness.

CM Punk-I really dont know anymore, he was given a huge push that wasnt supposed to be his, but he got it anyways. It didnt work, so if he wins again, then he would be the first 2x MITB Winner.

Mark Henry-If he wins, then it will probably be how they used Kennedy a few years ago, lost it to someone.

Shelton Benjamin-my top pick, he has been overdue a push for the longest. He has been used as a spot monkey in the match, and its his time to shine, besides, a face won it last year, and i wanna see him win it. Plz WWE

Anybody else in the match, i dont see winnning

I'm starting to buy into the theory that someone relatively obscure is going to win the Money in the Bank this year. I'm thinking someone like Shelton Benjamin is going to finally get over the hump this year and win it. The scenario that is out there right now that JBL is going to buy the MITB briefcase, and then cash it in would be awesome, and I hate JBL. It would be a way for him to make history to cash it in that night and ruin someones night.

If that doesn't happen the most over guy going into the match is Christian, and quite frankly the only one that looks to be deserving of a title match within the next year. It's a nice little mid card match, but I'd still love to see this match blown up and give us 4 great one on one matches as opposed to one giant clusterfuck.

I agree. I don't like JBL too much at really but I could see him doing this at Wrestle Mania. I would soo like to see Shelton go over the bump or MVP, but JBL buying the MITB briefcase could def happen.

I want to see Kane win. I know this is an unpopular opinion. I will list my reasons.

1. He has been loyal to the company. Kane has never jumped ship. Kane has jobbed to everyone at some point, and still maintained his monster status. Kane jobbed for a long time, beat Chavo in 8 seconds, and regained the fear he instill in opponents.

2. He has been one of the more compelling characters in the E for a long time. Shitty story after shitty story, and yet me still care what Kane does. Only Kane and Taker have managed to keep their cartoon style gimmicks through the years. Goldust is a joke to the WWE, Boogeyman is gone, yet Kane and Taker are in two of the top four matches at WM, yet again.

3. He has only been champion for one day in his run with WWE. The last two points have built up to this. Kane is an able performer who evolves in the ring. He moves well and if he is allowed to be maniacal, can be quite a force. He can realistically beat anyone on the roster without hurting their position. He could beat Cena and it would look believable. He could beat Edge, and it wouldn't hurt Edge at all. He and Big Show could feud and Big Show wouldn't have to hold back, and those matches could be good.

I think Kane deserves a real run as champion. Too many times monsters are wasted and I think Kane could strike a blow for all those guys. Kane could kidnap divas, injure superstars, and wreak all kinds of havoc as champion. Vince should give him a chance.

Right I have a few observations. Firstly Benjamin appears to be the favourite, but I absolutely do not see that happening. He got the US title and did pretty much nothing with it apart from a very lacklustre feud with R-Truth. He's given no mic time. Ever. Also he never really has angles, just very simple rivalries.

I predicted that Christian would win MITB before he returned, and I am inclined to beive that now. While I think a heel winner would be best, I think only Christian or newly face MVP are even remotely over enough to pull it off. Punk flopped last year, and I think they'll try and build him up more conventionally instead.

Kofi will do the odd nice spot, but I think he is akin to Punk in 2007, popular, but not ready yet. That leaves the golden oldies. I think Finlay is there to get both him and Hornswoggle on the card. Finlay is also good for a spot to get someone out of the equation with a shilleilagh to the head.

Mark Henry and Kane are there too. At first I completely didn't get it, but I think I might have an idea. Kane has slammed the Big Show, and Henry is legitimately super strong. I think they will do a big spot maybe lifting a ladder with people on it or something.

Outside of that I think Kane is there mostly to intimidate. I can't see Mark Henry climbing the ladder, but you can't say that you wouldn't be impressed if he did a splash off one.

So my prediction for the winner is Christian although I think MVP is a definite second favourite.

Personally, I look for "Captain Charisma" Christian Cage to win this. Lets run down every guy in the match.

CM Punk: Doubt it. He won last year, and his reign was a big flop.

Kane: Another long shot. Simple, he doesn't want the belt, plus a big guy shouldn't win a match like this.

Mark Henry: WTF?!?! There is no way he is winning.

MVP: He could be a possibility, next to Christian, I see him as the second most likely to win it.

Shelton Benjamin: I could see him winning it. He has the material to be a champion. Look out for the Gold Standard in this match.

Kofi Kingston: Long Shot. He is still to young, and new to win it. I could see him as a possible winner at Mania 26 or 27.

Finlay: He isn't going to win it. Plain and simple.

Cage: The favorite in my opinion. Look out for him.

I just realise something, if you look at the winners of all the others MIB you will see a pattern forming. Since this match started, there has been 2 face and heels winners and the funniest thing is that they've actually altenated heel and face winners. The first one was won by Edge who was a heel, the next one was won by RVD who was a face, then Mr. Kennedy won it as a heel and last year's match was won by C.M Punk who was a face.

So what am getting at is that if you follow that logic, this year's MIB winner should be a heel. But you only got three heel in this match this year's. Mark Henry, Kane and Shelton benjamin. Mark Henry is only there because they needed a eight guy and he's still a big player in the company so i don't see him winning. Shelton is there to be the bump guy, he the one that probably will take the bigger bumps during the match so his chance of winning or slim. Then there's Kane, here's a guy that's been a company guy even before getting the kane gimmick, he's never ask for anything he even turn down the opportunity to be the guy to end the undertaker undefeated streak so if they want to continue with this trend and a heel is supposed to win this year's MIB, why not give it to Kane, plus it would shock a lot of people since most people would think that Christian is the odds on favorite to win.

I would be so happy if Kane won it. He's become somewhat of a joke losing to opponets smaller than him. I think he should win, and turn physco again, it was awesome before and it would be awesome with him as WHC or something. I just wanna see Kane get what's due him before he retires

Kane FTW please one time!

Why waste the MITB on Kane? Sure he's a company man, but that's all the more reason for him to not win. Kane winning would do nothing for the company. He's not that great of a worker, he's probably going to be retiring in a few years, and if he became a ME player again, the WWE would be losing their most reliable jobber.

Christian probably isn't going to win it either. Vince hates him. He didn't even want Christian to be in the MITB.

MVP or Shelton will probably win it, as they already have a feud going on which could carry on after Mania, and they are being spotlighted in a singles match on the SD before the big show.

i think that they should just do a match where its mark henry vs evan bourne for the MITB shot. This match needs evan bourne. I just dont understand how they didnt put him in it.Why all the big men. one is good enough. Kane, Finlay and Mark henry is this match. That is going to kill this match.

It's now or never WWE, just push one of your young guns. And push him properly. If Mark Henry, Kane or Finlay win this match, then the WWE have seriously made a huge mistake and have fucked up big time. Those 3 should only be in the match because they have nothing else to do and because their role is to take a few bumps to make the younger talent look good. The build up to the match has been horrible. There is no other way to describe it. The only remotely interesting thing to happen was the MVP Lounge Segment on ECW, and even that wasn't very entertaining.

How many times have these 8 guys faced each other in tag team competition? I swear, they've had at least 4 tag team matches against each other. They had an 8 man battle royal this week on Raw. It kind of ruins the hype for the match, as we've already seen these guys face each other 100 times within the past few weeks. It's a horrible way to build up the Money in the Bank Ladder match. The one match that I'm usually always excited for at Wrestlemania, just doesn't stand out on this years card. The participants just aren't great compared to the previous years.

It will be a 20 minute spot fest and will be one of the top 3 matches on the night. The 3 veterans won't and shouldn't win as previously mentioned. Kofi Kingston doesn't have much of a chance of winning as he's still relatively new to the company and this is actually his first time competing at a Wrestlemania. He just doesn't deserve to become a World Champion at this early stage of his career. I want CM Punk to win actually, but I don't think he will. He won it last year, was booked horribly by the WWE during his World Title reign, and was soon pushed down the card again, thus proving the match wasn't made for him to win it. Jeff Hardy was meant to win it last year.

For me, the 3 favourites to win are Shelton Benjamin, Christian and MVP. Benjamin just dropped the United States Title, so it could be a hint that he's in line for a main event push via Money in the Bank Briefcase. I personally don't think he's worthy to become a main eventer yet. He just hasn't shown a real lot to me. Christian has a terrific chance at winning. He's been booked very weak lately, is that a hint possibly? Mr Kennedy was booked weakly before he won the match in 2007. Even though he's not young, he could still be a new main eventer that isn't boring and old. I could see him winning it actually.

But my favourite to win the match, and my prediction to win is MVP. The guy has proved to be a great asset for the WWE. His face turn is slowly working, the fans are getting behind him and he's actually a great all round performer. Both in the ring and on the mic. We need new main eventers WWE. Since Mr Kennedy is always injured, I think the weight is going to be put on this man's shoulders for the rest of the year when he wins a World Heavyweight Championship:

My Pick to win MITB is Christian. However I orignally was thinking Maybe Kane, He has been winning a few matches lately and thought possibly giving him the title for more then 24 hours? lol I know he had the ECW title but you know what I mean... CM punk will not win, I do believe they have damaged his character. FInlay will not win, it just won't Happen....MVP, It is quite possible, as for Mark Henry, I want to know what the writers were thinking when putting him in that match like seriously? KOFI, Not this year as per some previous posts, possibly in the next 1-3 years...and Finally Mr Gold Standard...I don't think he will win, I just can't see it, I may be wrong he is a great heel and very talented guy, but I see Christian Winning this match.

Well, there really isnt another option outside of Christian. Maybe MVP, but it would be awful soon after that winning streak to give him the case. Id say he is your dark horse pick, with Christian being the front runner. Maybe...MAYBE CM Punk becoming the first ever back to back winner. Doubtfull. Christian is basically the stand alone canidate here.

NorCal prediction : Christian

I agree with you about Christian winning, i not giving in to the possibility that Christian is hated backstaged by Vince. But the point of the MITB is to push wrestlers that would be really difficult to push in a storyline. Edge, RVD, and CM Punk are prime examples. Christian doesnt need to have the case to get a push, all he need is to feud with edge when he doesnt have the title, end the feud, revive it when Edge get tha title, and hav him win the title. You cant do that with any other person in that match. If he wins, then its a win-lose situation, they give Christian back tha title, but they lose the concept of MITB.

To me MVP and Shelton are my top candidates. Wrestlemania are always about dreams coming true(Shawn Michaels boy hood dream, Rey Mysterio's dream). MVP just came off a 20+ losing streak, and to come back and win the MITB at mania would be a heartbreaking (keyfable of course). While Shelton just lose his Championship and to win the MITB would be what tha WWE has done a few times in the past (Edge at No Way Out, Chris Jericho at Unforgiven when he lose to Shawn michael, and won tha championship). It would be great if Christian won, but i fear it would have a certain effect that the WWE will start to push returning veterans in tha match

For the better part of the past year, I've predicted MVP to win this year's MITB, but the closer it's getting, I'm not so sure.

I think MVP would be the best choice, but I've got a feeling they're gonna give it to Christian, which I would also be happy with, but I just don't feel he needs it as much, he doesn't need MITB to get into a World title programme, all he has to do is move to the same show as Edge and before long, you know they will be involved with each other somehow and seeing as Edge always seems to be champion or no. 1 contendor that would immediately put Christian roughly on the same level.

Outside of MVP & Christian, I really can't see another winner, Kofi, Finlay & Henry have absolutely no chance, Kane has been stale for years, Shelton will never get over and Punk already won it last year.

Up until three weeks ago, my pick was MVP until he won the US title.
Yesterday, he successfully defended that title gainst Shelton Benjamin so I don't see MVP winning tomorrow. My reasoning is that no wrestler that has come into this match with either the IC or US title has left the MITB match at Wrestlemania with the briefcase so I don't think MVP takes it now.

My choice is Christian because I think it will be either him or Shelton and I don't think the WWE looks at Shelton as a main event player at this moment.

Henry, MVP, Kofi, and Finlay aren't winning it. Henry's too big and slow and can't draw. MVP is US Champion and doesn't need MITB. Kofi is too young. Agreed there. Finlay just doesn't seem logical.

The four favs in the match are Benjamin, Chrisitan, Kane, and CM Punk. I don't see Christian going over in this match, simply because Vince hasn't cared much for his look from what's been told on wrestling sites. Kane is a long shot, because he simply doesn't need a belt. Benjamin and CM Punk are who it boils down to. I just can't see a Punk repeat. Benjamin wins the match and Pearl Harbor's someone at Summerslam!

My Prediction

Money in the Bank Match - Kane - I actually do not know why I am going for Kane. For weeks I have been thinking MVP has this in the bag, with Christian as my second favourite. But for some reason, today it dawned on me that they have been pushing Kane lately and, after all, he deserves a title reign for loyalty to the business more than anyone. So for that reason alone, I am going for Kane.

I don't know about any of you, but this year's MITB is awful. I don't like any of the contenders except Punk, and Chrisitian. Kane is hardly worth contending for a world title shot, and honestly so are the rest including MVP. Take nothing away from Shelton, but he is not ready for the Main Event scene by an means. Mark Henry shouldn't even be in the match, as he adds nothing to it at all. Finaly is boring, and has no reason to be in this match as well. Kofi is also out of place here.

Shelton and MVP should be fighting for the US title in an epic match that could have made some history. Instead they compete for a title they have no chance at competing for. Punk isn't bad, and Christian makes sense. What about Helms? Maybe even Tyson Kidd just to push the feud with Bourne? Throw in Evan Bourne, and even add Cody & Teddy. Finally add you big man in to the mix, someone like Festus just to make things interesting. Festus has a ton more charisma than either Kane or Henry.

Priceless isn't doing much, and adding them in to the mix would be interesting. Would they work together, or fight?

Christian wins MITB - I know people have been saying Shelton is going to win, and I think he will, but I can't bring myself up to pick against Captain Charisma. My hope is Vince comes to realize the potential of Christian winning the MITB. You can tease the Edge/Christian reunion for a few weeks or month, and then have Christian turn. There is no one (except Vince) who doesn't want to see Edge vs Christian for the Heavyweight title. Having said all that I believe it will be Benjamin taking the briefcase after all his losses. Of course he won't win a title, but he will be rewarded for his previous MITB showcases.
